Sekiro will run at 60fps on PS5 via a Patch Update

He knows very well Gears 5 at 120 FPS is a native XSX game. Halo MCC is probably too or it will get a patch, they're 360 games anyway.

Also it seems this thread is based on a bunch of nothing - according to the guy that made the tweets, lance, the info is not correct. The users that have been speculating PS5 needing patches to have boost mode look real silly now.

From what I've understood patches are not needed for boost mode unless the game doesn't work with boost mode for some reason. All the testing was done to see which ones worked with boost and which ones didn't. The ones that don't will run in PS4/PS4 Pro profile models until they get a patch to work with boost or with PS5 upgrades.

It's cycle accurate emulation, meaning it fully simulates the hardware, including its limitations.

Imagine someone with a spanking new GTX 3080 learning that his old games will have to run with the limitations of his old GPU from 2016 :pie_lcry:

I may not speak for everyone, but a HUGE part of the BC incentive is getting to play old games with improvements, at least for anyone who already owns a PS4, why would I even bother switching inputs? :pie_fwt:
I'm glad they're taking the time and spending the money to create a patch this time, but I fear this won't be the norm.

this is really bad news for Backcompat performance gains tho.

the game already reaches 1800p60 on Series X without the need for a patch.
so does this mean that without a patch it wouldn't get up to 60fps? do games need patches to support boost mode?

That's your problem and the people like you problem. You can't sit down for 45 minutes to listen to something you care about if there aren't explosions or boobs everywhere.
Lol I could if I wanted to but I didn't. Why would I want to sit through something that was boring me to tears if I didn't have to? If I couldn't sit through boring lectures I wouldn't have a degree and a diploma.

It's just surprising that a GAF poster with a DS5 controller as his avi, thought that specific talk bored him to tears. That's honestly shocking to me. But at least you're honest.

Without the patches, the games are locked at 30 right? I think all these patches are just adding an unlocked mode or more accurately increasing the lock to 60fps.

Sekiro was good, but Bloodborne is much better. Focus on THAT (and Bloodborne 2).
Strong disagree. Bloodborne is too easy man. The level of challenge in Sekiro is perfect and extremely rewarding/satisfying. Give me Bloodborne 2 tho!

I don't understand why this needs a patch. There is a boost mode for BC, isn't there? It's very confusing.

I'd understand it if the original game was capped at 30, but from my understanding it isn't?

From my understanding, if its framerate is unlocked and res is dynamic. We don't need a patch, it would just run at its best. Otherwise a patch would be required to unlock it.

Nothing false about it, the patch Sekiro just recieved will enable 60fps on PS5, along with the ability to replay bosses you have defeated via activity cards. Without the patch it would have just ran the same as the PS4 pro. Someone just jumped the gun.

So then I still don't get it. Again, doesn't the PS5 have a boost mode for PS4 games like Pro does for unpatched base PS4 games?

Boost mode exists, but appears disabled by default, it is unknown whether there will be a setting for users to enable it, but so far it appears not at launch.

Was Lance McDonald

He said Sekiro will need a patch to run at mostly 60fps on PS5, while it does this without a patch on XsX
Doesn't really make sense that it would need a patch since it is unlocked. I would think just turning on boost mode like PS4 Pro would do the trick, unless they wanna lock it at 60. I don't see why it couldn't go above 60 on PS5.

They dont have to talk about consoles, just reveal all the PC specs and details, we have enough information already to compare.

And NDA will drop soon after I suspect, followed by RDNA2 white paper. I will not post my speculation, its close enough anyway. I have listed some things in the speculation thread, where it should be discussed.
Thanks for the heads up Geodie, you were right it certainly was worth waiting for :messenger_tears_of_joy:
