Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

Oh, I kind of expected something since, IIRC, Destiny got some sales PR during its very first day in the market.

Extremely rare to have sales PR for a game literally the day it came out (in NA).

If it sold super well, then maybe Monday. Lots of games don't get any PR sales updates for weeks if they sell bad, mediocre, or even just good.

Just started tonight. Crash 1 is nostalgic, and wow what a huge jump in visual fidelity, but man is it painful to play. There were a couple areas on the first island that have already pushed me close to rage quitting. Collision and controls just feel so off, like I'm fighting with them constantly, missing jumps, etc. This should not be happening in any platformer. Level design in general is so lacking too. I mean, I get that this is from 20+ years ago, so I can cut it some slack, but I do hope that Crash 2 and 3 feel better than this.

Man.

I managed to 100% Crash 1 (not the relics, the 100% only accounts for gems/ completion). I have a few relics though, everything up to Native Fortress (which started annoying me) and a few after. Spent a bit of time learning Sunset Vista. It's kinda weird how half of the relics I have are platinums that took one try and the other half are golds I had to do over at least 5 times to get.

Ended today's session (well, it's 5am here now, I've been playing since I finished work yesterday lol) with the first two levels of Crash 2. The difference in controls is night and day. They've definitely made improvements to Crash 1 in terms of how it controls (as well as the numerous welcome new gameplay features) but it's already significantly the most difficult of all 3. The fact that gold relics are part of the trophy set for Crash 1 just makes it incredibly challenging on its own.

Surprisingly cleared Slippery Climb (gem and all) on my first go. The Lab was another story. Think it took me about 40 lives. Having to leave and re-enter and do that annoying bonus stage every time really killed, but ah the nostalgia. I suppose in some way having the no-death condition for the coloured gems in Crash 1 is a neat throwback to the fact that original Crash 1 is pure hell in this respect in every single level. I'm a huge crash fan and I think I've only 100%d Crash 1 once in my entire life. 2 and 3 I pretty much do on a regular basis since they're so accessible. Looking forward to digging into the new versions more when I've slept some.

Crash 3 is kind of disappointing. The game feels... cheaply made and there's more non-platforming levels than I remember. And it's too easy apart from times where you're fighting bad controls (bike and underwater levels). I loved this game as a kid but it's kind of boring now.

It's also the ugliest of the trilogy, somehow. I guess Crash 2 was the only truly excellent game in the series. This remake has confirmed its classic status.

I'm with everyone on the bridge stuff. Just gave up there for the night after reaching a point where I swear I cannot physically jump far enough.

I never did play much of the games when they first came out, and they feel their age for the most part.

I decided to stop for the night after beating Pinstripe. I should be able to finish Crash 1 tomorrow if I don't get too stuck on the platinum relic time for Slippery Climb.

I wonder if you guys are looking at CTR with rose tinted glasses too.

I hear so much hype from that game and I want it to be good.

I played CTR for the first time just a few years ago. It's one of my favorite racers ever made.

I love the difficulty on Crash 1. I don't know but there's just a certain feeling in getting through and mastering them. It's not that "omg this is complete utter bullshit I'll never do this" difficulty but more of that "damn this is hard as fuck, guess I'll keep trying until I get it" kind that's the sweet spot.

The music is pretty great as well, they've updated it nicely. Look forward to hearing C2 and C3's.

Loading times are killing me.
Trying to get a coloured gem and die.
Back out to the map. Load. Load. Load. Load.
Back in to the level. Load. Load. Load. Load.

The bridge stuff was always bullshit in Crash 1 even when it came out. It's just hard and you just have to die over and over to gauge the jumps. Really not much more too it than that

Playing Crash 1 and im doing good so far. Ive hit most of the levels so far that seem to be giving people here the most trouble and theyve given me issues too. I refuse to let this game beat me lol so ive just fought through them.

Game is gorgeous and for the most part the controls are as i remember. Definitely have stuck my middle finger up at my tv more than once when crash just walks off a ledge or misses an obvious direct hit and dies when i spin attack. Collision issues are there, no doubt about it.

I just finished Road To Nowhere in Crash 1 and yeah, it's hell but not that bad once you get into the flow. I did lose about 15 lives trying it over and over again though.

The plane and jet ski levels in Crash 3, my god were they this difficult to control before? The bike levels aren't so bad once you get used to the drifting however.

I'm definitely loving the trilogy but the load times are horrible, even if only 10 seconds. They add up when you try to redo a level or something.

Best wishes.

This is an extremely impressive remasterit's crazy how good the game looks, but in a weird way still looks the same. It's almost like they just added more polygons to everything.

This is me every 5 minutes playing Crash 1

Only every 5 minutes? Like others, I have no clue how I beat this as a kid. I was considering recording video on a few levels to look at still frames because the hit boxes on some stuff is so fucked up. I'd swear I jumped over something and just die to it anyway. Makes me feel crazy.

I hope they patch in a "retry level" option, even if it takes 10 seconds to reload... having to quit out and go back in suuuuucks.

Ouch, I was considering picking up the trilogy and avoiding Crash 1. But now it sounds like the only game worth playing is 2? Not worth $40 just for 2...

Played for a couple of hours.

Made the mistake of jumping into the game and going for all the boxes on my first run. Got a game over on the first level. LOL.

Started using the Dpad and finally got used to it after a bit. Going for gold relics has taken up most of my time so far.

Boulder ended up being super easy after Uncharted 4, and that's where I stopped for now.

How quick are the load times in between deaths?
Pretty much instantaneous. Loading screen only happens when you exit or start a new level or get a game over. If you're just going for a normal or all-boxes run (where you can die and restart from a checkpoint to get through a level) that's no issue at all.

Call me a pessimist or defense force or whatever, but that "sliding off the platforms" thing sooomehow only ever seems to happen to me when I fuck up and cause it to. I'm not "making it and being pushed off", I'm not making it. I don't get that complaint at all, it's always been pretty obvious to me I just let go too soon or jumped too early :V And it also seems to not be a complaint anyone has until late in the game, so to me it's like, how many of the 26 levels do you need to play before you understand how the physics feel?

IDK, maybe I'm too forgiving or something, but I don't see how it's the game's fault or unfair or bad when it clearly only happens when I'm not playing right :V

Lol.

And to think it was technically one of the best looking games on the PS1.

I guess it doesn't hold up as well when graphical parity is reached with Crash 2.

I agree. So far all of the deaths I've had are user error and they look exactly the same as the ones others are blaming the game for. Not saying there aren't cases where the game can glitch, there may be vids out there, but I haven't seen it. The stuff that I'm seeing complaints about is user error.

The game rules are in place and there's no coddling/safety buffer, if you miss it by just that much, the game isn't going to let you have that jump like some other games may.

Finished the Lost City and there is for sure some funny stuff going on with collision.

I've tried to spin attack a few lizard enemies; I definitely touched them while spinning but they somehow stand there unharmed. Then Coco will run in the opposite direction... without me touching the D-pad at all. I almost fell into a pit before I frantically pressed buttons to get back in control of her.

There needs to be patches on the horizon.

You can't spin the lizards while they're on the ground. Not everything you fail at is a glitch, you know.

Crash 1 is definitely way easier than before now that you don't need to save by beating the bonus stages and you can do them over and over to pass.

That said I still lost a ton of lives especially on road to nowhere.
