Since when did Sony allow refunds cause a game sucks? I know they have allowed pre-order refunds if the release date got pushed, and would refund games that they agreed were broken. But I never heard of them refunding games because the game flat out sucked.

Clearly outlining what will and won't be free beforehand definitely helps make it seem crazy to complain the day of that you thought everything was free. Once you had been made informed that you weren't paying attention and this was always the case you should have been embarrassed or at least had enough humility to admit you were wrong to make the assumptions you did, but on you go.

Even if what that post says was true, I was not eligible because I bought the DLC with the base game. Like a sucker I trusted them to improve on the first game. So call me whatever you want, but hell yeah I am still pissed that they never did anything to really make up for the shit state of year 1. Even now they still rub salt in the wound IMO. I don't care who published the game. They made it, and had a perfect opportunity to show their hollow mea culpa's following launch were genuine instead of marketing pitches for future dlc. But from what I have seen so far, the only thing they have done to show they really care about the people who got burned was to treat them like people who never trusted them to begin with.

More than a large portion. This has been detailed by Bungie a million times already. OP just doesn't like to read.

Free players are getting:

3 campaigns
3 raids
17 strikes
All PvP maps and modes
All of Gambit (hybrid PvE and PvP mode)
All Destinations
A ton of optional gear quests
And a ton more.

But it's ok, some people will always act entitled and will complain regardless.

PSN allows refunds 14 days from the day of purchase, that was clearly what you should have done if it was such a big deal.

You don't seem to understand it so I'm going to spell it out for you: the first year content they're "giving out" is worthless, no matter how much you paid for it.

Bungie knows it: it's been the custom for Bungie to sell for full price current year content, require you to purchase previous year content and bundle for free the older content through various means like having a deluxe edition or complete editions, etc.

So now they're pretending the stuff that has no economic value to them anymore is "f2p" while the content they've always monetised still costs the same. And on top of that they pile a boatload of mtx on the "premium" players while they can attract a bunch of f2p players to extract mtx money from them.

they can now use the f2p label to justify whatever mtx they throw at it and I guarantee you we'll see some of the guys who've paid full price for Shadowkeep make this argument.

And in the meanwhile Destiny 2 continues to be a game designed around engagement and microtransactions.

This relaunch of Destiny 2 is fundamentally a cynical cashgrab and the f2p model is indeed a sham.

There's more content free to everyone in D2 today than there was before today, but you're complaining today about their "greedy" practices, why should anyone take it seriously?

Didn't make up anything, I looked up the refund policy and didn't see when it went into place, my mistake. What personal attacks did I lob? Is it personally attacking you to say most people don't care that you feel ripped off? Because if so LOL.

You came at me kinda over the top when everyone knows the game was shit in year 1, but I don't really care about that at all to be honest. I don't mind getting shit or throwing it back. And I don't really care about the claim I could get refunded now that a minute passed either. At first I was pissed because you made me pissed at myself for not demanding it, and then I realized I was right that I never could get it refunded and still being pissed threw a lob back. I didn't mean to give the impression I felt offended though. Feel free to call me whatever you want.

I thought Warmind was a good step in the right direction, I don't consider Year 1 a total wash but it definitely earned the ire it got. As someone who bought the most expensive edition of everything Destiny since D1 I just don't get the attitude that we've been wronged by it now being free to play. For me the ship has been righted, the game has more to do than it ever has and things keep looking brighter. Bringing in more people only helps the game in my view. Without the help of Activision it's probably tough for Bungie financially right now, though deciding their own destiny (teehee) is liberating and they've spoken about the relief it brings with it they need to prove this can be financially stable. In that sense, there's only so much I can expect them to do for people who bought stuff year 1 and are upset that other people get that stuff free. I honestly didn't know you were unable to get a refund, though, but I also am a PC D2 player and remember people being able to refund Curse of Osiris through Bungie.net. Not being able to refund a digital order on the PS store IS due to PS store policy, though and not Activision or Bungie, hence PC players being able to get the sort of refund you wanted. Reminds me of when Steam users got new Left 4 Dead maps free but Microsoft insisted they retail for a price on XBOX Live, there's only so much that can be done in such situations.
 
Wait. Forsaken isn't free? Isn't that like, outdated content now that the new expansion is out and everything before it is useless?

I get what you're saying except for the notion that they can't really do anything. They could easily do something to show a token appreciation for the people who felt wronged (when they themselves were acknowledging there were issues) and walked away before. They just choose not to, which is entirely their right. It probably won't hurt them at all short term if at all financially, but I won't be crying a single tear if the new players don't bother to stick around and spend money while they are stuck supporting the servers for all these new accounts.

But what the hell, maybe I'll give it a try again and see how everything is these days. And if it seems good there's bound to be a sale sooner than later anyway.

The base game is free, expansions are not free.
Nobody is taking your money for something you will not get.
 
I was shopping in a Woolworths yesterday; stocking up on iced coffee while waiting for Shadowkeep; when I spotted a woman behind a tressle table, sporting a small grill and platter. She didn't say anything to me particularly, but her gestures and the signage made it clear it was some sort of Free-to-Eat sausage she was offering.

I took one of the packets, opened it up and stuck the sausage into my mouth. It was slimy, uncooked and disgusting but I chewed and forced it down because the woman was watching. My teeth were not sharp enough to break through the connected casing; so before I could gag I angled my neck straight so I could feed the string into my gullet. I bent down to see if she was still looking; and I don't quite understand it, but I think she was worried that I couldn't finish. I would have reassured her, but my words came out slurred and sausagey.

I finished; and no one made me pay for the packet, but they made me pay for the rest of my groceries even still; so that was a bit annoying. Anyway, reminded me of what OP is going through.

Ugh. Why did I buy the first two expansions? I never even really started Warmind, and now it's free?

D2 just isn't compelling enough to return to.
 
Content is not outdated. People still play the Year 1 raids from time to time, all PVP modes and maps are available, strikes playlist is available, of which players still engage with them on a weekly basis, gambit is free in its entirety.

As many have said before me, and OP has yet to acknowledge any of it, Bungie has outlined what content is included in New Light. People just want to complain and are lazy to read.

I'd even argue that all content is especially in date now too. Unlike some other games, the items you'll find in Destiny 2 are scaled to the player's gear score. And that score has just today been evened across the board for all players.

A lot of people looking in from the outside haven't realised or understood yet that they removed the traditional leveling system from the game. Even people without expansions can play what was previously called the end-game.
 
I thought it was clear that you would still have to pay for forsaken and shadow keep.

If buying more and more content over the years for this type of game isn't appealing then fine. But they wouldn't be able to sustain themselves otherwise.
 
Judging from how the servers instantly filled up and then crashed, I would say that the vast majority of gamers don't think Destiny 2 F2P is a scam.

I do hope they have a plan in place to release Forsaken as F2P down the road, in maybe 6 months or something. It really only makes sense for the latest expansion to cost money with the model they are following. Keeping F2P two expacs behind doesn't really make it any better than letting them be 1 expac behind, you're either playing the newest content or you're not.

Y'all better play some more f2p games before defending this leeching business practice.

I've seen a few people pissed that they have to pay for the Foreskin expansion.
 
It's just a way to pull new players in more so than it is a scam. People like myself who didn't bother or didn't find an interest in the game on release weren't willing to pay up. Then if we like what we see we pay into the other content packs.
