Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy |OT| N.Teresting and N.Tertaining N.Fographics With-N

I lost over 50 lives on the high road! I feel like the turtle hit boxes are off because I went back to the PS1 and I could do it easier.

Feel like something might be up here. It's insanely hard to get the right distance from jumping on all the turtles. I never had quite so much difficulty with it before either.

Beat Crash 1. Will continue picking at 100% but moving onto 2 now. The High Road was definitely the level that ate the most lives for me because of those damn turtles.

Is it me or are the controls a little off for Crash 2. All the more "twitchy" stuff I used to pull off, I can't do. Feels like a delay to a lot of his movement.

I feel there is a slight amount of input lag...or something. I played Crash 2 and 3 for the first time fairly recently and didn't have any issues with the controls. Now they seem to hamper my progress every now and then.

The Digital Foundry video sold me on the remake release. I've completely forgotten everything about Crash, but those games were remarkable. Crazy how well ND was working the PS1 hardware.

Yeah, same. I've never done as poorly as I'm doing right now. Hopefully they'll fix it.

I just beat High Road after dozens of deaths and it felt great. That level is pure platforming excellence as you really have to pinpoint every jump. It took me a while just getting through the first section to the checkpoint. I'm glad this one didn't have a colored gem. Road to Nowhere is a cakewalk compared to this one. Then, I beat the next level (I forget the name) with the long section in the beginning.

- Input lag.
- Crash/Coco feels heavier; not enough height on their jumps. (I have to slide jump every time just to get up on platforms that shouldn't need to do a SJ.
- Hitboxes on enemies/traps/projectiles are inconsistent.
- Controls on riding levels are almost unplayable.

Fix this ASAP VV. It's not as fun with these current mechanics.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one... surprised DF didn't report on this.

Is it me or are the surfboard controls on levels like Hang Eight in Crash 2 kinda weird? I keep turning in the opposite direction I expect.

i definately think crash 1 is off slightly i have died around 20 times some times randomly and i have played crash bandicoot religiously on ps1/ps vita/ps3

For sure, I've had a lot less problems with the PS1 version. There's some issues with collision in the remake and it becomes a problem because the game demands precision. Occasionally I will clip off an edge trying to land a jump and fall to my death. Never had a problem with that in the original game; if I died from a jump I knew it was my fault. Here it's much more unclear.

VV ought to be sent a list of fixes that they need to adress

I guess I'll just never finish Crash 1. This Native Fortress level is straight up impossible and I regularly lose over ten lives any time I attempt it. Guess we will just move on to the awesomeness that is Crash 2 now before I'm ready to endure that level again.

Temple Ruins in Crash 1 has pissed me off in a way that a game hasn't been able to do to me since Super Meat Boy

EDIT: Road to Nowhere is worse. I'd be much more forgiving of VV's poor collision detection causing me to slide off of ledges I have landed on if they at least removed the archaic lives system. At least we have the rope trick!

I do not notice any form of input lag, you sure that aren't your TV settings? Or do you happen to play with sticks? Those have a huge deadzone.

Also, you know that Crash jumps higher if you keep the jump button pressed instead of tapping it?

I also have to disagree about the riding levels, they're absolutely perfectly playable. At least in Crash 1 + 2, haven't started 3 yet.

Just finished the high road. Thank fuck.

Cheese the hell out of the bridge ropes by walking along them. Was sweating heavily towards the end of the level with nerves. Lost at least 50 lives on it.

Skipped past Crash 1 and 2 and went right to Warped (best Crash IMO). Wow what a nostalgia rush. Feels just like 1997. Everything feels just right. It's fun trying to remember all the secret areas
only one I immediately remembered was the UFO sign in night motorcycle level
. CTR better be next...

I think I lost more lives trying to cheese High Road than if I actually tried to play the level normally

I cheesed the hell out of it 2 times, it worked nicely. Fuck High Road!
Edit: I fucking smile like a kid when I play through Heavy Machinery and Castle Machinery.

I think the input is a way to describe it being off, the timing for jumps, jumping over enemies isn't as responsive as it should be.

I hope they fix it soon :(

There is definitely a bit of lag. It's not my TV, as I use this TV for every game I play and am very sensitive to input delay. I'm also using the dpad.

I feel ashamed to admit that I also cheesed it but I lost 50 lives trying to beat it normally so the game left me no choice when it let me retry with 5 lives.

Crash 3 released in1998 ;)

Same here, I tried yesterday and just called it a night, today I woke up and immediately went back to it. Ain't nobody got time to beat it the regular way.

Tfw you get the diamond but forgot to sack the crystal

Weird, I generally tend to notice it too. Maybe it's an issue that doesn't affect everybody

I'm calling it, I hate Crash 1. It's a game that works against the player and I'm not going to even attempt to get fun out of it anymore. Crash 1 is shit game and no amount of nostalgia goggles will convince me otherwise. Thankfully Naughty Dog discovered game testing with the sequel.

Having just played a bit of PS! Crash 1 there's definitely a bit of a delay in controlling Crash in the remake.
Crash just doesn't feel as responsive as he does in the original.
Every time you jump you have to take into consideration the delay that occurs before he actually jumps. It makes the whole game just feel sluggish to play.

... so things not going well huh buddy?

Alright, got all the coloured gems in Crash 1. Turns out Lights Out's is very easy ><

I'm also feeling no problems with input lag or control issues (other than the ones already in Crash 1). Feels really faithful to me.

I'm honestly baffled reading some of what's been written in this thread. How on earth are some of you finding Crash 1 so hard?

This isn't even a tough platformer. Have you played Super Meat Boy?

Super Meat Boy is a game that is tuned to its difficulty, and yes I have beat it. That game doesn't punish you for losing, there is no life system. Here a lot of the levels can be overlong and Crash can be a chore to control compared to the other games on the disc.

Also I'm a sore loser, so fuck that game :D

I think a lot of people having 'input lag' issues might be getting confused by the fact that the movement controls are purely digital on both the D-pad and sticks.

With this game, I feel like when I was young, I was a strong guy and now that I'm older, I am a newbie. How did I 105% CB3 with All Platinum Relics ? Now I can barely get them

Yeah, which is understandable though, especially for newcomers or those who haven't played it in forever. I recently played a little bit of the ps1 trilogy just to prep and it controls almost exactly the same, a tiny smidgen better in fact. It can be tough at times(which I like), but I have not died from anything I didn't do myself.
