PES 2018 Demo Impression

I do Think that PES deserves more attention, in this last years it's been shaping up as a very good game. Hope this year it will sell well.

Is this available on steam tonight in the US?

That's what I'm wondering as the US release date is the 12th, so it might unlock in the next ~6 hours or so if that's the case.

Where's the OT????

It doesn't look like anyone has claimed the OT in the community OT thread, but Blaburn did the PES2017 OT so maybe he's is doing the PES2018 OT as well?

If not, I can maybe throw one together but it may not be pretty...

Saw this on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/WEPES/comments/6ziycw/found_release_date_for_steam/

Seems like the only date anyone has been able to locate for the PC version is the 13th.

So do we know for sure if the PC version is the definitive version and not bugged out ? Any of reviews in that regard
Nvidia have a video for PES 2018 showing it working with their screenshot program Ansel...

I think Konami only released the last-gen versions on PC in previous years because they had an financial agreement with Sony to make their version the best. This year Sony have a deal with Fifa18 so Konami where free to finally release the same version on PC and PS4 and the PC version will look way better with 4k res, Reshade and a great mod scene.

Is there anything to back this up? I presumed the PC version was worse because Konami didn't have the resources for a proper PC port, or they were incompetent, not because of any marketing agreements with Sony.

Apparently kit templates are slightly different so OF's might take a little longer than usual to show up.

PES Universe have maintained there's will be releasing on Thursday.

I know there's been some discussion about paying for it, but personally for the sake of a fiver I'm OK with it. Their work is exceptional year in, year out and it makes a huge positive impact on my enjoyment of the game. I'm happy to support them.

Yeah I don't buy his theory either given the near parity of XB1. It's probably nothing more complicated than Konami realising they were missing out on an increasingly relevant PC market. Plus with the latest hardware data they had no excuse left to fall back on.

Anyone doing the OT?

PES 2018 |OT| Is the PC version ok?

Or:

PES 2018 |OT| No longer taking the PC out of customers

Thought this came out today. Nothing from the postman. Turns out it's out today in America and Thursday in places that actually care about football.

Shit on it!

Man, this game is radically different from the demo, feels slower, dribbling past defenders on Superstar difficulty is a different beast.

Glad its a lot harder just was not expecting this :)

A couple of issues:
- No CPU fouls (back to the Pes2016 days)
- Some cheap goals by the CPU and a LOT of missed chances and miracle saves, feels a tad unfair at times.

Hopefully I'll have this waiting for me when I get home. Try a few international tournaments while waiting for an OF.

I'll try the FIFA demo too but I'll probably get that on the Switch.

For me it's been Fifa for 4 years now, rewind 10 years, and it's been nothing but PES for me... Now I wouldn't mind a fresh PES experience for this season, not at all! So both demos better hit PC ASAP, for I am really excited right now:)

D...do...does this mean keepers aren't terrible? HALLELUJAH

Possible PC demo is 15th. There's always steam refunds too if you get desperate

The passing is the best I've seen in a football game for as long as I can remember. I have to give them massive credit for that at least. Shame that there are other aspects which let the game down quite a lot. Namely the shooting, but at least they've more or less mastered the passing I think.

Dribbling is hit and miss. It feels really good weaving in and out of tight spaces and pulling off quick feints with the left stick (Firmino feels really good to control oddly), but the R2 input feels horrible. I just want it to slow the play down, staying close to my foot thereby giving more control and without the ugly side-to-side movements. It's been like that for years and they haven't bothered fixing it annoyingly.

Player movement or animations still need a lot of work. They've added a lot of nice ones but still, you can see in the general play there are some passes, shots and turns which look outdated and ruin the feel. I think they spent too much time implementing superfluous and ridiculous looking flicks and outside-of-the-foot passes. It feels like playing with a team full of Aaron Ramseys and Tomas Rosickys. But seriously, the back heels are too overbearing. There was one instance of a back heel ball moving like a rocket. Lastly, please, no more floating GKs.

Shooting has to be an absolute priority next year -- no excuses. They need to make it natural, intuitive and varied. Right now it feels fake and stale. I dread 1-on-1s because I know it's not gonna do what I ask. And don't get me started on R2 shooting for the love of God.

Other nuisances include:
- Commentary
- Atmosphere
- Lack of real midfield play (not using the potential of the good passing)
- Fouls or no red cards

Postives:
- Passing
- Left stick dribbling
- Graphics
- Those tasty bicycle kicks

That reminds me... there are too many rebounded goals for both CPU and player. Feels cheap to score and concede those. Nevertheless, glad you're enjoying the game.

I miss being fouled, why would you go through the trouble of revamping free kicks if you will never see them at least in single player. Such an incredibly stupid oversight...

The no CPU fouls and horrid Goalkeeping nearly drove me insane in 2016.
