I'm RDM and if I see no healer casting res already, I res.
Reason I don't intervene if healer is already on it is cuz I assume healers know what they are doing and thus they have time to do it right now.

Yeah, it's optional MSQ-wise but necessary to complete the Aether Currents on Ruby Sea.
They will; it didn't used to be the case, but they made a change mid-HW to help boost DPS since most players didn't lock on. Basically they decided to just remove the chance for losing DPS by turning around, but I believe it also means you can't skip Blighted mechanics anymore by just turning around.
Man I'm going to throw a party.
I discovered just how much of an impact not using lock-on had when I was 2nd Coil and couldn't keep up with the DPS of the Dragoon from my FC's other raid group. I tried using it but it was too weird.
I'm so happy about this news... at least until I share a duty with a SAM again and silently cry at my comparably pitiful DPS.

One thing about FL,if your server is congested or with long queues, you're risking yourselves to a 90k and another long wait. PotD is a safer instance.

Nah, just go for it. There is almost no point at which the healer couldn't get more out of the cast time than casting a hard rez, but sometimes it's more because there's something the person has to be up for coming and so there's not a lot of choice in the matter.
90k FL is the best if you can get back in relatively quickly; as long as your party doesn't kick you (and none of the ones I've been in kick people for DCing) and you can reconnect in a reasonable amount of time you can miss the entire match and still get credit at the end.
Servers with 4,000 people queues or whatever need not apply, but in a 90k scenario with no queues FL seems vastly preferable to PotD.

Yes been years since I did it though, had to make enemy casts as huge as possible.

For miners will I make more money finishing her level 50s off for moving to level 60-70?
Mainly use mining to grinding for personal crafting material and quick cash so I haven't gotten my levels the more effective way during my 50s grind. Looking over guides there is no tl;dr version or no video version for me to quickly figure out how to get mining up using the collectibles method.
From what I remember there was a lot of garbage with mining for timed nodes doing the collectible mini game. Was this streamlined during any patches after the original 3.0 patch? Tried it hated it and put a pause on it to wait for tweaks.

They're just being cautious right now. At some point in the coming days weeks they'll flip the switches off and you won't see them again until next expansion.
Though on my server those numbers are much higher.

I've only had maybe 2 90ks in about 20-25 frontline matches.
I think it's just that they don't have the tech to actually scale instancing to meet demands; in HW they waited for problems and then went in and instanced the pain points. Here they just went "fuck it" and made three of everything.
Which meant during the Raubahn/Pippin roadblocks, zones after them would have 1 or 2 people per instance. It's not great, but I think their goal was stability. It should get dropped from at least the non-Gilgamesh/Balmung servers pretty quickly.

Someone above mentioned getting something like 580k exp at level 60 when they already have a level 70 class, which makes me think the answer is no. I still don't have my main class to 70 and I still was getting like 580k around level 60. I could be wrong though, just haven't read official info one way or the other.

So I'm thinking of giving the game a proper try, so I'm downloading the free trial. Are there any restrictions? Can I like not join an FC or something, or are there no restrictions locked behind a subscription?
Yeah, that sounds pretty much what I was getting around that time. I think it was 780 at 68 or something. Since armory bonus is 50% for SB, 580 sounds like way too little.

The only time I pray for the RDM or SMN to intervene and help rez is if the/a healer(s) are out of commission.
In your typical "XXX died" scenario I of course don't expect the RDM/SMN to drop what they're doing.
As a healer, I pray for someone to pick up the raise every single time. Raise costs a massive amount of MP, and it throws off everything if I have to do it too often. You don't want your healers running out of MP.
I mean, it's still collectibles but you're looking at getting 200-300k per item gathered @60-70 and there's usually a few up every couple of in-game hours (aka, every 6 minutes). There's good reason, even without MSQ and flying access, the first 70 was fairly early the first day on a gatherer. I want to say they haven't really changed the system that much outside of the nodes now being on a two hour timer as of SB but maybe I'm forgetting an early change to the system.
The mini-game isn't that bad. It's essentially a crafting mini-game for gathering but you really only have around 5 actions: Lower durability cost, lower 'gathering hit' cost, raise collectibility multiplier, and then the two actual collectible actions. Yes, there's some others (#LastDitch) but they're not too important for basic leveling. Come 60+, the current rotation for easy collectibles to turn in (Utmost Caution + Single Mind + Methodical, Single Mind + Methodical, Methodical, Methodical) is pretty easy to access I think even as you level through the 60s.
Edit: Late edit for clarity but nodes are now up for two in-game hours (6 minutes) and the next zone to go to for a different node will be every two-in game hours (e.g., 8 AM - 10 AM for one node, 10 AM - 12 PM, 12 PM - 2 PM, etc.). Every 12 in-game hours (36 minutes), these will reset as they're on a twice a day cycle (e.g., 8 AM - 10 AM node is the same as 8 PM - 10 PM node). The later collectible stuff is when you get into 24 hour nodes or limited time frames but the basic leveling timed nodes tend to fall under these categories.

Although limited in playing time, I've had some real nice progress the past couple play sessions. I managed to finish all the rest of PoTD, didn't realize it stopped after you beat floor 100 and then repeated 51-60 until I was about to hit level 50. I then knocked out all the level 49 quests so I've made it to the first of the two level 50 MSQ! I'm so close to finally beating ARR, so close! I want my SAM....
I think these are the two dungeons that you guys said have a lot of cutscenes, should I ask the FC to see if Gaffers will do them with me? Or do I not need to worry about it? I'd think people would know what's up when it says "someone is doing this for the first time" not to mention the green sprout icon I have.
During a long ass queue to get into the level 49 trial, I killed some time with Triple Triad but couldn't seem to get cards no matter who I beat in that Casino room. Are there only specific people in the world you can win cards from? Also, do they take one of yours if you lose like in FFVIII?
As for PotD, yeah, 41-50 sucks with pugs and almost always wipes at the boss in my experience. I had the same experience with 31-40 as well. The level 40 and 50 bosses are way more difficult than everything after, it's really weird. The rest of the bosses don't really have any special mechanics, at least comparatively. I'd say after 50, the floor 100 boss is the only other one that might cause trouble but didn't seem very hard when I did it, definitely hate the other two the most and fortunately will never have to run them again since I can start SAM at 51 when I get it.
SB is supposed to add a new deep dungeon I think called Euphoria, right?

This, especially with the nerfs to SCH. I have to manage my MP a lot more carefully.
RDM has a trait that makes every other cast a swiftcast; SMN only has Swiftcast on CD and I can understand why if one of the two of us has to rez they'd prefer it be me. But since a RDM can cast a normal short-cast damage spell and immediately swiftrez that's always going to be preferable from a GCD economy perspective.
Like, anything that hits hard enough to actually kill people is probably also going to be something where I can find uses for every GCD so not wasting a bunch of them locked in a rez is huge (or playing the I BET I CAN FINISH THIS CAST BEFORE THE AOE GOES OFF game.) If I get a RDM that's on the ball with raises I usually just run Bole and Ewer on them when Sleeve Draw slaps me with them to keep them up and make up for the MP loss from rezzing. I usually also do the extension on Balance for them to make up the lost damage for covering my ass.
Screw optimal I will straight up bribe you to not make me panic about finishing a rez, healing a tank buster, and topping everyone off for AOE at the same time.
Yeah, Japan has instancing as well.
Yesterday evening most areas had about ~80 people per instance and 3 instances on Durandal (no server queues past the 2nd or 3rd day iirc).

You're going to want to either ask the FC or throw up a Party Finder listing asking for people who don't mind waiting for the cutscenes. When people say there are a lot of cutscenes, they aren't kidding- the scenes are both numerous and long. Sprout or not, a random group is going to rush the dungeon guaranteed. The alternatives to going in with a premade party are watching the cutscenes as they come and accepting that you won't be doing very much fighting, or skipping the scenes and viewing the scenes in an inn room after the dungeons.

Certain NPC's have a chance (not 100%) to give you certain cards, yes. Probably guides out there as to which.
You will not lose cards to NPCs no matter what, so you don't need to worry about that

I'm with you. The problem now is that people think RDM have infinite MP and we can raise everything with our dual casts.

I don't know that Gaffers are going to want to have to sit around for me with SB being so new haha If I use party finder, how many bosses are there? Are they the big Imperial enemies from the story? or just monsters? I don't much care if I miss most of the dungeon from watching the cut scenes but I'd like to fight story bosses. I figure I'll do these again via daily roulette anyway.
If I chose to do the dungeon and watch the cut scenes later, how much sense will the dungeon make?
Cool, I'll have to look up who to play so I can get off this scrub deck and it's nice that I don't have to worry about losing cards against the NPCs as I'm starting out. I know there are different rules in different regions that change each day, but can you spread rules between the regions like in VIII?

I played summoner in FFXI, and that rubbed off on me playing Summoner in DIV.
If I'm not in dreadwyrm trance rotation, and someone goes down, I immediately hit the raise macro.
I do the same. I did it so often that the people I regularly play with expect me to raise them when if they die. Problem is... I've been leveling ninja lately so when they ask for a raise they are kinda screwed.

It's true that getting a party together from the FC might be harder due to SB having launched, but it never hurts to ask. You can expect a majority of the bosses to be the Imperials you've been seeing throughout the story, so you would inevitably miss most of those battles (that being said, the battles are so easy now that many of them die in around a minute, if not less). You'll also lose a fair bit of context for the battles themselves by skipping the scenes.
My preference has always been that if you can't get a premade together, go in and watch the cutscenes, then just go back and try the battles in a separate run. Because of how trivial the fights have become, I don't think they're worth sacrificing the cutscenes for.
