Is there more trash in rap than other genre’s?

Its the same old problem...

No one or nobody ever wants to confront a problem if that problems focuses the light back on to them.

Its deflection always.

Social Media went from Punk'ish type rebellion to being a cancer to society.

Here fixed it for you.

Also I will never understand how people can get mad at any form of commerical media If you do not like it dont listen /watch it. Why has this become so hard these days?

Let others enjoy what you do not

Lemme walk this back. This thread is shit, OP is probably a racist but it's up to him to provide more context.

(Protip: if you hear anyone say "I like all music, well except Rap and Country" that person probably hates poor people.)

StreetCrap recited a bunch of nonsense shit from fox news that basically confirms his position moreso as a racist than a music critic. Putting the onus on people responding to his dumbass claims to explain hundreds of years of systemic racism as it relates to black music. He should be banned and then shoved down a flight of stairs.

I mean if you won't explain to him your stance in a manner becoming of one human to another and choose to instead to wish harm on him and lock him out, I mean, at what point do you have to stop and self-reflect and wonder, "Am I actually part of the problem here?"

its ok to not like rap music

it's just the people who are vocal about expressing their hate for it that are suspicious. that suggests there is something more there than just not getting the music

I dont dislike rap nor am I racist.
I grew up listening to it but now as an adult can look back and look at the current state of society and see its poison.

It doesnt "Tell a story of the struggles" it "Glorifies the story" and tells young men and women they are "weak" "not keeping it real" in these communities unless the perpetuate the stereotypes found in the music.

These kids arent out their smoking weed and getting into fights no more...you got a pill/lean culture and a war zone in major cities.

We are at the point where pretty soon smoking crack will be cool.

he doesn't because he's right

not his problem you and streetcrap haven't done your homework

It's easier if I just convince him to gluegun his idiot mouth shut than convince his lizard brian that it did a bad thought.

If the CIA flooded the inner city with Crack in the 80's...

The record industry did a great job flooding the inner cities with poison in the late 90's and still today.

Now the epidemic has crept into the very fabric of our society, while still mostly being a cancer on minority communities more so.

It's now racist to not like rap? Get over yourself.

Maybe many people just don't want to hear about guns, gangs, drugs bitches and hoe's over and over.

^ this idiot is also a racist, but one of those kinds that are too cowardly to be upfront about it and will slide a little "WHOA THINGS ARE GETTING NUTTY OVER HERE" comment to cloak it

as if youre so cultured

you dont mind that shit when it's in a video game or when it;s anime waifus instead of "bitches and hoes"

all rap has done is turn the mirror to you. and you aint like the reflection.

Me?

What homework did I miss?

I'm just trying to facilitate a higher level of conversation than has maybe ever been here.

Something beyond, "You're racist! I win. Undefeated."

Let's try to have an actual discussion divorced from our usual reflexes, programming and venom. Let's push past just shouting at each other and trying to lock people out.

Let's see what's out there beyond all that.

sorry its new to you but we've been established that StreetCarp and his rhetoric is blatantly racist

lol get a grip you dingus. I'm a dark skinned asian if you want to play that shit.

You are the one with the obvious victim complex projecting your insecurities, implying someone is racist in a pathetic attempt to silence a dissenting opinion.

Rap is responsible for so much violence, be it black on black crime or against women.

People just shrug it off as "art" or say they are telling a story about the struggles in their community but thats horseshit.

It glorifies violence and sexism unlike any other music type. Kids are taught that selling drugs is cool, that acquiring expensive clothes/jewelry is the goal (which in turn pushes the easy money scenario via crime) , that treating women as sex objects to smack around if need be is acceptable.
Prison is cool, gangs are cool, gun violence is cool etc...

Rap has nothing but put a spotlight and praise the worse individuals and I can almost guarantee it has done more harm then good for minority communities.

Rap is and has always been trash.
No adult should be listening to it. Its immature and poison.

Nothing better then seeing some other 9 to 5 slub in the car next to me blasting some song about "Money, money, drugs, hoes and Vassaci"...and better yet when his kids are in the car lol
Its why most people stop listening to it in their early 20's usually....well, white kids that is.
I'm sure we all know that "gangster" white dude from highschool who grew "past" his rap phase and realized how much of a clown he looked/acted like.
Well, first of all I'm not from the States so I don't really have first hand experience with this so much. No doubt there's rap that glorifies excessive partying, violence, crime etc. but not all of it is like that. And some responsibility is for the listeners too, the listener might take the entirely wrong message from the lyrics. Something that is supposed to be picturing a grim reality or a cautionary tale can be perceived as a validation of certain lifestyle and attitudes.

You like funk...cool
You like Jazz..cool
You look Blues...cool
etc..

You think rap is a poison to society and specifically a damaging influences to minorities...RACIST!!!!!

I don't go with the hivemind crap, I will make my own mind up thank you very much, and regarding the cultured comment, I speak four languages and am actually in Europe for my final year of uni....that cultured enough, have you ever traveled beyond your own state borders?

Rap is a huge genre of music with many sub-genres from horror-core to nerd-core

So for someone to go on about rap being some blight on society is dumb as shit. At best, you sound like someone's way out of touch drunk uncle. At worst, you sound brainwashed by fox news.

One of the biggest rappers out now is super christian. He's everywhere. Arguably the biggest rapper out is the opposite of the lame stereotypes the juniors yelling at clouds are throwing around.

So yeah, it's not hard to infer racist intent when your try to stereotype a vast genre of music with many different artists and topics.

"oh my god, they're talking about big butts on the radio" That's how simple y'all sound

And who is this music mostly marketed to?
Young people and people who are disadvataged/poorly educated/lacking role models...i.e. the inner city.

Drop a rap album in suburbia and little Chad might nod his head and sag his pants but he knows its just an act.
Drop that same album in the hood and it becomes almost 'gospel' These kids/people seek a voice. They dont see much of a prosperous future so they latch on to these ideas of "Get money fast, get pussy fast, dont let no man disrespect you!"

Just how the poor and under educated are easy to seduce with radical Islam. Its easy to brain wash people in tough situations.

how can you make your mind up when you don't read black perspectives

you would easily be able to determine what StreetCrap has posted is bullshit had you done your homework

why do you think many black communities are poor and uneducated? do you think that wouldn't be the case in the absence of rap music?

white americans have ravaged african americans for more than a century, then lay the blame of their state on a genre of music that emerged in the 70s

just shut up

I have my own perspective and I will make my own mind up regarding my opinions of others, how can that be a problem?

And which black perspectives should I be reading? Black Americans? Black French who rap, Stromae is amazing by the way, or perhaps Russian or Ukrainian rappers?

Let's try something different. Even if that guy is a racist, let's divorce him from what he says.

Let's try to focus purely on the merits of what someone says and disassociate any suspicions of who is saying it.

Let's let them stay and let's try to inform/influence them of the way we see the world.

That to me would be the most bleeding edge thing you could do in this modern society of shouting at each other and wrapping yourself in your own echo chamber.

Are you that fat youtuber that thinks white supremacy can be brought to the middle?

does it matter? according to your ridiculously simplistic view, they all talk about "guns, gangs, drugs bitches and hoe's over and over", apparently

Well actually yes, in my interactions with Black Frenchmen, (of Gabonese origin) they said the same thing I said, so?

How many opinions do I need to search before i'm allowed to make an assumption?

Ok but here's the thing, even if he were a racist, is racist in his DNA? Is it written on his shoe?

Why would you want to write that person off and BUILD A WALL between you and that person which will undoubtedly further him down that same path when talking to him would be the best way to change his mind? Is he a racist now and forever?

What happened to all that "build bridges, not walls" talk? Let's try to actually walk that walk.

what the hell would a gabonese person know about african american life?

do you think everyone with black skin comes from the same area and lives the same life?

The "opinion" that all rap talks about is guns and sex is wrong, it doesn't matter who says it

if you can't even admit that, you're just trolling

Then listen to the other artists that don't talk about those things. Here is a thought listen to pharrel or childish Gambino.
