Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

Last night i got the Merciless exotic fusion rifle. When i read the perk description i was like meh. But holy crap, it's a cool weapon. The first shot takes forever to charge but each shot that doesn't get the kill makes the next one charge faster. It's not OP because power ammo is limited. And it doesn't affect pvp.

gun is a dps machine for pve and i know bungie is going to nerf it

make merciless a hard requirement for raiding. you'll enjoy your hot dog barbeque

Not really,

Makes actually pretty good sense.
(1) Beginning Game - Levels 1-20
(2) Mid Game Power Levels 200-265
(3) End Game 265+

265 essentially puts you into every endgame activity. Raid, (probably Trials), Most likely Iron Banner. All to slow the grind down a bit as you progress. (They still want you to keep playing and grind some).

Yeah I don't get this frustration AT all.

Slow down, find the gear you actually love, experiment with playstyles, and you still continue to move up every week. Clan Engrams also go up past 265 during this time, so that's 7 potential opportunities a week to hop up.

The only real downside to this system is it really favors big clans who can grind off tons of XP and clear tons of major events each week with ease.

The XP is capped at 100K every week, our clan is only 20 deep and we've hit the cap easily, you don't need a full clan to reap the rewards.

No they aren't. My last vanguard package was 271. Clan package was 272. Milestone packages have been in the 280s. I am at 284 with no raiding so far.
maybe it changes after you hit 280 just like how blues all of a sudden start dropping at 264 after you hit 265. i turned in several weapon smith packages and tokens and even a couple of vanguard tokens and everything was capped at 265. I am 271.
Milestones
saving legendary gear that drops with legendary mods
exotic drops from doing everything that involves opening a chest on a planet
turning in tokens which can yield exotics
exotic quests

the fun in doing the above is debatable, but 265 isn't as big a wall as people make it out to be.
right. all of that is pretty much reliant on your earning an exotic engram. even legendary weapons that drop with mods are useless to me because they drop at 270 max. i can infuse them in anything except for older exotics to get a 5 level buff which is useless if i already have an exotic weapon/armor piece.

the game is basically saying. go put on this xp/loot buff and hope shit drops. there is no guaranteed anything. even vanilla destiny had marks you could use to buy level 28 gear and exotics with strange coins you would earn from heroic strikes.

I'm at 274 (maxed, when equipped with gear I don't use regularly). I have a few +5 armor mods to apply, but I'm not sure I'm sticking with this gear. Should I still go ahead and use them to put me over the hump, with the idea that the mods will be more available at 280 when I can craft them?

Find gear you like to infuse upward. That way, your favorite gear can be your best gear.

There's 3 "bounties" per planet, strikes, and pvp every day?

I know.. Those three bounties take like five minutes, per planet. Then you go to Ikora and watch your rank go up by 1/3... Face_plain.

Pvp isn't as rewarding as it was in D1, I think. And I hate that we can't choose our game mode anymore. I still dabble, but i miss just grinding control.

And it's a small thing, but I wish the end match Pvp screen still showed all the group drops. I miss the salt of everyone getting something good while you get nada.

The game still announces to everyone what was dropped if its legendary or exotic.

Also I hate supremacy.

Is it possible to do nightfall strikes w two people? My gf and I tried it last night and I don't think we were even close to finishing before time ran out

If you're that good at the game, then sure.

You do 12 planet challenges in 5 minutes?

"Hardly" is a huge fucking stretch. Popped a Legendary from her on yesterday's Milestone.

Unless I'm mistaken, you always get a legendary when you rank up a vendor, right? You get, what, three tokens for completing the daily challenges and it takes 20 something tokens to rank her up, I think.

Congrats on the milestone reward?

Prob been asked but here's mine ..
After I complete the campaign with one character is the universe open to my other to characters or do I have to complete the campaign with each character?? Thanks d GAF!
Bumped new page

You still have to do the campaign with each character to open things up.

Anyone else waiting for the weekend and guides for the Raid to come out before trying? Just being completely honest here, lol.

Yup. I don't get it either. Really, this is probably the most elegant of the leveling up Bungie has done in Destiny.

Makes total sense (though making adventures fairly optional due to public events being so good is a slight misstep). The curve is relatively smooth. Of course the endgame is going to be a bit more of a grind. They aren't just going to give you full power level.

But if you don't want to do that grind, you can enjoy everything else the game has to offer.

Nah man. Going in Blind on Friday. So long as everyone adheres to the blindness. Its great...you can give the mechanics a go for awhile. Play with it. Look up the answer when folks are finally getting frustrated.

Its a good way to do it and you can get alot out of it.

You're the man!

Lol no prob.

Also the reason its better to weaken then kill later is because the more dead dogs there are during a round the less time you have before they grow restless, otherwise our original strategy of killing like two dogs a round would hands down be better.

Also you were right about sweeper bot. I looked at a video on where to find him, and he was either a plant all along or he was hacked.

I know it still shows the reward.. I just miss the drama and extra salt of seeing the picture of a God roll eyesula dropping for someone while I get two motes or something.

How in the name of the Traveller did Bungie pull it off to make PvP even worse in Destiny 2??
These matches against fireteams are pure torture.

I'm glad a part of the community is speaking up against this. Bungie needs to pair fireteams against other fireteams, not against a group of randoms.

Honestly, I'm just getting used to that stuff. Had a good PVP match but had others in which my team got steamrolled.

Maybe it is my fault for not having friends or joining a fireteam, but yeah, it can get really disheartening quite fast.

Here's my (somewhat) brief review for the raid as someone who has made it to
Calus, but hasn't beaten him
.

Beginning areas that is repeated between each encounter is relatively easy, however I feel will get very tedious very quickly as you do it a total of 4 times per raid. However, it is great for grinding legendary Engrams as typically a couple drop each time I did it.

The bath house is a lot of fun. My team did it blind and when we figured out a good strat it was hectic, required team work, but was very rewarding. This is one of my favorite encounters in the raid, as every teammate feels useful. Destroying the chandelier things is a ton of fun when everyone busts out their supers for add control.

The pleasure gardens is going to destroy guided games. This phase is tedious and requires excellent communication between watchers at the top and spore bearers. This was very challenging for my team and took many many tries to perfect the paths needed to take for each spore location. It requires each person to memorize paths and call outs. Furthermore, doing DPS is a pain in the ass as you need to find them very quickly and make sure not to kill them which increases the enrage timer. Not to mention you have no timer to let you know when to get into the safe house so you have to do it by feel. By far this is my least favorite part of the raid, and I am definitely not looking forward to teaching a new team how to do this. Even when we beat it, we beat it by the skin of our teeth.

The guantlet is quite a treat. It requires pretty much 2 mini groups of three similar to the bath house and becomes very team driven, chaotic, and fun. I was one of the runners and had a lot of fun calling out rows and parkcoring around the circle. The end phase when everyone is running is a bit chaotic and it ended with a glitch causing death upon respawn when we beat it requiring a return to orbit. This and the bath house were my favorite parts of the raid!

Calus pre-review. My team made it Calus and attempted to kill him for several hours to no avail as all of us were frustrated and exhausted after 12 hours. From my preliminary assessment, it's kinda hit or miss. I don't like it nor do I hate it. The 3 players that stay in his weird void have to deal with some janky ass barriers that I find a little too short and glitchy. My team was never able to even damage the boss because of this janky shit.

Also, exploration is awesome and I look forward to exploring the Leviathan more! Overall I give this raid an 8/10. It has some really fun parts when executed correctly and some tedious pain in the ass stuff.

Recurring Main Atrium Encounter: 3/5
Bath House: 5/5
Pleasure Gardens: 2/5
Guantlet: 5/5
Calus: 3/5
Exploration: 4/5

Also my teammate got this awesome
Scout Rifle that is full auto with firefly (VoC baby!)
