So? Does it have to be?Not really a feature specific to Sony or Microsoft
The PS5's SSD is considerably more optimized and faster, so I can see PlayStation's First Party Studios experiencing less crunch compared to other studios. Not really a feature specific to Sony or Microsoft

Only if devs spend that crunch time deciding how they want to optimize the data, so you could argue it might take MORE crunch timeThe PS5's SSD is considerably more optimized and faster, so I can see PlayStation's First Party Studios experiencing less crunch compared to other studios.
But Xbox Devs tweets are okay, right? Can we please stop making threads based in current/former Sony First Party Devs Tweets? Thank you.
What's this WorldStar HipHop trash doing here on a Gaming Forum?
You clearly have not seen, read, or payed attention as to why developers are praising the SSD on the PlayStation 5.Only if devs spend that crunch time deciding how they want to optimize the data, so you could argue it might take MORE crunch time
The only developers anyone has seen praising the SSD to evangelical levels or even beyond Microsoft's implementation are directly connected to Sony in some capacity or another. You clearly have not seen, read, or payed attention as to why developers are praising the SSD on the PlayStation 5.
What you're mentioning may exist in other SSD's and studios with just the Xbox SSD, but the PS5 SSD is literally optimized so well that devs don't need to do anything basically, except port their data into the SSD, according to the Cerny GDC panel.
Can we please stop making threads based in current/former Sony First Party Devs Tweets? Thank you.
So you're suggesting as long as a dev has worked for a Sony 1st party that they should be excluded from having threads made?
Insomniac made an Xbox-exclusive game you know. And Codemasters aren't 1st party either.
Anyway, silly comment is silly.
And you clearly know nothing about software development. You clearly have not seen, read, or payed attention as to why developers are praising the SSD on the PlayStation 5.
Sure, let's dismiss the COUNTLESS of non-platform based journalists and articles praising the PS5 SSD, includingThe only developers anyone has seen praising the SSD to evangelical levels or even beyond Microsoft's implementation are directly connected to Sony in some capacity or another.
True that. Guess it's silly season. No more sillier than you and others implying in your post or making these threads about the SSD somehow making up for everything else to match up with the XSX. Just saying

NEWS: DEVELOPER NEEDS TO THINK AND PLAN BEFORE IMPLEMENTATION. More at 11.And you clearly know nothing about software development.
If the SSD supports 4+ transfer modes the developers are going to spend time decided what part of their game needs to be exercised by what transfer mode.
That isn't free time and needs to thought out and researched
Another thing not at all being considered by people is that the Xbox has 10 GB's of memory with 112 GB/s more bandwidth which to a degree can be used as cache for loading in conjunction with the SSD.And you clearly know nothing about software development.

None of which are developers, and neither of which are developers and are merely armchair Youtube pundits.Sure, let's dismiss the COUNTLESS of non-platform based journalists and articles praising the PS5 SSD, includingNXGamer and Digital Foundry.
That sounds like a headache to try and reach PlayStation 5's super smooth SSD/RAM combo with these loopholes and technical 'reach-arounds'.Another thing not at all being considered by people is that the Xbox has 10 GB's of memory with 112 GB/s more bandwidth which to a degree can be used as cache for loading in conjunction with the SSD.

I suffered though it in its entirety, which is how I know they added more transfer modes than your typical m2 controllerDid you watch the Cerny Panel?
What a shame.Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Are you referring to the priority levels, of which PS5 has 6 and XSX only has 2?I suffered though it in its entirety, which is how I know they added more transfer modes than your typical m2 controller![]()

You're not helping your case.
Who cares about COVID-19, we're all fucked anyway with all dem blu-rays.It won’t.
But I also hear it helps reduce the cases of COVID.
The lack of actual thinking from some of you guys is disturbing.but sony tells me the game worlds will be bigger/richer/livelier
means bigger open world not more work to fill it up?
or can this magical ssd from sony programs games?
Yes exactly my point, if Mr silly wants to use that as some reason why there will be less crunch time then I'm arguing that devs will have to spend time dictating priority modes, it's unlikely the OS is going to magically know what part of the game needs access faster than othersAre you referring to the priority levels, of which PS5 has 6 and XSX only has 2?
I don't claim to be or try to elevate myself beyond more than that while others do.Says the biggest armchair faux systems technician on NeoGAF who thinks he knows better than Sir Mark Cerny.
You don't need to claim when your threads and posts already do that for you.I don't claim to be or try to elevate myself beyond more than that while others do.

You clearly didn't read or even try to understand the unique features of the PS5's SSD when it comes to a developer's point of view.Yes exactly my point, if Mr silly wants to use that as some reason why there will be less crunch time then I'm arguing that devs will have to spend time dictating priority modes, it's unlikely the OS is going to magically know what part of the game needs access faster than others
I'm sorry, who are you again? I've literally never seen you post here before, but it seems you exist and understand GAF better than the mods themselves. It has become annoying. Never take a joke too far. We are gamers in a gamers forum, not comedians.
Well there's a lot of comedy taking place around here but it seems select individuals don't understand that they're the butt of the joke.It has become annoying. Never take a joke too far. We are gamers in a gamers forum, not comedians.

This makes no sense to me! Development Time will drastically increase for PS5 and XBox Series X.
Because games are getting bigger, and wider, and everything, and more complex to develop.
Sure maybe there are a few things where a SSD save some time while coding, but other things will drastically increase which will lead to even longer development times.
And NO PlayStation Fans, not the fastest SSD in the Universe will be able to create 3D Models, Textures and AI's to relive development teams![]()
Except that said bandwidth is going to be easily eaten by the GPU rendering at higher resolution.....Another thing not at all being considered by people is that the Xbox has 10 GB's of memory with 112 GB/s more bandwidth which to a degree can be used as cache for loading in conjunction with the SSD.
THANK YOU.But it makes sense for someone that actually developed a lot of games for Insomniac and Naughty Dog, so its probably true.
