No more Nintendo nostalgia

I made a post about a week ago about selling my switch and being kinda sad about it citing a possible change in taste. Given a week to digest the decision the sentimentality is fading and the real emotion is peeking through lol. A person on here just made a post about how bad they wanted a New super mario wii u port for the switch and it aggravated me enough to say this : Oh wow another mario game. Fuck nintendo. Make a fucking star fox or earthbound or a fucking 2d metroid or 3d donkey kong or ouu idk crazy idea maybe a new fucking ip that isnt geared toward casuals?! Maybe an open world mmo pokemon game ?! Tone deaf company that all you bad taste having fanboys always reward for doing the same shit consistently and try to perpetuate the narrative that theyre the most innovative. Ouu theyre so innovative they made wii sports and wii fit for peoples moms and their mom's moms and it hit the mass market appeal bro how cool is that ? Quality of life bro. Oh im so hyped for nintendos finger sensor too bad they scrapped it. Fuck the new nintendo. Blue ocean freaks. Shameless money grubbing lazy incompetents. Fire emblem is the only franchise they have worth playing nowadays. Oh nintendo please give us a nice shiny new port of a fucking wii u game that ive already played. God im sick of you current nintendo people. The real nintendo fans are pissed! Pathetic nintendo slaves ! So hey hows everyones day going ? 😄. This is how i really feel and it was nice to express it. Thanks gaf 🥰

I think their release schedule and constant droughts is pathetic, but sorry, I don't agree with the overall sentiment. Give me Mario until the end of time.

I only play competitive shooters these days for the most part. I need my Mario to provide my palette some balance.

I wish they would improve the UI and feature set for Switch.

As for software , Many probably won't agree but I feel they were at their best with SNES, their in house stuff mixed with some cracking third party exclusives with no droughts or momentum loss in terms of releases. Fantastic system was the SNES.

Your taste have changed, so move on. Game's gonna sell whether you like it or not.

I scored my Switch "free" in the Great GAF GameStop Flip-a-thon a few years back, otherwise I probably would have sold it early in quarantine when people were paying absurd prices for 2nd hand units. I've only bought 3-4 games since the end of 2017, and haven't really touched at all since Fire Emblem last year. As it's stands I'm only holding on to it for BoTW2, MP4/Trilogy, SMTV, Bayo 3, and the hope of a XCX port. Knowing Nintendo some of those will probably end up being cross gen with their next things.

Droughts were expected since I'm not the biggest Nintendo guy to begin with, holy shit.

I actually love mario even though it may seem otherwise lol. The point im trying to make is give me other stuff too. 12 marios for a console generation is enough 😂 Stop jamming the same shit down my throat and think im gonna keep accepting it. This company gets a pass because their fans see them through rose colored glasses and beer goggles and im sick of it. I love mario and zelda and most of their regular franchises and its amazing how theyve made me resentful of them because they refuse to dig into their deep catalogue of ip or make new ip. Im pretty much on the same page as you. I regularly frequent competitive shooters and im sad nintendo has been delegated to a pallet(i know i gotta be spelling that wrong)cleanser. Company used to try and be diverse.l with their catalogue. Theyve accepted that theyre a mario and zelda machine at this point with few exceptions. Sad.

In the NES and Snes time Nintendo's games were at the bleeding edge in terms not only of gameplay, but technical achievement, graphics and sound.

They got a little behind in the N64 because of the cartridges (no voices in games like Zelda, simpler and shorter in engine cinematics, no orchestral score), and the from the Wii to the Switch they remain a generation behind in power.

It sounds like Ninty just isn't your taste anymore

Ninty was never about the hard core competitive player; that was always an after thought for them

They're a family toy company. I'm surprised they're even letting ecchi games on their platform

Color me surprised you'll mention competitive shooters, which games like CoD falls in, and not complain they're just selling you a slightly tweaked engine and doing asset flips

I still have a super famicom, a game boy pocket, a gba sp, a new3dsxl , a Wii, a WiiU.

WiiU is for me the final Nintendo hardware, a great way to play their 2d games (i hate their 3d games). I'm gonna sell my N3ds, Wii and GBP. I'm done for years now with them.

I sold my gaming PC, my PS4 Pro and am absolutely happy with the Switch.
A lot of my "Nintendo is casual stuff" friends bought a switch since they can play untypical Nintendo stuff portably. It's actually the other way around, Nintendo gives space for Indies and 3rd parties to thrive.

So having the second thread from you, what is your point?

We can talk about Nintendo always making the same game again when people stop buying GTAV rereleases and Assassin's Creed / COD / Halo / Naughy Dog third-person shooter #56, thank you very much.

New IP from Nintendo? People don't buy it. At best it's a hidden gem that gets rediscovered long past the time when it would matter for sales.

New Star Fox? Metroid? Paper Mario? Nah, it blows because it's not the same as another game from the early 2000s that wasn't really that great (OK, not Metroid, but SF Adventures sucks donkey ass, deal with it). Oh, it's a good game you say? Eh, too bad it runs on shitty hardware and then it's gonna be $60 forever so no buy.

Sports/party/Kirby game at budget price? Not a "real" game / doesn't count for reasons.

Games with an accessory like Ring Fit Adventures? Everyone who's tried it raves about it but nah, not a real game as well.

But then hey, Mario Galaxy/Mario 64 HD remaster that I can emulate better than Nintendo's hardware ever could? At full price or near it? Take all my money, Nintendo! And wait, what does it mean that I can't rebuy and replay the same game I've been rebuying and replaying since the NES era on Switch? You don't want my money? What are you Nintendo, idiots?

I've heard it all through the years, and I've come to a simple principle that's very rarely proven wrong: if enough people say they want something from Nintendo, it's not really what they want.

OH FUCK, you're that dude? Why did I open this thread man? I managed to escape that other one, you should have put a disclaimer on the title.

Your thread sucks ass man. "Shameless money grubbing lazy incompetents"? Please close it as soon as humanly possible.

You misunderstood. I dont want nintendo to get into that space and try to make competitive shooters. I want them to be more diverse with their catalogue in terms of what they do. Dip into their deep catalogue and revisit a star fox. Make a new side scroller metroid. A new 3d open ended donkey kong. Earthbound. Make a new rpg ip. Do something other than jamming a dozen different versions of mario down our throat. Which is fine as long as other things exist. Make some new characters. New worlds. Take a risk. And competitive shooters are what they are and there are several dozen to choose from that are unique in their own right but its besides the point.

Okay?

I still loving my Switch. I personally not in to PC/Xbox gaming but I don't think I ever felt need to make entire thread about it.

How many copies of Astral Chain did you buy OP? Or Daemon Ex Machina?

Every generation people like you complain about Nintendo and new ips, and every time you are proven to be liars.

If you don't like Nintendo anymore, that's fine. Move on
