Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

You guys made it sound like Native Fortress was going to cause me to have multiple Game Overs but I only had a net loss of 1 life. Whew.

Edit: I can tell that the time trial is going to be unfun though.

I did Native Fortress in like fifteen minutes or so. Lost 12-15 lives I guess. Thanks to those who hinted about
background
when it comes to the three flames. That part would probably have mere 1% success rate otherwise.

Had only lost three lives prior to reaching roof and thought this was kind of a cakewalk but the roof is the real test.

Game definitely suffers a little from input lag. And the edges are brutal in Crash 1 as if half your body mass land on the edge you slip off.

Bailed out at Slippery Climb and went to Crash 2.

I only played 2 once back in the day, but I remember it being my favorite. It's so much better than 1 in every feasible way. The hub world, the level design, the different themes for areas outside of lab and jungle, the music, it's all great.

Crash 1 is still a good game. It's just brutal... and its sequels one-up it.

These games with beautiful CG make them have a strong Donkey Kong Country vibe to them. They really are more 2D than 3D in most stages, just (sometimes) with a behind the back perspective.

I just started the first crash

I dont understand how im missing so many boxes

I go into those bonus levels and destroy them all too, yet almost every level I miss at least like 10.. How?

Also im guessing some of these transparent platforms near the end of stages that I cant jump on become active if I manage to get all the boxes?

Crash 1 is definitely way easier than before now that you don't need to save by beating the bonus stages and you can do them over and over to pass.

You also get extra health if you die too much and there are hints on the loading screens so yeah, it's definitely been made easier. Still much harder than people might be used to these days :)

A number of levels have those coloured platforms that become active if you get all the boxes in certain other levels without losing a life.

you can't use those transparent platforms till the coloured gem needed for them

you get coloured gems by beating specific levels later in the game with out dieing and getting all the boxes

I don't see a number 4 so I guess that's me ayyyyyyyy

The High Road... Do I really want to do this?
You don't want to

But you must

Easy way to get extra lives in Crash 1:

In The Lost City, there are certain bat spawn points that repeat infinitely. If you stand just outside their range, you can spin attack them and get apples from them. Do it as long as necessary to get as many lives as you want.

Native Fortress in Crash 1.

I lost way too many lives.

Jesus Christ Road to Nowhere kicked my ass, but I feel like it's a really good level to practice the actual platforming. Had to retry like 6 or 7 times but when I finally beat it it didn't lose a single life.

Vicarious really should have ditched lives system.

Rayman Origins didn't bother with lives and it was perfect.

Lives are silly in the year 2017.

That's what they want you to believe, then you get to The High Road and realize you didn't learn shit.

Just tried CB2 now and it's night and day to CB1. Camera is more zoomed out and the levels are wider giving Crash more breathing space.
I suspect some input lag is still there (I mean, it's one engine) but he accelerates more instantly giving it a better feel.

Finished Crash 1, 'll worry about platinuming them all once I've finished all my basic run throughs. I hate the thought of having to get all the crates and not die on some of these levels.

I got every gem in crash 1 and the only trophies left for it are the time relics.

Can someone please fucking tell me why lost city's color gem is so ridiculous.

BEAT TWO BONUS STAGES AND YOU CANT DIE

ON THIS LONG ASS LEVEL WITH ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET SOME COLLECTIBLES.

STOP

Wow fuck native fortress I tried that level like 10 times and just quit. Moved on to crash 2, also this game is super pretty the waterfall and ice level in crash 2 are so nice looking.

I'm feeling pretty proud after dying about 5-7 times in Native Fortress total after reading this thread.

Yep, it's hard as balls. And when you beat it, it feels great.

It was really only the floor with the three flames near the end that gave me trouble.

You can die in the bonus stages I believe and still get the break every box without dying gem

I hope you knew you can die on the bonus stages.

Im saying if you die at any point in that level you have to then redo the level and collect everything again and do both bonus stages again.

Its the hardest gem in the game by far. Slippery Climb is a close 2nd.

I should have worded my post better.

Just to give you a bit of piece of mind: you can die on bonus stages and still get the gem. I died on the Tawna stage and got the gem about an hour ago

Feels so good to get that damn green gem in Lost City. By the time I actually did a perfect run, I didn't even die in the bonus stages. You bet your ass I saved that video clip lol

Hm, if you think so this actually gives me some confidence in getting 100% since I didn't think it was too bad. Took me about 3 tries.

Although I bet I haven't seen the true bad stuff.

It could just be a bad level for me cause the other color gems didnt take nearly as many tries.

The Lab has a tough gem but Lights Out and Toxic Waste are piss easy.

Wanna show us?

This is such a joy to play. The difficulty in Crash 1 feels perfect to me. I'm a bit worried that 2 and 3 will be too easy now, I forgot exactly how they played.
