Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

Got my titan up to 292 and looking pretty cool.

I'm going to slow down my pace, to something a little more sustainable and enjoyable as I level up my Warlock and Hunter. I probably won't try the raid until sometime after Iron Banner.

My favorite part of Destiny is how you can get on and play bits of PVP or PVE content and feel like you've progressed in some way. I took some time off to play a lot of D2 and honestly felt a bit burned out after a couple of days. When I slowed down the grind, and just played the game modes I enjoy the game really got it's hooks into me. I look forward to messing around with Trails when it comes out this weekend, and settling into the weekly reset routine that makes this game so much fun for me.

Shout out to my wife for being patient with me while I put way too many hours into D2 the first week. She's the real MVP.

I love it, hated being one-shot all the time so this type of PVP appeals to me far more (I do wayyy better at this too).

Snipes and Shotguns made me cringe in D1, good to see them relegated a bit, but they still have their place for sure.

I'm actually fine with those changes it's more the team size and lack of conquest that I don't like. I'm fine with nerfing heavies and supers. Although I don't see why there couldn't be a different playlist where they were like D1.

Anyone else waiting for the weekend and guides for the Raid to come out before trying? Just being completely honest here, lol.

Yep. I'm waiting until people know the raid like the back of their hand. I love this game but I'm not that hardcore.

Keep progressing your Vanguard milestone. You probably haven't done the 2 strikes part yet for example.
I've done everything that shows up when I hit L2. I do notice that the second strike is greyed out though. Hope I'm not fucked.

EDIT: I'm going to do the first Trile again and see if it unlocks he second one.

Lol no prob.

Also the reason its better to weaken then kill later is because the more dead dogs there are during a round the less time you have before they grow restless, otherwise our original strategy of killing like two dogs a round would hands down be better.

Also you were right about sweeper bot. I looked at a video on where to find him, and he was either a plant all along or he was hacked.

Haha! That's amazing. Good strat. Makes sense.

Just two-manned the regular nightfall with a 277 titan and we still had over six minutes left when we finished. This week's is just crazy easy. May try and solo it this weekend.

Basically if you farm too fast, you'll just get glimmer from harvesting mats instead of mats themselves.

I think this applies to caches too. Every now and then, when I open a chest, I'll get nothing.

You sure that's an actual game mechanic and not a result of the servers having issues this past week? I've seen that a couple times too and figured it was just lag/server issues. Sometimes I'll open a chest and won't get anything to pop up, then I'll back up and walk back to the chest and stay close to it for awhile and then the token appears.

Sometimes you also have to run around the chests because I think the tokens are actual drops that you have to pick up. (could be wrong about this)

I'm hoping to do Rat King sometime this weekend on it. I'm certainly not going to try that on Exodus Crash next week.

Anyway, my personal issues with loot being handed out to people who didn't complete the raid, that was a phenomenal raid and hopefully a sign of what's to come from Bungie.

Yo I need to do Nightfall, haven't done it yet.

280 Titan. Invite me in someone.

PSN is Duramboros.

My mic is wonky as hell so you might not hear me at all :p

Could I ask you two to help me with Rat King-quest? I need to run Nightfall with 5 minutes on the clock when finished... :/

Honestly, I'm just getting used to that stuff. Had a good PVP match but had others in which my team got steamrolled.

Maybe it is my fault for not having friends or joining a fireteam, but yeah, it can get really disheartening quite fast.
I get that they shifted their focus to a more competitive team based gameplay but the whole aspect of casually enjoying a Crucible match alone is totally gone for me. Teamshots, people who constantly run away, the high TTK etc don't help either.
I think I might give up on this game when all the single player stuff is done, I need to accept that this is not the pvp for someone who has only one night in a week to play with his friends, I'm mostly a solo player.

A bit non-Destiny related but I'll ask here anyway. My audio setup is just a pair of headphones or sometimes earphones that I plug in through the headphone jack. I'm hooked up to a monitor that doesn't have speakers so that's my only source of audio. I have a mic but it's a separate cable that uses a 3.5mm jack so I can either connect the mic to my controller or my earphones but not both. One's useless without the other lol.

I have my PC right next to my PS4.

What can I do to have in-game audio + communication with what I have or do I need to just buy a proper headphone+mic for my PS4?

How is everyone 280, 290, 300 power? Creating second characters? I've done all the hardcore leveling guide stuff (including late milestones, exotic quests, etc) and I'm stuck in the early 270's.

Also, what's the consensus on Raid Loot? Badass or kinda meh?

If your raid group is prepared to work around it, it won't be too big of a problem. Kadey doesn't use a mic, and I've finished every raid with her. Sometimes it required special looking out (in Wrath of the Machine Aksis, she always took middle when empowered, and I called out when she was empowered) or just something like "dance emote if <x>. Helps a lot if you are willing to listen to party chat, and communicate via psn or discord texts as well.

There was (is?) a Destiny 1 clan made up of mostly deaf players, and they finished raids. Just have to figure out what you need to do to accomodate your team.

Thanks. I was considering picking up a headset but I might just roll with it.

in two words: exotics and milestones

And the idea is you're infusing most exotics into legendary armor/weapons because of the 1 exotic equip cap, right?

Be careful infusing exotics into legendaries as exotics have the +5 mod in them. Their actual power level is 5 below what they show. So make sure the legendary you are going to infuse the exotic into is more than 5 less than the exotic.

Also remember your loot drop power level looks at all your gear you own, not just what you equip. So keeping those high exotics will raise the bar at what your other stuff drops at. Then hope your legendaries drop with a +5 mod in them and use those to infuse with other legendaries that show the same power level.

I don't like how restricted the worlds feel and there are much less landmarks than before. Instead we are treated to cavernous dungeons repeatedly with a million twists and turns that make it virtually impossible to memorize the layout. I could paint a map of Old Russia it's so engraved into my head. Titan? Even after playing for months on end I think I would struggle navigating telling what is what. In favor of making the worlds larger they lost some of the uniqueness that went along with each world.

I don't really see the issue with them giving out clan loot for completing the raid. It's lower power level anyways. You still have to infuse it.

Same. But with current Hunter at 240 PL. I gave up saving lots of my legendary engrams and have been slowly turning them in and infusing to bump a PL 1-2 per gaming session.

I can only play 1-2 hours a day with a crazy life schedule but the game is great in small bites. Just did strikes and next up NF. DGAF clan is awesome to be part of as well.

Maybe gonna try and get Mida Multi Tool tonight. Loved all the loot that dropped after my first strike. Bungie has pulled off matchmaking pretty well. As a fairly casual gamer, this game is just fun even if you choose to take it in small bites.

At least you can give your new character a sparrow from the beginning.
Thats amazing if true! Anything else I should know? Just completed campaign this morn. I'm a family man, you understand. Btw where the fuck to I score My pre order bonuses and rockstar engrams ? F google.

You honestly prefer the old bounty system to this? It took longer, but most of the bounties were annoying nonsense.
I mean... It's all nonsense, really. We are shooting aliens that respawn forever for guns with bigger numbers and more sensory happiness when we hit that crit spot.

BUT.. to me, the old bounty system just felt better. The pavlovian response I felt when turning them in, the number system of ranking up factions (so you knew exactly how much xp you needed for the next package, etc) and, if there was a bounty you absolutely wanted to skip, you didn't have to pick it up.

For example, i already hate the arc titan crucible challenge of 'finish an opponent with an arc fist' because it takes me WAY longer to finish than the other two. But because it sits there, mocking me, when I pull up my challenges, I try to grind it out and run around shooting people until they are almost dead, then hoping I can finish them with a fist.

And the idea is you’re infusing most exotics into legendary armor/weapons because of the 1 exotic equip cap, right?

You're infusing them into legendaries, but not really because of the exotic cap, but because you can simply rebuy exotics. And if you really like an exotic but it's weak, you can infuse it up to good power easily.

I've put in about 35hrs and hit 282, just playing a bit of everything, not even done nightfall / raid yet

Though I will certainly reap the benefits, having those who haven't stepped foot in a raid be rewarded with raid gear is silly.

EDIT: You must be talking about the Clan Raid Reward Engram.

I actually see nothing wrong with this. It reinforces the community aspect. It gives players who may not be as hardcore into PvE a chance to raise their own power by being with cool people.
