Ok then.... What would I need to make an equivalent machine?Nobody works in TF for PC gaming. It's the dumbest metric going.
We don't know the price, full specs, or real world performance of these upcoming consoles, nor do we know exactly what PC parts will be available by the end of 2020, their exact performance, or their prices.Ok then.... What would I need to make an equivalent machine?
Could we not take some fairly well educated guesses? The prices and trends some fairly predictable at least to me, a layman. We don't know the price, specific specs, or real world performance of these up coming consoles, nor do we know exactly what PC parts will be available by the end of 2020, their exact performance, or their prices.
there's also denuvo screwing with performance.*If you're illiterate with computers and how they work, have fun when something breaks. Windows 10 is almost drool mode easy compared to previous Windows, but there are still things that can hang up the average user. Especially if a game is crashing and no one else is having that same issue. On a console, it's pretty rare you're going to run into issues like that.
By the time these new consoles come out, current Nvidia/AMD cards and AMD CPUs wouldn't even be in a comparison discussion, which make up the bulk of performance and price. And again, we don't even know the full specs or price of these upcoming consoles yet.Could we not take some fairly well educated guesses? 8 core processor with 16 gigs of RAM. A 1tb SSD and then some kind of video card? Maybe something like 2060 or 2070? Probably a 500 watt powersupply (is that enough? No idea), some cheap micro ATX board? And we will ignore the case cause most people probably have one.
Would this be at least a reasonable guess? We can't be exact of course, just a guess.
Why do you console guys get so emotional over pc players? Is it jealousy? Let me guess, you Love/Hate Sony, and then do the opposite to Microsoft. You must be a fanboy of a company, and not a gamer.Ok...
No thanks.
Have a nice day with your overpriced glitchy box.

And with games programmed with a standardized SSD drive for fast load times.
Go!
This whole post is an assumption on top of an assumption. Which is exactly my point.Literally dancing around a basic question.
Assuming a PS5 for example is running a 2060 for this comparison:
CASE: 30
OS: 80
GPU: 250
CPU: 150
MOBO: 50 (being super generous here)
PSU: 40
RAM: 30
Total: More than 600 even with more generous numbers. Take a super cheap CPU and it would still be over 500.
This is being super generous and would net you worse performance than a closed box. This also doesn't include buying a gamepad.
EDIT: Totally forgot about a SSD so that would add even more cost.
This whole post is an assumption on top of an assumption. Which is exactly my point.
You probably won't be able to build a roughly equivalent PC for the same price is all that can really be said at this point, for obvious reasons.
Can you expound on that assumption? I don't have any issues, and don't see why it's not as convenient than a console? I mean, are you typing this from your console with a controller? Or did you have to pull out a secondary device to respond on NeoGAF? I can game and a million and one other things on my pc, including responding on a forum. Pretty convenient in my eyes.No. PC gaming is not worth the trouble for me. Anyone who says that is even close to the same convenience of a console is speaking from ignorance or straight out lying to themselves.
So let's use last gen for example. For the hardcore gamer, let's say they bought Xbox one, Xbox one s, and Xbox one x. Did you know that, plus Xbox live for the past 6 years, is much more expensive than a high end desktop? Even removing the Xbox one s from the equation, yields a minimum of 1$300 dollars just for the 2 consoles and xbl, with no games. Even just having a an Xbox one and xbl for 3 years, is more expensive than building a pc that will perform better than the best gen Xbox Sex or ps5.That's all he was asking asking for. A rough guess on the cost. The main thing to take away is that building a PC with even remotely similar performance will be more expensive.
You're like that guy saying why do you guys get so emotional about Mercedes owners, your just a fanboy of your Toyota, you're not a real driver. But what you fail to see is that all Mercedes drivers are fuckin douchebags! LOLWhy do you console guys get so emotional over pc players? Is it jealousy? Let me guess, you Love/Hate Sony, and then do the opposite to Microsoft. You must be a fanboy of a company, and not a gamer.
Too bad I'm the guy who would rather have a Honda or Toyota over a Mercedes. Where else am I gonna for these bad boys?!You're like that guy saying why do you guys get so emotional about Mercedes owners, your just a fanboy of your Toyota, you're not a real driver. Oh you're that guy, I was young once too. That would be a sweet setup but I'm not in my 20's anymore.Too bad I'm the guy who would rather have a Honda or Toyota over a Mercedes. Where else am I gonna for these bad boys?!

Average car audio enthusiast age is: late 30s, early 40's believe it or not. What kids have that kinda money to blow in their 20's, and if they did, they definitely aren't throwing it into a trunk or wall of a car, but other shit that kids do. But this is off topic.Oh you're that guy, I was young once too. That would be a sweet setup but I'm not in my 20's anymore.
In my country, it's something that teens do in their first few years of getting their license and usually anyone under 30 unless you have them there for show or competition.Average car audio enthusiast age is: late 30s, early 40's believe it or not. That's pretty dope. I did competition from time to time, but honestly, my build was just for my enjoyment. Had 6 8's, 2 super tweets, 2 18's on about 12k watts. 6 batts in the rear. Stupid windy. Now I'm going for an sq build. In my country, it's something that teens do in their first few years of getting their license and usually anyone under 30 unless you have them there for show or competition.
It's affordable here and one of the first things young teens do with their cars.
LOL that sounds ridiculously insane. That's pretty dope. I did competition from time to time, but honestly, my build was just for my enjoyment. Had 6 8's, 2 super tweets, 2 18's on about 12k watts. 6 batts in the rear. Stupid windy. Now I'm going for an sq build.
The best part about it is when we go in for yearly hearing test at work, and everyone shits themselves when they find out I have better hearing than ppl 10 years younger than me. And i been doing this for over 10 years, everyday.LOL that sounds ridiculously insane.
Yeah I miss those days of having a bees knees sound system in my car. But I commute to work on my motorcycle during the week and barely use my car on weekends so its a waste for me.
I own an xbox one X, a PS4 pro and a switch and a lot of older systems so I guess I must a console fanboy. Why do you console guys get so emotional over pc players? Is it jealousy? I mean, when you refer to the most powerful piece of hardware, as a glitchy box... Who will honestly take you serious? If you approached it in a different manner, maybe you wouldn't be a console fanboy? I love games, but i do prefer my games to play closer to the exposure of my eyes, than a laggy, jank fest like on consoles.I own an xbox one X, a PS4 pro and a switch and a lot of older systems so I guess I must a console fanboy.

Are you actually being serious? An rtx 2080 will cost more than a console. You really don't think that, seriously.....do you? Why would pc owners have to upgrade? I'll still be using my same pc, from the last few years, and for the next few years. And what makes you think you'll get a $1000 plus, console for half price? Have you seen the price of just the cpu and gpu that you mentioned? Will Sony and Microsoft eat half of the price for a console?! Not to mention, you didn't take into account of the power supply, ram, audio interface, controller, memory controller, case, fans, etc? I need to save your quote for when the next gen consoles release. The reason why I care about the consoles' power and performance is because consoles are the things that set a generational baseline for developers to build their games on and this is VERY VERY IMPORTANT, so many people do not know about this at all.
I have a gaming PC and I'm planning on upgrading mine some time later or maybe soon, I play on PlayStation and PC, but to see consoles releasing this year with their specs is soooo exciting.
From 1.8 - 1.3 GCN TFlops, 8 cores Jaguar CPU at 1.6 GHz, 8 GB & HDD.
To 12 TF RDNA (or around it), 8 cores and 16 threads desktop class CPU clocked at 3.2 GHz (or around it), Super fast NVMe SSDs (possibly the fastest ever) and 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM with Hardware RT is very exciting.
I just can't wait to see what EA/Ubisoft/Activision with their new Call of Duty engine and ESPECIALLY Sony's 1st party studios and Rockstar Games will do, it will be magical, games will be HUGE and will play and feel next-gen.
And I have to say, PC players must upgrade their PCs because games will be built on these next-gen consoles, so they have to upgrade their PCs fast this time, because from what we have seen from many reports and rumors, consoles will have GPUs that are more pow erful than RTX 2080.
And what we have confirmed now is their NVMe SSDs, 16 GB of GDDR6, Hardware Ray Tracing and 8 cores 16 threads equivalent to AMD's Ryzen 3700 CPU.
That's a lot, that would be a very pricey PC much higher than a console at $500, but we'll see, those specs I have mentioned will get cheaper as time goes by of course. Super interesting times ahead.
Oh man, please save my quote, you'll end up looking foolish. Are you actually being serious? An rtx 2080 will cost more than a console. You really don't think that, seriously.....do you? Will love to shove this in your face when it releases. Then basic economics will make sense for you. That's not gonna happen. Nvidia would be sued, just like in every gen that was claimed that consoles would have an upper edge. Get ready to be embarrassedOh man, please save my quote, you'll end up looking foolish. Many reports and rumors are stating 12 TF RDNA.
Comparing PC parts to consoles is really misleading, even Digital Foundry is saying it, those GPUs will be much cheaper when the consoles release, those 12 TF RDNA inside Xbox Series X are more powerful than an RTX 2080, not the 2080 Ti, the 2080 is a $600 GPU now, it will be cheaper when XSX releases, and keep in mind, Nvidia is really HEAVILY overpricing their GPUs.
But haven't you heard - The ps5 will use a futuristic solid state drive, reverse engineered from alien tech recovered from atlantis? It will make games load before you even power on the console

I'm willing to put 1k usd on the line, right now. I'll not only pay you 1k, but I'll buy you an Xbox series x or ps5, your choice, if you're willing to bet. I'll send you my PayPal and details if you are up for it. I want this to be on record. I'd put the top spec'd console between a gtx 1660 and 2060(at absolute BEST). Let see if you can put your money where your mouth runsOK. You'll see.
PayPal money? Calm down man, It's not that serious ((LMAO at GTX 1660)).......I live in another country, PayPal isn't supported there, you're so angry and worked up over plastic and transistors, It's OK man, It's OK.I'm willing to put 1k usd on the line, right now.
