Capcom focused on Monster Hunter: World for West, won't commit to MH:XX localization

I think Nintendo will localize it.
It's possible that Capcom won't allow Nintendo to localize this one, so as to keep the spotlight solely on World in the west. World's potential for success is a big unknown right now and having another Monster Hunter title on the market to compete against it could only hurt its chances.

Fucking hell Capcom. How hard is it to understand the japanese on MH titles? I need MH on Switch. I only play it when I'm not home, and I'm sick of 240p.

Please don't tell me the franchise will be tied to home consoles in the West from now on

Excited to see the Monster Hunter series move forward. Hopefully we see more of it this year. Maybe PSX?

Why would you write this in this thread? This is about their focus and no comments on a XX localization. Do people now just type that "move forward" shit in every thread with the words "Monster Hunter" in it? Why post an unrelated statement like that, I don't get it.

Ofcourse it's going to get localized. Nintendo will push for it.

Why? Capcom has absolutely no incentive to do so. The West gets their western MH. There sure are western Switch owners that would want XX but after that MH World reveal that number probably has become smaller.

Lol some people are so salty. You guys don't know shit about MH switching platforms, it's nothing new lol. I'm completely fine with it, fans have always followed the series. If XX isnt localized I'll just import it.

Yeah, just like fans have followed the series on console releases in the past.

I do think people are getting worked up over what may amount to nothing but meaningless PR speak though.

If the game ends up not coming over then I guess people will just have to wait for the next big handheld entry on Switch. I doubt Capcom would willingly leave behind the massive portable MH Japanese market, but if for some reason they decide to not release a handheld entry then they better hope that World sells well in the west.

I'm still undecided on World, but if it turns out good I'll probably give it a go if I get the chance. It'll feel weird playing an MH game on a home console though.

It's not trolling to say that MH wouldn't have had the same level of success on Vita. The series alone wouldn't have shipped that many units or pushed the Vita to that level of sales alone.

We wouldn't even be having this conversation. There would have been no Western Vita releases at all.

This isn't close to the same situation either. Switch is tracking more successfully on a global level, the series is continuing on the platform too, they just aren't localizing it.

You know when the new monster hunters annouced right? Like when vita was not even announced?

uninformed and a troll :(

I for one am happy that Monster Hunter has been unclaimed from underpowered mobile consoles. If we get a new monhun for the switch in a new engine that would be fantastic.

What competition? World isn't coming out on Switch, and XX isn't coming out on PS4/XB1/PC.

It was sad for fans, sure, but Capcom had their motives.

PSP was dead dead, all the MH PSP bombed, and Capcom DID TRY to localize MHP3 HD for PS3, but Sony cock blocked them due to their stupid policies such as online mode and trophies.

MH:XX is not being localized. End of story. Not for 3DS, not for Switch, not for PS4, PC or whatever.

And this time Capcom have no valid excuses, they are just being straight out stupid.

MHFreedom did not bomb, those games typically sold half a million in the west. People are acting like westeren gamers only know MH because of Nintendo.

Also, Mhp3rdHD localizaition for Ps3 was just a rumor and should not been taken as a fact.

There's a bigger thread arguing crossplay than one of the biggest handheld games not making its way to a red hot console.

Strange times we live in!

Because they are trolls. There is a thread on the front page for them but they pick this one to troll.

I don't think so. MH fans are rabid and would double dip.

For me it's ok, I was going to buy MH World instead of XX anyways because it seems to be the newer, more modern version, properly updated for our tastes.

But it would be nice to see XX localized too in order to play it somewhere in the future. And for western players who have a Switch and not PS4/XBO/PC. The more people play MH, the better.

In any case, I understand that for many years Nintendo has been paying to keep MH outside Vita and PS3 and now it's their turn to don't get MH.

What are you talking about? Have you any actual evidence of this or is this "Tales from my Ass™"?

And that's the end of my local hunting session with my friends :<

I'm definitely going to buy World but hunting online is not the same as hunting with everyone being on the same room.

If MH World doesn't sell enough to meet Capcom's standards I'm worried they'll decide "Welp west hates MH" and just stop the localizations and keep it in Japan.

I really hope Nintendo steps up and localizes this then. Though i hace a ps4, ill miss out on world just to petition xx on Switch fpr the west.

Fuck you Capcom. I'm not buying another one of your western focused water-downed experiences. Didn't they learn anything from last gen?

Stop trying to appeal to other markets and stick to what you are good at, kick ass Japanese action games with fun and interesting mechanics.

Serves us right for not buying more copies of Ultra Street Fighter II... eh, Capcom?

As a premium handheld gamer, you've been dicking us around with your Monster Hunter support for a while now.
I didn't get angry when you snubbed Vita for the 3DS and Wii U... and I won't get angry that you are now snubbing the Switch for PS4 and Xbox One.

It's okay, though... I don't expect any more Phoenix Wright games in the West from you, either.

What I will tell you, though... is I haven't bought anything from you guys since Resident Evil VII. And I have no clue when I'll buy anything from you again.

Because the tweet this thread is based on is them saying they're focusing on MHWorld and that it's the the Next Generation of Monster Hunter.

I think it's great news and seeing a series jump from the 3DS to the PS4 is a pretty big leap forward for the series. I'm excited for it so I wanted to express that.

I get that some fans are disappointed but is there any reason to lash out at people who are actually cool with this? I'm not going into every thread to post one-liners to bait anyone. People need to chill.

This is the second time I'm having to say this but, I told y'all.

Having said that, we gotta make noise if we want this to be localised.

It's going to backfire. We saw it with SFV. We're seeing it with MVC:I. It's going to happen here. They'll continue to make excuses, but they've run out of room to run.

Wow at the over reaction.

Nintendo is publishing Monster Hunter Stories later this year.
Nintendo published Monster Hunter Generations in 2016.
Nintendo published Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in 2015.
Nintendo published Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in 2013.

Nintendo will probably published Monster Hunter XX next year.

And by the way, the guy isn't going to tell you "no it's just a little spin off, MH5 is coming next year too"

Sorry Warrior, it's not a little spin off, the main team is making it. It is MH5 for all intents and purposes.

Nintendo always promotes MH, if they said nothing about it at E3 that implies a serious issue.

Also, it's fucking ridiculous that Nintendo has to localize SE and Capcom's own games constantly. Especially MH given it's popular enough to easily make back it's localization budget plus a tidy sum.

Why would you not want a completed game that is half localized to finish localization for the people who want it? What literal purpose could you have for that besides being spiteful?

MH in Nintendo devices sold worse than in PSP during several games until MH4.
"several games"

uh there was only game until MH4 and that was MH3G which was the first MH game on 3DS and that went on to sell ~2 million in Japan. It was just Tri with more monsters that were taken from MHP3rd which came out a year before it.

Not even gonna acknowledge what you said about the vita selling well because although it found its own niche it wasn't much of a success

Not until World flops terribly.

If they're betting the farm on World, then I don't know if there is going to be a Capcom to localize it if World does flop. This decision seems like it's pointing at World being a major make or break moment for them, and if it does fail, I don't know how their shareholders don't revolt after years of underperformance on every franchise but Monster Hunter.

What competition? World isn't coming out on Switch, and XX isn't coming out on PS4/XB1/PC.
It would still be two similar games from the same series made available around the same time. People interested in Monster Hunter will be more likely to give World a chance if its the only option.

Not that I disagree; but we should probably reserve judgement on World until it comes out. It could actually be great and an evolution of the franchise.

Just don't pre-order (not that anyone should ever pre-order anyway)

That actually doesn't change my point at all. Plus I did say, PSP had no successor, which is true if you're trying to say Capcom wasn't aware of Vita.

Anyway I'm going to block you, your response to everything is "you're a troll", and personally I'm not fond of bashing my head against brick walls.

There's only so many consoles lolis can sell.

If Nintendo was willing to bring over stories themselves I'd think they'd bring over XX too.
Who knows though? Maybe Nintendo is like "oh you did a deal for the main MH in the west on everything but our new system? Well we wish you the best for the localisation of xx on Switch in the West."

Stories is probably related to an older deal...?
