That screen wouldn't have been a problem if the remake used spritework. These polygonal graphics are going to look horrible.
Are any Nintendo devs still doing spritework? Fire Emblem may be the only franchise still doing it.

I'm talking about the 3ds game. I love the original Lords of Shadow.
This looks worse than AM2R. "2.5D" is not a good look for Metroid.
No hype from me, but happy for you folks that are excited.
This looks completely different from AM2R.
The fan remake actually looks better than this :/ No wonder they killed it
I don't think it should be completely abandoned. I understand the business rationale for releasing it on the 3DS in a crystal clear way. I'm saying that this game, and any new 3DS games in general should be releasing on both platforms to ease the transition to the Switch. The 3DS has been out since early 2011. It's time to move on.That's factually incorrect though.
It's a very successful system and it would be a bad business decision to completely abandon it.
Guys, if the 3DS was dead, this game likely wouldn't even be happening at all. Instead, we get 2D and 3D Metroid. Be happy.
The port begging shouldn't be surprising. The 3DS is archaic hardware that Nintendo themselves have effectively replaced with the Switch. I could understand the nonsense in expecting a portable game to be ported to home console for the sake of wanting, but I guarantee many Switch owners invested in the system with full expectation for it to transition Nintendo's own portable market to a new generation. Nintendo can parade around "it's a home console!" all they like; the Switch is just as much a portable through and through as the 3DS, and I feel some (like myself) would enjoy seeing very, very late generation 3DS titles supported by the system.
Maybe there's a worry that the lower quality assets will leave a sour impression on Switch users, but eh. Throw it up on the eShop rendering native resolution with some AF and AA and I'm sure most wouldn't mind.
I demand AMR2 devs get a shoutout for their hard work. If they are secretly making the new Metroids with either 3DS or Switch that's another story. If not, they need recognition for their achievements first hand by Nintendo.
Getting some Other M vibes from the action-y cutscenes. Hopefully that's not indicative of how this turns out.
Yeah exactly...lol are people really giving excuses for Nintendo to do it?
This and Prime 4 probably only exist because everyone was so pissed about Federation Force.

2) This isn't the first time Nintendo has handed this series to a developer with a questionable track record. Also, the biggest issue with MecurySteam's Castlevania games was Konami. The first game was great, then Konami started getting involved and screwed everything up.
Zero Mission is a GBA game. If the hope here is to reinvigorate the franchise through remakes you'd think they'd start at the beginning as part of the core audience you'd want to bring into the Metroid franchise wasn't even alive when Zero Mission was published.Zero Mission is the remake of the first Metroid. Super Metroid doesn't really need a remake because it already looks good. Two needed a remake the most. I don't think it is played as much and it has gameboy grey graphics.
No, they're cashing in on a Metroid II remake while the most committed fans are thirsty, after C&Ding a fan remake out of existence and farmed it out to a mediocre studio for a 2.5D remake that looks worse than Super on the SNES. Testing the waters would be a faithful remake of Super or of I/Zero Mission so they could introduce a non-trivial amount of their audience to the franchise it's best form or starting point.come the fuck on, can you imagine the shitstorm if they were remaking super??
they are just testing the waters
Meh, if they didn't use the existing 2D Metroid sprites it wouldn't even exist.
Nintendo DS not Game Boy Advance's Successor, Says NintendoNintendo has consistently said the 3DS isn't replaced by the Switch.
Someone buy me a 3DS
Evidently this time they actually meant ithttps://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-ds-not-game-boy-advances-successor/1100-6086771/
They say this every time man.

The level design, controls, bosses, and power ups are new. I don't see how this counts as playing through Metroid 2 again.Eh, I don't feel like playing through Metroid 2 again. I would have been excited if it were Super. I also think AM2R looks better. -shrugs-
... and?
Prime 4 is 2019 or 2020 at best. There should be a Switch port, come on its not that hard to understandI really can't understand the port begging when we literally just got the announcement of Metroid
friggin Prime 4 for Switch. This is but a bonus and a pleasant one at that.
It's not like people are asking for it on PC, they're asking for it to be on the system that Nintendo sold to them as the replacement for consoles and handhelds.
If there's any shootout they should give to, it would be the staff that worked on Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission they did most of the work to make AM2R possible anyway.

yo KingBroly, I'd suggest updating that avatar of yours.
...Don't buy a game you won't play. That's just silly. Will probably buy but not play due to 3DS
It's come to this
Looks pretty bad imo, especially after AM2R. I can't put my faith in Mercury Steam.
Yo what the actual fuck
