Capcom focused on Monster Hunter: World for West, won't commit to MH:XX localization

How the fk does capcom localising a game makes monster hunter world disappear ? Wtf kinda human being are you

But I'm just happy they're bringing a game I like on my favorite console. I didn't say anything about not wanting them localizing XX. Keep it cool dude.

Weird to build up a fanbase on 3DS/Nintendo and abandon them to chase the console audience. Switch especially feels like it caters to both local and international crowds well, being playable everywhere (and with proper controls finally).
.

Funny because Capcom abandoned PSP owners to chase the 3DS market. This is no different.

There will be a MH for Switch past XX (which will probably hit next year too) Not much to worry about. They are just trying to build the brand. About damn time too.

I'm excited for World

hopefully Capcom doesn't shit on their established fans to expand in the West though, they have a perfect opportunity to nurture both sides of the coin

Guess what the international version is this time.
Unless all of MHXX's content and features (where relevant) are recreated within World that isn't an "international version." Although if they DID do that I think it'd be more being bummed over missing some Switch Monster Hunter (and the better version on 3DS) than missing the game entirely.
People are overreacting or reacting way too soon here.

How bout we wait before going FUCK so and so?
It's always best to wait until it's been out in Japan a long while before panicking. And it was a little concerning for MHX, but they came through on that front in the end. I think it's mainly that another new game was announced in the series along with quicker turnaround for a lot (but not all!) games that's making people really freak out, even though Capcom's always dragged their feet on these (outside of MHW obviously.) Damn, Atlus was starting to freak us out a bit with EOV being out since August in Japan with only news of the English version... uhh, a week or two ago?

I do still think it will get localized, but I can see it being like summer 2018 as to not interfere with their MH World plans. I can't imagine Nintendo wouldn't step in.

How is some people being denied the thing they want great news? That's some grade-a fucking bullshit right there.

Most of the people who think its awesome probably wont even buy the game anyways. Its all system wars bullshit at this point

Where did we go wrong?

I can't believe with a company that's been releasing their games overseas for decades it's still a fucking guessing game whether any given game in their long running series will actually get translated.

Huh thats a weird one. Is MHW slated for an early 2018 release? Maybe they want as maybe people on that before even hinting of a XX port later on, maybe in 2019?

Still glad that World is getting legitimate support from Capcom. They're making me think this won't end up as another Frontier

By the time 2019 rolls around XX will be old news, replaced by whatever the Portable/X team makes next. If we got a localization of XX then instead of the new game people would be even more pissed.

TBH it looks the future of the franchise, finally being cleaned up. There's not much reason to drop the ball with a 3DS port tarnishing the franchise in the West.

Of course.

If it's a hilariously dumb decision that makes no sense, then it's only natural that Capcom will do it.

I've been thinking this for the last few years when they seemingly ignored bringing the franchise into HD on consoles. Two steps forward, one step back.

:lol At some of the folks here applauding this. Yes, less game localization are a good thing.

Also, while you can argue about this being typical PR speak given that Capcom or anyone hasn't said a word about XX getting brought overseas since the 3DS announcement I'd say its fair for people to expect the worst. It's on them for continuing to leave us in the dark.

Wait so not releasing a game in the west despite it already existing is building the brand?

How is getting less games good news for anyone?

I can see where he might think that it's great that they are putting the focus on the game he wants, admittedly the Console version is the first time I've been excited for a Monster Hunter game in a long time.

That said it does suck for people who'd rather keep their MH experience regulated to handhelds.

Capcom is banking on World getting the mass audience that may be interested in MH but are turned off by the series' combat system and controls. There's a lot out there.

That said, localizing XX does no damage whatsoever to that plan, so it still has Capcom in the wrong regarding that.

They're not going to get that audience. Hell, I don't think they retain a large portion of the audience they built up so far. And them keeping brands separate for East and West is only going to make things worse.

Capcom must be betting a lot on this more Westernized Monster Hunter being a big hit - they don't want people to be playing the "legacy" version of the game (aka classic Monhan) and getting a bad impression of their new reboot.

EDIT: I do not mean classic Monster Hunter is bad in any way, I love MH to death. It's just not very Western friendly IMHO, a niche taste to be sure.

I'm still cautiously optimistic about the PS4/XB1 Monster Hunter, but I'd be lying if I said this didnt hurt - a lot. Was looking forward to playing Monhan on Switch minus the shit 3DS controls.

I didn't like how World was looking but was going to buy it anyway.

Now I am not buying World until the more traditional Monster Hunter (XX) comes to the US on Switch.

Simple as that

I'm starting to think the people who are happy with this situation are not monster hunter fans. With the amount of grinding that is in monster hunter it's portability is essential. I'm sure some are happy about the situation to play it with modern graphics but that isn't really important to the monster hunter experience.

The fact we never got Dai Gyakuten Saiban is still so wierd to me. Capcom's gonna Capcom I guess; if they weren't like this Mega Man might even still be alive.

It's good news for me that they're focusing on a brand new huge console Monster Hunter game and not the port of what's basically Monster Hunter X GOTY Edition. I'm glad they're focusing on a bigger and potentially better title.

For me it's ok, I was going to buy MH World instead of XX anyways because it seems to be the newer, more modern version, properly updated for our tastes.

But it would be nice to see XX localized too in order to play it somewhere in the future. And for western players who have a Switch and not PS4/XBO/PC. The more people play MH, the better.

In any case, I understand that for many years Nintendo has been paying to keep MH outside Vita and PS3 and now it's their turn to don't get MH.

Now I am not buying World until the real Monster Hunter comes to the US on Switch.

Simple as that

Real Monster Hunter seems like an interesting viewpoint. Particulalry after Capcom have confirmed this is being worked on by the main team and is the next step for the franchise.

Why the fuck do they do this shit? Why put 5 games on Nintendo hardware only to completely ditch the audience? World looks okay now that more of the traditional elements have been confirmed but guess what, I want old-school portable MH too. So annoying.

Yeah there's going to be another Monster Hunter for Switch. And at the rate these games go, Nintendo will localize 5 before Capcom twiddle their thumbs and give Nintendo the consent to localize XX.

Well this sucks, if there's another entry being worked on that also releases in the West then fair enough but if not..... then Capcom can go jump and if that 4chan rumour is true about Sony blocking a Switch port then they can go jump also with their bs and refusal for cross platform play. Just because i have a PC and PS4 doesn't suddenly mean i want to give up portability on the only system that could offer both portability and home play an of course the PC version of MHW has to take a backseat....

I'm excited for Monster Hunter World (assuming it's not as "accessible" and half-assed as most their other recent games) but Capcom are as stupid as I believe if they don't localize a game they've already mostly localized on a platform that has a dedicated user base eager to buy quality games.

Hopefully Capcom can get someone in charge who has a clue one day because currently all they do is churn out half-assed feature-barren takes on their classic IPs which doesn't seem like a good business model. That or they go out of business and stop trying to rake money out of people based on nostalgia.
