I only really support Reylo because I felt bad for Ben Solo being a severely damaged punching bag caricature for three movies. If all the actors involved hate that there was one moment for him, well that sucks a lot. It didn't even have to be him and Rey; it could've been him with Han, Luke, and (somehow?) Leia or even Anakin.
I know what certain "fans" have been doing on social media fucking sucks, but that's why I don't have Twitter/Instagram. Correct me if wrong, but I believe forums like here or Reddit would moderate such stupidity with the quickness.

If I were Boyega, I'd be pretty pissed too about what RJ did to his character.
I felt it was a bit salvaged in RoS, since he looked quite competent there. But still, what a waste of a genuinely great idea of a stormtrooper redemption arc.

The guy's probably made enough from these three movies that he'd never have to work again if he wanted to, and can pick and choose whatever smaller roles he likes from now on even if he gets blacklisted by major studios.
Hell, he can just live off conventions now if he lost everything too. His entire financial future is watertight.
Really is just a shame the Disney Trilogy ended up shitting on his character so much though. The whole 'Stormtrooper turned Jedi' concept was the most exciting prospect to me in the build up to TFA and it just ended up as less than nothing.

Writers that mishandle his character and fail to deliver, fans who attack him for not shutting up while doing his job, for daring to have his own idea of what the character that he spent years of his life defining is all about. I guess it all depends on if u see Rey's kiss as a prize or reward. I don't necessarily, IMO this is just standard classic storytelling, a kiss in a fairy tale, but postmodernism has ruined our brains and made us hate the idea of two cishet people having sexual feelings towards one another even if they are in a toxic relationship. Newsflash, reality called, a lot of people IRL are in toxic relationships. It's just art once again imitating life. Some people are frustrated by being unable to control life so they see the Narrative as a substitute.
Finn had a decent intro by JJ. It is a damn shame his heroic move in the first scene of the ST has been undercut so massively by TLJ, and by everyone for the remainder of his screen time, from his "friends" mocking him as a "janitor". But they so good at class politics cos we hate the rich - typical modern mainstream leftist moralism. Ignoring actual plight of workers (Boyega, casino workers, horsey slave kids) in favor of virtue signaling. John really should have been co lead. TLJ should have been him training with Luke too. Why the fuck did he not even get to meet Luke Skywalker? Only Rey did. ROS was better but he could have had more of an arc if they had more time and JJ hadn't been forced into setting up the stakes, doing Rian's job that he ignored while shitting on Finn's character. Yeah I always thought Finn was a way more interesting character than the other new protagonists, which is why it sucks that he was relegated to a stupid romance B-plot that goes nowhere in TLJ with the worst character in the trilogy. He at least could've had a pretty cool sacrifice scene at the end but instead his story ends him being """saved""" by being crashed into at full speed, which is followed by Rose saying what I consider to be the worst line in the entirety of Star Wars. From what I can tell about Rise of Skywalker (haven't wathced it but have read summaries) it doesn't seem like he has much importance there either.
I think it would've been better for him to be a jedi. From the prequels to now, the only people who have ever been shown to use force powers are the jedi order, the sith order, and descendants of both. Your ability to save the world has been restricted solely to your lineage. You're not born from jedi? The you can never reach their level of importance. You are forced to be a side character in their journey.
Which is why I got the slightest hint of optimism in TLJ when Kylo tells Rey "your parents were nothing, you come from nothing, you are nothing", because that's way more interesting than "chosen one" shit. Somebody who comes from nothing and becomes a hero not because of their bloodline or their upbringing, but becuae eof their actions. Who they CHOOSE to be.
But nope. Rey's descended from the strongest force user in the galaxy. Her journey, from being sent to the desert planet to finding the lightsaber to finding Luke to fighting Palpatine, was all set into motion by where she comes from. Nothing more.
But imagine a random former stormtrooper, someone who actually came from nothing who chose to risk his life so he could get away from his evil upbringing, going through a spiritual journey that awakens him to the force (the force is within everyone and everything, after all) which then allows him to use the power of the force to help others. He would be the embodiment of what the Jedi wished to be, without being held back by the bureaucracy and tradition of the past Jedi order.
He would truly be forging a new path for the jedi, something that movies say Rey does, but is something that she never actually does. She gets trained by Luke, who was in turn trained by Obi-Wan and Yoda, two of the people were a part of the bureaucracy whose incompetence caused the death of the Jedi. She follows the old faulty ways.
This hypothetical Finn-centric story would even have a progressive-friendly message, in saying that your lack of privilege doesn't truly stop you from doing great things, and certainly doesn't stop you from doing good deeds. Although, that message may conflict with the eternal victim-complex of the modern left.
Whatever. At least Finn was a good character in TFA. That's more than Phasma got.

Finn could have actually left to help Rey, maybe with Rose, and together they have an adventure. what if all three started realizing they had force powers? no, Rian isolated Rey and had her do the Chosen One thing anyways then made it a big deal about how it wasn't a big deal. he lied. there is no optimistic new theme that develops into anything, he is merely rehashing some old themes that were done far more subtler in earlier films. plus it is just a twist on the "shocking revelation" trope. he is doing a ESB scene in ROTJ, that is all. more hack storytelling made new thru lampshading. ultimately it says nothing new.

Oh it absolutely made little sense in the greater context of the film/trilogy. It simply made me think of how much better of a story arc it could be before I was brought back to reality by things like Rey being super powerful in the force after like a couple days.

There was so much potential there for Finn -- force sensitivity, lingering ties with the First Order, seeing the world from a new perspective after a lifetime of brainwashing, and his burgeoning heroism to go save Rey (his first real connection in his new life).

They could have a friendly rivalry about who can use the Force better. Or maybe they have a philosophical conflict about which direction the Jedi Order should go in which leads to drama and further character development. Or they could be the example of the New Jedi Order in the sense that they could both, as practicing Jedi, fall in love with each other and still be competent Light Side users, rejecting the stoic, monk-like dogma of the old Jedi.
They could have done a lot of more interesting things than the crap we got.
