Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

Ok, so in crash 2, what should I be doing? I don't know what the criteria is to 100% a level.

I know one is all crates and don't die.
Other is speedrun.

That it?

Also, where the hell are these secret crates? First level I'm missing 30. Wtf.

I actively tried looking. Can't find them.

Did you do a body slam on the platform with a face on the ground? There is a hidden 2D segment with boxes.

Actually one of the gems is to beat the level without breaking any boxes.

You can die and get all the crates and still get the clear gems. Some levels have skull paths requiring you to stay alive up to a certain point to activate them, but not the first level. There is a secret area though that is needed to get all the boxes in that level.
there's a platform on the ground you can belly flop

It also has another gem
if you don't break any of the boxes in the level

Anyone know the 'trick' for Sunset Vista's time trial?

I got the platinum but worldwide #1 is ~30s faster! That's not just optimizing the run, that must be a shortcut or something. Any ideas?

There's so much timed stuff in that level, I'm terrified to do the time trial.

It might just be me, but listening to this helps with getting Slippery Climb's gem (should take you to 1:04:31, but if not go there)

Just break all the crates as usual. Just like Crash 1, some levels you have to return to with the colored gems from later levels But the way you get some of the extra gems is a bit diferent. You don't have to beat the entire level without dying, or even break every crate, but if you reach a certain point of a level you without dying you may find a platform with a skull and crossbones. That will take you to a Death/Skull Route, the reward for which is usually a gem.

If you mean Turtle Woods though,
there's a not-so secret area if you belly flop the tiki face in the ground a bit before the actual bonus section.
Edit: Beaten, but yes, some levels in Crash 2 have 'hidden' objectives as well.

For those who don't know: The reason CB2 is noticably more comfortable is because Mark Cerny brought in outside players over and over and had them play through all the levels at various stages. They made rudimentary heat-maps of were players had problems and adjusted accordingly. This approach was very successful and it got copied by the whole gaming industry and was for years nicknamed the 'Cerny Method'. Today it's practically unthinkable not to take these steps in any serious project and devs utilize very advanced analytics tools in making these things a science.

Here's a younger Mark explaining the approach: https://youtu.be/QOAW9ioWAvE

Thanks for this great little bit of info.

Ohh man, this game looks absolutely gorgeous, I would even dare say it looks on par with ratchet and clank but the IQ here is much clenaer and no jaggies at all, what a beautiful remake.

Not sure if already posted but

I only started Crash 1 earlier and man I am horrible at it but I am loving it. Got to not long after the hog level.

I want to do Warped but I really want to go through it all in order lol.

Loving Crash though. At least I am adjust further than I for on the original back when I was a kid. (Only one I've ever beat the story on is Warped lol)

When trying to get the Colored Gems that require you to get all the boxes without the dying, does dying before you even get a checkpoint count against you? On one hand, you'd still be getting all the boxes without dying since you had to do the level over from the beginning. On the other hand, you still technically "died".

I just want to know if dying near the start of a level means I still have to leave the level and manually re-enter to reset the death count.

Yeah if you die before the first point you can still keep going. It only resets if you die and get sent back to a checkpoint.

It's difficult to put into words how incredible it is to be playing this. I've wanted this exact thing for YEARS and was starting to give up hope of it ever happening. And now it's sat in my disc drive. It's almost surreal. Today draws to a close well over a decades worth of console launches and E3's rolling by thinking this would never happen.

My other half even commented on why I was just sat there grinning to myself while playing. I explained to her why this meant so much to me, although I think it mostly went over her head. Then I told her to picture a 10 year old version of me in the EXACT same pose I was sat in now.. just sat on the floor with a controller in hand staring at the screen playing Crash. She understood that.

My son actually was really excited when I booted this up. Had to take a break and he threw a fit lol.

1 hour later I am further in the level but I have no idea how to pass the third spinning animal being grilled... First u jump over second go under and last I die...

I jumped over him. Died a few times and each time I adjusted the point where I would jump until it worked

You jump over it. They messed up the timing of it in this version so it doesn't feel right even when you make it.

Stick to the right side and time the jump. There should be a lone fruit there before said jump. Always follow the path of the fruit ;)

The dead stops and collision detection in Crash 1 have led to some pretty BS deaths or wastes of time but maybe this is how it was in the OG release. I never did play it fully. I don't remember falling into pits/missing ledges like this in OG Crash 2 and 3.

A little, but I feel VV is to blame for some brand new problems in this one personally.

If I have no issues with the Crash 2 and 3 remakes, I'm going to put it down to Crash 1 just not being great. Native Fortress was a pain but I haven't got any Game Overs yet and I've never played these levels. I got Hog Wild fairly quickly (the final spinning board is some bullshit as some people said).

The Crash remaster is so good. I can't get enough of how good of a job they did on this. The facial animinations on Crash when getting chased down by the boulders, I was in absolute awe. It's the little things like that.....that make so much of a difference. Job well done.

Hope this sells well enough to get a CTR: Crash Team Racing remaster, these guys deserve the day one commitment with a remaster like this.

You don't even have to recollect boxes if you die in the middle of the stage, god these guys just fucking get it man.

May sound hilarious to some, but I am so happy that this wasn't a half assed effort and that the people behind this fully understood the beauty of the 3 games. I mean the OPENING SCENE OF CRASH 1 has dialogue............

Honestly it feels exactly the same to me, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

I don't know, as someone who actually enjoyed the original Crash 1 and replays it pretty frequently. There's something about the controls in the N Sane Trilogy that just doesn't feel right anymore. Can't put my finger on it.

If that's the one that leads to
Air Crash (river level), I believe that's how you acces the crates you need for the clear gem. There are other secret level entrances that give you access to gems, as well as that bonus level.
Oooh, that's sneaky, this box hunt just got craftier.

Yo VV...

Fix the jump height, weight, and hitbox collusions please. It just doesn't feel right.

I feel as if just a smidge more height on his jump would've saved my arse more times than I can count, nothing like appearing to miss a platform which also falls always indicating you actually landed on it at the same time.

I need confirmation that Coco playing different from Crash isn't just placebo lol.

My friend is telling me there's no difference but she just feels smoother to play as? idk

Finished the Lost City and there is for sure some funny stuff going on with collision.

I've tried to spin attack a few lizard enemies; I definitely touched them while spinning but they somehow stand there unharmed. Then Coco will run in the opposite direction... without me touching the D-pad at all. I almost fell into a pit before I frantically pressed buttons to get back in control of her.

There needs to be patches on the horizon.

Put these guys on another trilogy with Team Racing, Wrath of Cortex and Twinsanity and then do Spyro afterwards.

Speaking about The Lost City. Was there anyone else who kept missing the N. Brio portal and instead got burnt to a crisp?
