I've never seen a game this sharp, clean, with mindblowing RT implementation and graphics!

Source:

Those shots are unreal. Does this also show the lighting RT features? Seems like some of those have some direct lighting that looks like its done with RT, but I'm not really that knowledgable about RT features. Seemed like they were saying its just for shadows and reflections and not lighting?

I can't tell, really. But lighting seems pretty organic to me whether it's HW-based or Software-based.

Thats insane! So does that mean we can confirm that there is at least some minor use of RT for lighting and not just reflections/shadows?

Can't believe the quality of the textures.

who said Dirt 5 uses VRS? are you comparing youtube videos again to check clarity/resolution?, have you not learnt your lesson

What the fuck are you saying there? You may go and fight that twitter poster. And yes, the NeoGAF staff asked me to repost that thread in case you were wondering, that's the lesson I've learned, then greenlit the thread by them before posting it again. So STFU and move your ass away.

Yes, it proves that polygons are smaller than pixels here, something like UE5 but for models instead of just assets. And it's Sony Atom View tech anyway that can be applied to moving models as well instead of static assets on UE5.

Astro bot apparently employs some simple Ray traced lighting.

Does anyone know if there is a performance mode for watchdog legions PS5? Have we seen any footage from the PS5 yet?

I'm pretty sure WDL won't be improved on PS5 even if that was possible.

Another batch of screenshots I've made from youtube videos that are "MASSIVELY" compressed compared to direct feed footage, and yet they look better than anything we've seen on other platforms. Spiderman MM uses film grain and lens distortion to the edges to add that organic, film-like look:

PS4 models are still unmatched on any platform to date, and while other lesser studios trying to catch up with PS Studios, the bar has yet been raised again! At this point, PS Studios are having internal competition.

Put in mind that those are video stills, not true photos, so quality is being lost in the process with video compression, yet other games would dream to hit this level let alone direct feed!

Dude you know someone who does tech analysis is going to be very disappointed to not able to criticize it upon magnification 🤣🤣🤣

I think that Spiderman MM + Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart are using polygon/atom streaming using Atom View, explains the insane draw distance of the RT and the mindblowing detailed models and assets yet for that massive map of Manhattan it's still only 50GB due to no LOD system but polygon-budget/frame that Epic Games borrowed from Sony Atom View to make/license their own Nanite tech.

Watch at 00:45

They showed it in 2017, Sony bought them in 2019 and added them to Sony Innovation Studios and they are working heavily with Sony Pictures but their engine/plugin is compatible with games:

Atom View is a revolutionary point-cloud rendering, editing, and coloring software solution for volumetric virtual production. Atom View enables content creators to visualize, edit, color correct and manage volumetric data. Atom View can combine multiple volumetric data sets captured from different angles producing a single output for use in virtual film productions, video games, and interactive experiences with true photoreal cinematic quality. This advanced software engine is giving content creators incredible technology to tell stories in new and amazing ways.

More like SSR which still looks nice in most occasions and could confuse you as RT.
It's entirely possible, I'm no Alex Battaglia RT expert type. But I could have sworn I saw accurate reflections from objects outside of screen space, but then again there might be another explanation for that.

Yes, it is 100% accurate. When it's on screen, you can have accurate reflections via SSR (Screen Space Reflections). But look away for a bit and that reflection disappears. Here:

Timestamped:

Cubemapped reflections are baked into the buildings to give the illusion of semi-RT goodness but they look bad up close.

For sure, but can you see the reflection of something in a window or puddle if the object isn't actually visible on screen? Because that's what I saw in that WD footage.

Man, can you help me out? Couldn't find something that's definitive. At what time exactly?

Only wanted to watch about 10 min worth but watched all 1 hr 30 min of it.

Astro's Playroom has got to be one of the most amazing and charming games ever made.

The homage to the history of Playstation hardware and games is really awesome!

Rob at Playstation Access, who was playing, described the game as pure joy, and people in the comment section, which numbered over 5,000 at one point, which is also a streaming record for Playstation Access, said that it was game of the year material.

I was grinning almost the whole time watching this.

Can't wait to play it and FEEL it.

And here I thought it was largely a demo to show off the controller.

What Japan Studio and Sony have pulled off is pure genius and I hope it leads to a resurgence of these type of platform games.

It because of games like this that I am a huge Sony fan.

I hope Sony is making another Astro game.

Hats off to Playstation Access, one of the best channels on YouTube. Really enjoy their content.

Is Sony going to hit a home run at launch? Astro, Spiderman and Demon's Soul?

Could someone recognize the headset he's using? Is it Sony's MDR's? FrankWza FrankWza thurnishaleygw thurnishaleygw ? I really wanna know how to have good quality recording for not so much expensive set up, I usually record outdoors so some imperfections aren't noticeable by the audience (nature) but sometimes need to do some corrections or voice over at home.

I really like that bald guy, he's the best. The rest are "meh".

It's difficult to tell from a frontal perspective as he's seeing on the video, but considering the set has a built-in mic, I don't think is the classic Sony MDR. We can move this up to DM and I can give you some tips and what could work for you. Hit me up with what you're looking for and the use you would give it and I can recommend you some stuff.

Looks sick! thurnishaleygw thurnishaleygw gonna teach me now in the DM, lol.
looks right? Hard to tell but the way the mic curves it's close. I think they're discontinued . Share with me what you learn, I'm sure he's much more well informed than me. I just enjoy audio. ;)
Also, I think the platinum is superior to the pulse 3d. I think it may be that theres a driver size difference? The platinum has a fuller sound and 3d positions are much easier to point out. And it's noticeable too. We'll see on PS5 I guess
