Capcom focused on Monster Hunter: World for West, won't commit to MH:XX localization

Fuck you Capcom. I'm not buying another one of your western focused water-downed experiences. Didn't they learn anything from last gen?

Stop trying to appeal to other markets and stick to what you are good at, kick ass Japanese action games with fun and interesting mechanics.
Glad you've played it to know it's a westernized piece of trash rather than the next logical step for the series. I also wish MH would never change. New weapons and mounting ruined the game anyway.

Wait can't I still buy it non localized from the eshop? I mean, I can't understand Japanese but I can still play it.

Well, fuck you too, Capcom.

Good thing I'm outgrowing English localizations by learning Japanese. Will be there day 1 for XX on Switch.

At the very least throw in some rudimentary item translations for the Japanese version. Have the game detect system language and automatically switch the text.

FFS, a handful of fans managed to translate 80% of the game within weeks of release. Do better Capcpom!

People to this day are asking if it's necessary to play the previous games... even here on GAF. And it's a game with much better brand recognition and foothold in the west.

It is now and removed from its reveal trailer. I agree with your point to a certain extent but they had already advertised it as 3 before they tried to backpedal. By then people knew it was a 3rd game sure but the general consumer didn't as much.
The first two games barely sold anything worldwide.

Like I stated in the other thread, there is no explanation or excuse for this that will make me understand. The bulk of the game is already localized and you've got an audience ready and waiting with their brand new console that is selling like crazy.

This is such an easy win and you wind up pleasing your current base and attracting new players with your PS4 game as well.

I do not, cannot understand.

For me personally, if I can't take Monster Hunter on the go, I'm not buying it. I don't care what console it's on.

Please point to any of Capcom's westernized efforts last-gen that was developed by the original Japanese dev team like World is and not outsourced to a sub-par western dev.

People are taking this "westernized Monster Hunter" thing way too seriously considering how little information we actually have about World at this point.

I'm glad this containment thread exists. Wew.

That being said, I would have loved for them to bring over XX. I'm still hoping they do it despite what has been said.

Actually i dont care they are changing consoles. Just buy a ps4 and call it a day.

Im afraid they are changing too much what i like about MH.

The fact they dont show the player fighting the monsters is worrying. Are they changing MH to be a stealth game? They could even invest in creating this kind of gameplay but as long as it's secondary gameplay.

I'm afraind about this western MH. ....... Well, let's wait. I just feel that the way they presented created bad buzz about the franchise. If they don't do it right, they could kill MH in the west.

Capcom is really strange nowadays..

You're also giving folks options of a convenient portable and/or deep home console experience with 2 new games.

I'll be there day 1 for World no matter what, but this post is spot-on. With Capcom it seems like it's always one step forward, two steps back.

Nintendo even worked with Capcom and listened to their needs when developing the Switch.

What has Nintendo got to show for that partnership?

A quick port of SF2 HD Remix and a XX port for Japan?

Unprecedented partnership.

If MH is to be bigger and become more popular in the west, then they need consistency. That means localizing everything they have of MH and make the brand more recognizable. Building up a fanbase who have grown to love the traditional games then failing to localize is only damaging. Sure, World looks interesting, but there will be people who also want to play the traditional stuff.

Wait can't I still buy it non localized from the eshop? I mean, I can't understand Japanese but I can still play it.

Yeah. Switch is region free, so you can still buy it there from the Japanese eShop. It's incredibly painless to create a Japanese account as well.

did somebody do the 'shot themselves in the foot' pasta yet?

I don’t know how much the rest of you know about Monster Hunter culture (I’m an expert), but skill and shame are huge parts of it. It’s not like it is in Konami, where you can become successful by being an ***hole. If you screw someone over by not localizing, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Monster Hunter community, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Monster Hunter Worlds for either system, nor will they purchase any of Capcom’s games (lol). This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Capcom has alienated an entire fanbase with this move.

Capcom, publicly apologize and announce the localization of Monster Hunter XX in the West or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I am pretty sure XX will be localized (Generations sold well after all), but hey guys, these games usually take months (if not years) to get to the west.

Don't let them fool you, this is just marketing for MHW.

Getting my Monster Hunter XX Switch ver. on day one.

Now that I think about it. Didn't Capcom say something about adding the RE engine on Switch?

World doesn't even look like a huge departure from the "traditional" stuff. The combat is mostly the same. They haven't removed anything from the combat. You still go out and hunt monsters either solo or with a party.

It just looks improved, which is a good thing.

I didn't think Capcom would NTR Nintendo like this.

What a shame. I feel bad for the fans :(

come on nobody would suggest that, its about we dont getting the game for no reason not about ninten--

guess i am wrong

lol

its funny how half of this thread is going on console warrior shit instead about the game

Maybe if the Switch port of MHXX sells well in Japan, the West can get an on-rails Monster Hunter game.

Capcom loves to troll Nintendo fans.

Wait hold on here. I thought XX was confirmed for a localization? I KNOW I saw someone somewhere post that a MH on Switch/3DS was confirmed for localization.

We haven't actually seen any combat so you can't say for sure if it's improved or not. All we know is that they are at least dumbing down one mechanic (figuring out monster weak zones).

Wonder what are the chances of MHXX having multiple languages in the Japanese Switch version like some other games have had (Like Disgaea and Setsuna)

EA is supporting the Switch better than capcom

Well, it makes discussing Worlds a little easier in its proper thread. I can understand the anger, and I feel like it needed a thread for people to vent those frustrations.
Yeah, having this thread so that the elitist babies that like inferior archaic mechanics can cry wihout bothering the playerbase that matters is a good thing, tbh.

One more IP for the good guys.

What? I don't care what mechanics they use in other Monster Hunters, but I'd at least like to play the game they have on the system already in the west. I don't get your attitude.
