Yeah, well to each their own but I think it's just safer to say start from level one. Not all people like to be challenged right away, not in game looking like this, they won't expect it

It's truly a great game. I don't even care that single player is light - love the pure arcade experience.
My only complaints are around explanation. Nothing is explained, which is frustrating.

The best way is just to play the game to build a strong base. The slow pace at which arms are unlocked reinforces the idea of experimenting sufficiently with what you unlock. Don't understand why people are so ancious, the extra damage doesn't seem high enough to make a difference.

I think I am getting better at the game.
However, I do feel a bit powerless against guys that use two hammers.
Hammer seems to be a heavy weapon, so you can't really stop it. It curves pretty well (so you can't simply avoid to the right or left), and when it gets close to you, its strike is rather large so you can't jump over it, or avoid it easily.
I faced someone that would simple strike continuously with each arm, one after another with a correct rhythm, making it pretty much impossible to handle.
Any advice ?

Don't jump. It's better to dash sideways. It has a bit of a lag so you can escape it.

Cleared Grand Prix 1-3, feel like I'm getting the hang of the movement of the game a lot more, but it still feels weird to me. It's not like anything I've ever really played before.
Jump to the side then mid air dodge further to that side and throw a quick counter with your outside arm while curving it inwards.

You actually can, just not both at exactly the same time.
I've been playing motion only up until this morning, and I'm not sure if I'll go back now that I've gotten the hang of the normal controls. More testing is needed.

Party mode sucks because you have to play modes that aren't 1v1. Ranked is annoying because people are too good. I will forever be stuck in rank 7.

Nope. The arms just approach her slowly so she does not get hit.
I believe it charges her arms and slows down incoming punches. It kind of acts as a second air dodge and can be held for a really long time, almost as if she's hovering.
It's really useful because incoming punches that are head on basically get stopped cold for a brief second allowing a counter punch to break attempted grabs, for example. If the incoming punches go around her they get slowed but don't stop in the same way I just detailed.
I main her right now and I find this ability to be a bit OP, to be honest.

I think Splatoon is the only game ever where I preferred motion.

In the uppers levels of play against rank 10 and 11, I can't play Helix like I normally can, somehow they're able to punish Helix after I punch first when before that was never likely since I would dodge and counter their counter. In general I've noticed that while Helix is evasive as all hell, he can still definitely be punished, it just seems it's much harder to do so. I need more feedback from those who've played against (my) Helix. Someone stated my recent poor performance might be mental fatigue but I fear there might be a flaw in either my play style or my arms and if there is I'm trying to figure out how to adjust and therefore will listen to feedback

Not exactly short lived, I'm still winning, rather frequently, I suppose I'm just not used to the competition. I guess I'm just trying to come to the conclusion if my losses were just based purely on skill or because of the fault of my playstyle specifically or my arms being objectively worst against a specific person or loadout
I ask this because I do want to improve, and not just rely on one set up (like the poppers and some other combinations) when it comes to such things. The only reason I'm so adamant about the poppers is because how well they compliment Helix and the strange effect they have on him, hence why it's my go to option. But if there's something better or something to improve on then I'd like to know

Ugh stuck on the final final boss on Level 4. So close to ranked.

I've come to the realization that I will probably never unlock ranked.
I despise playing against AI in fighting games. Especially this one.
I have 13 000 matches in Smash 4, 56 of them are offline vs cpu and that is only when I waited for servers to function or when I've been timed out for quitting prematurely iirc...

Save up and get some different arms, and try different things. Makes a huge difference.
Find the character you do best with, then find the arms that you do best with.
Just take a break. Every time I do, I come back a little better.
Same. Just had a ninjara try to timer scam me on Cobra park by just circling me on their board while blocking.

The missile weapons seem pretty great now that I'm giving them some time. Extremely maneuverable, heavy, and AoE blast when a charge connects. Rushes are tricky but powerful. Lays waste to AI, too.
Double missiles on Twintelle makes the aerial mix-up game feel even more threatening. Probably not optimal but hilarious.

Speaking of which, someone was complaining earlier that you need to use motion controls to be good at that mode. This morning I did medium timer and hit every single target, clock, and ARM with normal controls.
