Not asking them to remove it, no. They ideallyneeded to make sure that those Hero weapons were ready for release day.
Its just weird that the unlock doesn't work the same as the other weapons.

I went through the unlock process of with the Brella specifically because it wasn't a weapon type already available in Turf War. Having it unlock when it unlocks for everyone else gives you zero incentive for playing through single player for it.

Just like the other Hero Weapons? It would be weird if all of the Hero Weapons were just different looking weapons except this one which nobody else can use.

Don't get me wrong, the Brella was the first one I cleared all the stages with, a day after I got the game. While I was initially disappointed that it didn't unlock, I get why it's like that.

(Also unless you're level 20 already you wouldn't be able to buy it anyway...)

I still cannot figure out how to jump to a teammate on respawn. Do I do it right after I die, before I appear on the spawn point? Is there another button I'm supposed to press?

I've been bringing up the map and using the directional buttons to choose someone - I see them highlight but then nothing happens.
Once you highlight a player or object, press A to jump to the target. You have to be alive to super jump. You can also highlight by using the gyro and mousing over a target.

Working from home is pretty awesome, but it's hard to concentrate on writing sensitive stories for deadline when your Switch and Splatoon 2 are staring at you from across the room...

Y'ALL KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS... Not now, Pearl... Not now.

went on a big losing streak, guess that's enough splatoon for today

on the bright side, i finished the campaign. pretty fun overall, although the constant sheldon requests were kind of annoying. at least i won't have to worry about that when i go back to get the sea scrolls.

final boss was cool, although
the ending felt a bit abrupt i guess? and i was kinda hoping callie and marie would appear somewhere in inkopolis square, but oh well

Bought Splatoon 2, still fun but I find myself disappointed at the missed potential here.

The core gameplay is still great, but it still has those annoyances from Splatoon 1 that I thought would be improved/fixed in the sequel.
Agreed. Salmon rush is really great as well, but everything about the online is a convoluted mess.

Turf Wars is pretty relaxing when you kinda just tune everything out. I probably average 700, at least that's what I aim for. Only way I don't got that is if we get totally dominated and I can't leave base.

Otherwise I'm just like that guy mowing his lawn with a tornado behind him.

I've been amazed how much better I've gotten in a short period of time (and that's after getting shit on from my friends for not using motion controls). I still get splatted in the dumbest ways from time to time (such as a roller coming in from behind me), but it's been nice seeing me leading in splats while pulling in a decent p score at 1st or 2nd in my team.

Though I've got to say, one of the turf wars matches was simply unfair in my team's favour. Someone must've DC'd or something bc when the team spawning animation showed up before the start, it showed 4 of my teammates vs. 3 of theirs. No surprise that it went something like 70+% to their 15-18%. Thought that was kind of silly to allow 4v3.

I'm pretty new to Splatoon, what is a Freshness bonus? I've gotten it a few times and 3000 XP is nothing to fuck around with. Is it just like a "good performance" award?

Also, only played Turf War so far, and there's an Icon with my weapon on it in the lobby screen with a description next to it (don't remember what it says, by it's usually wetness related) and what looks like a meter. Is that my skill with the weapon?

What is a good average for a Roller? I think a Roller should never get less than 600 and I just finished a game where the other team had a Roller that scored 298. Seriously, how?

Splitting off this edit into its own post, didn't know new ones were made.

Edit: oh yeah a super helpful thing to know for Rainmaker: Supers refill your ink tank. If you have a Bomb (other than Burst Bombs) you can throw one, use Super, throw another for a near instantaneous pop.

Also HECK YEAH BUCKET MAN KILLED THE ENEMY IN SLAM DUNK ANIMATION AND WE CAME BACK FROM 0-99 IN RAINMAKER :D

Freshness bonus is when you win with the weapon you are using so many times that it reaches max level (10 for Fresh!). I dunno if it resets but every weapon combo has it.

I can only assume the reason we dominated this map despite having 2 chargers and a blaster was because of the AFK

I don't know that there really are averages for weapons, especially since they can be played in different roles. It's more like there's just a line they should cross. Rollers can honestly stay at 500~ and still be considered the MVP of the team. If they're playing main defense, for example. GAF's PreyingShark could certainly vouch for that!

I kind of understand when a roller has low points. Usually a roller, like a charger, plays to splat than to ink. I played with a roller that had only a little above 400p without the bonus, but has racked up more than 20 splats.

Holy shit

I just won my team a tower control match with a triple kill splashdown on the tower when it was right past the first checkpoint, and I finished the game from that alone.

I wish video replays were a thing. The scoreboard doesn't do it justice.

Just had something that I wish I could record, too. If only.

I just learned today the super jump marker has a progress display in the arrow. You know exactly when the player is gonna land..
This was actually in the first game, too, but it was a lot less noticeable. Arrows would close in to signify exactly when someone was going to touch down.

I have an Elgato, but was playing in handheld mode when it happened.

I have a cheap old Avermedia, but I have nowhere to power it from where the Switch dock is plugged in. :l

I intended on streaming/recording everything until I realized that lol

Okay, how on earth to you spawn on the map/teammates? I don't understand it.. I press X to open the map, then choose my spawnpoint and... what? I tried everything but I always spawn at the start.

Are the final round scores tallied exclusively from area covered with ink, or do splats and specials count too? And is it how much of your ink still remains, or just how much ink you put down that mattered (ie on bare spots or enemy ink)?

When waiting for a new match to start there is an arrow in the top left corner that shows my current weapon, a flag, a progress bar, and a number. What's that all mean?

Does this game have an actual manual? So much of it is unclear a few hours in.

I can understand and respect that. If you can't ink, shut down the other team. When you don't kill and you get a low score, I kept help but wonder.

When your teammate runs right past the goal with the Rainmaker on the Reef and tries to plant it on the enemy spawn...

Would it kill some people to do Recon before jumping into Ranked?

Turf War (what it sounds like you are talking about) is whichever side has the most ink on the ground at the end. Walls don't count, only floors. Splats explosions cause more ground to be covered, specials do too.

The flag thing is just how you are doing with that weapon. The progress bar and number are your point gauge for leveling up. Leveling up allows you to buy new weapons and eventually unlock ranked.

No wonder I've never managed to time the bombs correctly when I got punished every time, I was ignoring those meters for hundreds of hours lol
I'd say it's still not very noticeable in this game either unless you know where to look at.

I had one run the Rainmaker back towards our goal... We lost because of him, they got it and where able to finish

My win/loss record is absolutely abysmal... I feel like every match I lose, my team is more preoccupied with killing the other players than they are inking the arena. It's kind of discouraging.
A familiar feeling, when you're the one with the Spalttershot Jr, and still hold the inking crown, with rollers on your team getting 'kills'.

New pet peeve. Team that takes defeat from the jaws of victory because they over did it and got themselves wipe with less than a minute to go in the match, leaving me to deal with the entire team since I stood back and guard the middle. Some times I hold it, other times I get overwhelmed.

On the bright side, my win record is now 31/19. I have to admit, play Rank really did up my game in Turf War. My kills have gone up and my ink laying have vastly improved. Guess I should play Rank more often since I want at least a B- in one of them, even though I have no one to play League Battle with.

Rollers getting kills is fine.
Rollers' main niche is getting kills.
You need kills and coverage to win games. In all modes.

On another note, holy cow Ink Armor is freaking bonkers in Tower Control. It's better than Bubbler ever was. That's saying a lot. If an Ink Armor Blaster is ever put in, it WILL be the new Neo Luna Blaster. And I will never play Tower Control again. >_>

Wait, did I say LuNeo? I meant Custom Range. But LuNeo is just as annoying.

I just learned today the super jump marker has a progress display in the arrow. You know exactly when the player is gonna land..

A word of caution, however. If the arrow indicator doesn't seem to be depleting after enough time, the enemy is using a splashdown superjump. Learnt this the hard way. ^^

Best thing to do is time splat/suction bombs on the jump point so they explode when they land. Or hit them safely from a distance. Don't camp the jump points, or you'll get cooked.

anyone know exactly what causes you to skip some ranks? won all my tower control matches in the C bracket (most by knockout) in less than 1 minute and only ranked up to C+ 😑😑😑

It's been a while since I played the first game, but I don't quite remember Tower Control straight up being a Suction Bomb spamfest.

I noticed this yesterday, every mother fucker using an Nzap just to get those suction bombs.

I was guilty of using them myself during the first game, but haven't found a weapon I like yet that has them as a sub.
