I just feel like this will be dead a few weeks after it's out. Thankfully you can play it alone cause otherwise it would seem like a lot of wasted resources. Still haven't touched the game since the carnival event but I've been downloading every piece of DLC and update that comes out.

You can hate the game and want it buried or you can love it and buy all the merchandise, that's fine. My point was more that this is a game discussion board with a variety of voices that will have opinions all across the spectrum when it comes to the game and that every thread could be easily boiled down to "I HATE XV" and "SHUT UP HATERS" these days.

Maybe I'll start staying out of XV threads as you suggest since they're lacking a lot of what makes discussion compelling, but I'd wish instead that people could just discuss the game and let others discuss the game without turning it into a show of how much one hates the impressions of others, be they positive or negative.

This, you sound like a person with your own head far up your own ass with the hate or a annoying stan mouth piece for the game.

Gaf (or just FF fanbase) is fucking terrible at making more reasonable toned posts.

Not exactly how I would have phrased it, haha, but this post cuts to the heart of the matter very elegantly.

I mean, you wouldn't see people aggressively defending any game if there weren't people who can't help but come into threads and shit on topics that aren't even about the currently released content. I mean, how many threads do you need to post the same "this game is shit" in before you think you're getting your point across.?

Opinions can't be invalid when they're personal. You can hate, be indiferent or love a game as much as you want and no one can say you're wrong about how you feel. What is not productive though is to keep visiting threads of a game you hate just to tell others how much you hate it. What's the point? We had several threads like this already, it's always the same. Trust me, there's nothing i would like more than just discussing the game as well specially with new updates coming up, but it's hard when the same people feel the cosmic need to drive by and repeat the same posts about the game being bad and how they're not interested in playing it anymore. It's basically trolling at this point despite their feelings still being correct. It just feels pointless and petty to me. But you do you - no need to leave the thread because someone disagree with you. Last word on this subject as well so we won't derail the thread much further

Look. Ignoring them is fine however what usually happens here is that a negative post then brings a whole flock of negative posts one after another and its becomes increasingly difficult to ignore them because they are right in your face in such threads.

I was trying my best to ignore the comments made on the first few pages but then the negatively just spiraled out of control. It was tiring to see the same people basically repeating their same mantra in a thread about DLC that was promised in Season Pass within a few days after launch of the game when the details were revealed for it. It is like the people are being willfully ignorant just so they can either share a driveby post or just show their disdain and hate for the game, even if this is not the thread for it.

I agree. I think we all could take it down a notch.

Let's instead discuss the beta and how we think the mechanics will work and differ from the single player version of it to the multiplayer version. I also want to see who here on GAF is playing so I can see those "elite skills" I hear so much about.

My feedback toward this piece of content is that it includes a more robust gear system than the base game, which is very dumb. That's all. The game doesn't need to die, but this isn't the game, this is a pair of shiny keys to distract people from the main course.

It's not only arbitrary, it's pointless.

Final Fantasy is not the type of series to maintain super high user review scores anyway. It's far too old, and changes far too much. It's just a recipe for scorned fans. It's useful for stroking your dick to your own opinion and nothing more.


A far more..telling interpretation (to me anyway) would be how the game seems to maintain both very generous user AND reviewer score averages, despite even its best reviews making no effort to cover the game's flaws.

Remove the stupid hyperbole, and even the most vitriolic posts about XV actually have some truth behind them, regarding story, developement, gameplay, polish, ect. But despite all of this, people still mostly enjoyed the game.


That's more telling than any single shortcoming the title had. It has to be -- FFXV did NOT have the benefit of doubt on its side, by any stretch of anyone's imagination. 6 years in limbo, delays, a mainline action game in a series of turn-based titles, incomplete buggy gameplay footage all over the place, a full leak of its story before release, not to mention being released after the XIII trilogy, easily the most divisive 3 FF games of all time, the last of which scored like shit with both reviewers AND users. If the game got lambasted it would have surprised no one. But it didn't.

Obviously it was the fastest-selling FF because it was the only mainline FF to be launched simultaneously worldwide. Like duh.

And if the reception was so good you guys wouldn't be whining about ppl who shit on it. A lot of people didn't like this game and it's obvious that the reception was meh overall.

That said, yes, this was announced a while ago so it's nothing unexpected. I'm fine with it as long as it's decent, is in no way an indicator of future FF's, and the Gamescom announcement is an awesome expansion.

I've actively tried to stay away from XV threads because I am aware that discussions have become worn out and pointless.

Frankly,I dont even like the series that much anymore.Its been poor ever since the XIII sequels and its not coming back.

Sooner or later I'll move on from this series,hopefully.

It is archaic. Compare it to BDO (non charge) GW2 (non charge) for example, the go here go there gameplay is from 10 years ago, no innovation whatsoever. Flame me as much as you want, its only my opinion but no need to get all defense force and call it hyperbole.

The fact it has a monthly fee dosn't mean the game itself is archaic, and the fetch quest structure is used even in current open world design formula, including FFXV.

You're right, your opinion is not hyperbole, is bullshit.

Like, that's not actively staying away from FFXV threads. That's posting in every one you see. It's the opposite of staying away. There's nothing wrong with posting in FFXV threads. There's nothing wrong with being negative about FFXV. But why would you say something that isn't true? On the internet.

I swear there is some kind of heavy delusion going on with these hate posters who might actually think they have not been posting in every single FFXV thread they see in a month. Some sick obsession.

Only just got to duscae in the main game so far and I am really enjoying the comrade style of play where they bounce off each other and keep giving each other pep talks or put downs for laughs.
The multiplayer looks interesting

without spoiling anything, (I have seen kingsglaive) is the multiplayer regards to the kingslglaive reforming?

They seemed darn cool to just be relegated to a prequel film.

I also have the season pass and I have a question I couldn't get from a google without spoiling too much.

When should I play episodes gladious and prompto?

Play Episode Gladiolus and Prompto when you notice them leave the party in the main game. It's very obvious when their DLC's end up being placed story-wise.

Gladioulus after Chapter 8 and Prompto after Chapter 12. Playing Chapter 13-2 after you are done with it in game.

I would personally do Prompto towards the end of Chapter 13 as the credits spoil an important moment in chapter 13.

Looks like it's the Hunters guild helping out people to protect the settlements from during a certain time in the game. What's confusing though is that players apparently can use Royal Sigils in the multiplayer, but Hunters are normal civilians without the king's special powers, so I'm not sure about the exact lore behind this DLC. Maybe those are forms of magic anybody can use like the Magic Flasks in the main game.

Pretty sure the main hub city will be Lestallum from what folks tell you in chapter 14 about it being the safe haven because of the lights keeping the daemons away and also from the info on the multiplayer the in-game currency is Meteor Shards, which probably are pieces of Lestallum's meteor that powers the city and region.

Oh, and you'll know yourself when to play the Episode DLCs. Just play and you'll see. You can just play them after those specific points in the story or just after the game, doesn't matter.

The fact it has a monthly fee dosn't mean the game itself is archaic, and the fetch quest structure is used even in current open world design formula, including FFXV.

You're free to have you opinion and not like the game at all. (In the same way I'm free to criticize it) But maybe try to articulate it properly. I understand ppl might not enjoy FFXIV, but archaic is not the word you're looking for.

Featureset and design wise, is as modern as it's peers in the genre and even single player RPG genre.

ARR has to many boring fetch quest? Sure. Are fetch quests archaic? Nope.
