But I don't worry about me. I'm worrying about others getting the wrong message. For example in that game I was talking about on the first position was a guy who had 1 kill and no specials used. And at the end of the game he got the message that he was the best of the team so he should keep doing what he is doing. And we won, so he will be still up there for the future games too.

How else would you do it, though? It would be incredibly hard to disaggregate individual performance from team performance in any kind of consistent manner. I've been with some crazy-good players who amounted barely any kills and just understood to control territory really well.

Is Splatoon 2 any fun if you're not into team deathmatch games. I know there's no good voice chat (outside of discord), but do you have to use effective team strategies to have fun? I'm more of a lone wolf type of player so always shy away for team multiplayer games.
Thank you in advance!

I mean, you'll obviously do much better working as a coherent team, but then, most Splatoon player aren't because of the limitations to doing so, so I wouldn't worry about it

I don't play with anyone else and it's great fun. Even if your Team sucks you can still go for a good personal score.

Those really need to learn this ain't team deathmatch and start inkin some turf. Lost most of my games due to this issue.

I love those people, I just keep rolling my roller around while seeing them trying to shot my back. Wait till I almost run out, refill and turn around to quickly splat them then go on my merry way of laying more ink out.

I play on my own and play pretty much only turf wars and singleplayer. Turf war isn't a TDM game so just have fun laying brightly colored awesome ink around with the occasional splat and you are gonna have a good time :)

Voice chat with randos is a HUGE no no for me, so I wouldn't be using it even if it were easy. And even still, it's ENTIRELY easy to play. Just use the map and watch your teammates and any good player will know how to play with you. I'm having a blast and not even considering voice chat for anything but stuff with friends.

I only just realised as I got to rank 10 that Recon lets you do a stage by yourself to get familiar with it before having to do the actual thing.

That's pretty good.

Holy shit this capture-the-flag mode is the worst thing I've ever played. I'm never going to get a single win in this mode with these fucking idiot teammates who don't know the rules.

Holy shit how the fuck are you supposed to ever be able to level up in ranked? All my teammates are idiots who don't understand the rules.

Ranked mode is fucking impossible unfun bullshit. I hate this mode and I hate the people who designed it.
Geez dude. I don't think this game is for you. Especially if you're gonna start putting the blaming solely on others.

There should be an EMP ability that disables other abilities.

The Spam gets real at times and the meta at the moment is Ink jetpack and Curling bombs all over the place

Ink jetpack I can deal with - just disengage, they're giving up mobility.

Curling bombs can die in a hole, because they can shut off your movement if used well and they force you to engage on totally unfair terms. An experienced player using them is terrifying.

here's the trick with curling bombs: jump over that shit and get right up in their face. 60% of enemies forget you can still fire in the middle of a bomb rush

I'm not sure how is this relevant in the context of the discussion (team top in splatzones). I would rank the players by their actual performance in the said match, not by the history. Since that history is not common for the players anyhow. It would make sense to use history/consistency if it would team up with the same players for several matches at least.

Thing about curling bombs is that they travel quite a bit and are really slow before they explode.

So more often than not when they're spamming they aren't swimming in the trail which is actually what the curling bombs are good for. Which means they are slow as fuck spamming those bombs that aren't covering him at all, and if he's moving he's not spamming.

So after constantly failing to win duels and never getting enough kills, I finally switched motion controls on.

I get it now.

ahaha i outdueled 3 squids in a row before succumbing to the third, but tied 'em up long enough to win the splatzone

that's enough for me tonight... this duelie varient is bomb

If you're having problems on ranked C-, C or even B- don't blame the game, if you're so good you should be able to carry your team. Granted right now there are a lot of "false" C rank players, but in a few days all the vets and good players will be gone from the low ranks. If you're still there then maybe it's your place...just assume it and don't forget that the ultimate objective is to have fun, so go play some Turf War or Salmon Run if ranked isn't giving you that.

Rank mode needs a week or so to properly place players theres even e sports skill players there sometimes.

After people have settled at their proper ranks it should be alot easier to climb up.

Had no problem in Splatoon 1 playing ranked in 2017. But theres alot of different skill matched players now being matched with newbies, high skilled, decent etc.

ranked when ranked got patched in didn't even have TC, it was just rainmaker and splatzones for 4 hour chunks.

awful. 2 hours is the perfect length

The sad thing is this is the norm for teambased games. I've never played a team based game where this doesn't happen.

It's also why people don't like RTS games as much anymore. Broodwar is one of the best games ever made, but people will likely not run to play remastered. They can't blame anyone else when they lose.

I'm in love with this game. When I watched videos and read reviews about the first I always wondered what was the fuss about, as it didn't strike me as anything special. After playing it... man, the core gameplay is just incredibly fun. Charm and personality is off the charts. I shrugged at Arms and Splatoon 2 back when Switch was getting revealed, but bought them out of curiosity and they are my favorite Switch games other than Zelda. I think they are even better than Mario Kart.

edit: I do think some decisions are pretty stupid, though. If it was any other game I probably wouldn't bother with it anymore.

I just had the weirdest match. Someone managed to kill me six time with a sniper when I was hiding behind a wall. No way those shot could've been a direct hit, yet, all did splat me :/

Let me tell you that it doesn’t get better once you reach A rank :p
A rank was the worst, there was a mix of highly skilled players, decent ones and somehow people who had no clue wtf they were doing. It took me the longest to get from A to A+ and there was a lot of salt involved.

The ticket dupe trick feels dirty but I now have about 28 tickets, that will hold me for a while.

For those who do not know, the ticket you can find in the second area of the single player overworld map can be recollected if you zone out to inkopolis and back, they will fix this soon i'd imagine.

*edit* I see people are already talking about it, it's going to spread like wildfire so I would not worry about hiding it.

Yea man just kill them!

Bullshit.

The gun is basically unmatched up close and what's the point trying to outrange them when curling bombs beat any attempt at inking towards ay sort of target.

It's probably the quickest built up super in the game

That weapon is such a pain, it covers ground twice as well as most other weapons and only needs 170p to get it's special, it's also powerful for such a weapon.

I tried searching but I haven't seen it-

Has anyone had an issue where the gyro gets stuck facing upwards, and even pressing Y does nothing to recenter the vertical tilt? This happened to me while I was reclining in bed and sorta holding the Switch diagonally upwards. Is this a hardware problem or does Splatoon 2 prevent you from recentering properly when the Switch is at a certain angle? Can anyone else test this?
