A 90s rated game? Probably. One of the best games of the generation? If the leaks I've seen are accurate, I don't think so. I'm sure there are going to people who love the direction the story takes, but it almost seems designed to be divisive. I have no doubt the game will sell well, but I honestly think it's going to hurt TLoU as a brand in the long run. Honestly, I hope I'm wrong though.

Believe me , entertainment industry is doing just fine. There is more content being sold and created than anytime time and it keeps going up. You can find whatever you want to watch or play. Its not that serious. Your making up situations that do not exist ,won't exist as long as some one can make dollar from it. The reason why companies cater to these demographics is because it sells more to a wider audience. IT MMMMMAKES MONEY. Who knew that black people might see your movie if if you have a black person in it, and that goes for any demo. Your views are very small compared to lets say Black Panthers 1.4 billion box office. I'll take the 1.4 billion.

If the situation for YOU is that bad GO MAKE YOUR OWN GAME/MOVIE

Every industry has its lobbyist and lawyers ready to take action when necessary. In retrospect, this IP is worth a lot of money, and it's part of their existence as entertainers.

I can't imagine everyone at Naughty Dog acting like "oh gosh, our game got leaked. That sucks.. " and move on with their day.

If anything, this should be a huge red flag for the industry. We should see Industry website articles about how this happened. If there's anything that's going to prevent this in the future. What does it actually mean. We can go and on about the rhetoric and the so-called "Chad" employee who may or may not exist. What I'm not seeing is a why and how this happened. If I was a stock holder or the CEO of the company, there would have been an emergency Zoom meeting to discuss what the hell happened.

Veteran Game Designers aren't exactly living in poverty. A lot of them can retire if they release a handful of critically acclaimed AAA titles. I have to imagine someone is investigating this or it's just something we can look back on say "hey, remember when The Last of Us 2 was leaked". Yeah, lol.

Yeah, you know what, I'm becoming increasingly uncomfortable with game leaks. Political, sneaky business leaks, hell yes. But game leaks? I imagine this is about the closest game developers could get to a direct source of heartbreak within their profession~
 
Look at that, all it took was a ginormous leak to get Sony to release the game.

I get the frustration from contractors not getting paid and from fans not playing it.

It should have never come to this.
 
I feel bad for Naughty Dog devs. Everyone of have their put their heart, soul and emotional touch to what's possibly the most anticipated sequel to the most critically acclaimed original new ip. And you've this pathetic scumbag going out leaking the game. Just terrible situation, hope I don't stumble across spoilers ever for Last of Us Part II or any game for that matter.

Many "big" game directors would prefer to make movies and TV shows but couldn't hack it in that industry.
Video games pay the rent but it isn't their #1 passion (just look at Kojima).
The video game journos dreamed of writing about music, politics and film but ended up with Kotaku/Polygon.
Their passion is still alive tho, so they obviously give grat reviews to games that are like movies.

That's how we ended up in a world were "good writing", "compelling dialogue" and "emotional moments" are overrated as fuck in games.
Problem is: I don't need videogames for that stuff, I go to the movies and watch TV dramas to get my fill.
Seems so weird to me that people were willing to pay 60€ and slog through a 20+ hour video game.... but now don't want to anymore because they know that [X does someting to Z, and Y is in love with W] or some shit.

IMO a great singleplayer game isn't spoilable. If graphics, gameplay and sound are on point.... I really don't give a fuck what happened in the end.
Never understood the drama about Mass Effect 3 ending. It's about the journey or rather the fun you have while playing the game, not the final 10 min cutscene.

But that's just it, by giving the company 60 dollars you're sending them a message that you're okay with that they've done. Sony doesn't offer refund policy and they don't have Game Pass. Obviously not everyone plans to read TLoU2 spoilers, but you can get the general feeling about how people are furious with the plot and the sjw agenda in the game.

For me personally it's a pass based on the previous reveals and most of all based on these new spoilers I read voluntarily. And I loved the first game.

I haven't read or seen the spoilers but from what I understand they're pushing the woke agenda hard. I'll probably just wait for Ghost Of Tsushima and maybe pick up TLOU2 in the bargain bin down the road at some point if the gameplay is good.
 
The only people celebrating this are the ones who were never gonna play it.

As for the leaker, I doubt he/she comprehends how much damage they have done to their career.

No one in the gaming industry with the right mind will ever employ him/her in the industry ever.

Leaks are utter shit and disappointing if you don't like getting spoilers (I'm a massive spoilerphobe). No doubt about it. And it must be damn annoying and disappointing for the devs and big fans of the game.

But that wording in the tweet is so cringe. "The last few days have been Incredibly difficult for you'. What? It's a fucking game. There's more going on in the world that's incredibly difficult.

I liked the first game, but was not a super fan, hopefully by then I would have forgotten all the leaks that I sort of absorbed. :)

Spring 2020 will always be rememberd as "Day Zero of the TLOU2 leaks".

That said, you are well within your rights not to be spoiled and some people are assholes about that stuff, like drop untagged spoilers in random threads. But it isn't really difficult to avoid being spoiled.

I really wouldn't read or post in any TLOU threads for the time being and steer clear of YouTube.

Glad others are saying it too. It's a game at the end of the day. Yeah, it sucks if people get spoiled and they don't want to, but equally it's a piece of entertainment. What is the takeaway here - a significant moment in a videogame might not be a surprise or be as impactful. You'll get over it.

I can understand the devs might be a bit more pissed because they probably wanted to see the reactions happen in real time. Now it will be a bit diffused as people have had their 'moments'.

You gave 3 examples of films that didn't do well out the thousands of productions from film, broadcast tv, games, streaming services that are made each year. Doesn't mater what the the director of terminator said. What matters is if the movie is good. The 3 movies you mentioned were universally panned. You know nothing on this subject.

With that being said spoilers or not Im ready for this TLOU2 journey. Its going to be epic.

That's an interesting take, when by and large woke movies and TV shows have been failing in ratings and at the box office. Batwoman, Ghostbusters, Terminator Dark Fate, Harley Quinn and many more. Black Panther and Captain Marvel did great because they are ok MCU movies at a time when they were building up to Thanos, everything and anything in cinemas would have done well.

I don't understand from where this viewpoint that people are just the color of the skin and will like whatever has someone from their color team in it. Am I so mindless that I see a Latino actor and money just floats out of my pocket?

Saw some of the leaks. This looks like a toned-down mix of Div2 and TR with a skinny lesbian girl and a buff trans woman. Not really my cup of tea, but to each their own. Maybe it's more about the story, but even that seemed contrived. Oh well, some people think Cyberpunk looks shit, and that's my most anticipated game, so people should just enjoy what they like. That's the bottom line.
 
Its real shady the way so many of these unsubstantiated stories serve to make ND and its staff-members DESERVING of the leaks and any losses that may be incurred as a result of them.

The only people getting anything out of this are knuckleheads with axes to grind or IdPol points to score.

No, I'm talking about the usual suspects that have to chime in in every ND thread regardless of title, not TLOU specifically. It's the same people who hate ND gameplay that just have to chime in every time. We get it, you think ND gameplay sucks, or that story-driven games are boring. We really don't need to hear about such opinions it in every ND related thread.

I haven't seen the leaks and have no idea if the story is SJW/woke pandering. If the rumor regarding it's about a Christian cult hating gay people is true, I would not consider unreasonable woke pandering, as such people actually exist, but it does seem unecessary to frame the story around that in a post-apocalypic world.
