Which one would you take out?

I liked the 360 but overall I feel like things would be fine, possibly even better, without Microsoft. They're the most cynical of the 3 and I've been burned by them repeatedly outside of gaming. And most of their IPs are coming to PC.

edit: The premise is you have to choose one, to be eliminated from the console market only.

why would you even post this question? all 3 are needed to keep each other on their toes. while I mainly play on xbox we need sony because they push things in a different direction and I love my ps4. Nintendo do what Nintendo always does and awesome as always

I voted Microsoft, but on second thought, I think Sony might be the better choice. They lost their identity over the last generation or two and are just another Microsoft without Windows. At this point, I think I would prefer for Microsoft to consolidate all of the western development scene to their platform so we could get PC versions as well.

I feel like Nintendo could afford to be a bit less niche and try for more hardcore content if there were more breathing room in the console space.

For the record, I will be buying a PS5 and not an Xbox, but only because of the exclusives. I'd much rather play all of my games on PC if I had the option.

It's just that PlayStation is basically a western company now, and if Sony got out of gaming, all of those devs would surely put their games out on PC and Xbox, which would be preferable, especially with Game Pass.

Nintendo make some of the best games around, yeah they may not be full 4k and ray traced but they have playability

They kind of went just one step too far into the niche/gimmick zone for my taste. They still make great games, but they seem to focus a lot on polishing 1 or 2 gimmicks (good ones, don't get me wrong) and kind of neglect the rest of their titles. They don't make perfect games anymore. They couldn't even make average quality dungeons in Zelda. :/

Lets see how long this thread stays open.

Not even an option for none?

We need them all to basically keep each other honest.
Any industry will little to no competition usually turns to shit.

I cant even imagine a hell where the only console choice is between the Switch and the PS5.

MS are the odd one out because they give you very few sublime gaming experiences unlike S&N. Don't want to see any of them "eliminated" as the current hierachy and power struggles keep all 3 companies on their toes and innovating. Steel sharpens steel...

I like the MS controller and ecosystem better, and everything on the Sony platform could be made on the Xbox. You could also make all the same assersions for MS games too, they could be made on the PlayStation. Nintendo is the best of the 3.

Kinda of a weird questions, preferably none but probably Microsoft since their games are on PC.
The thing is that Microsoft is much more than games and believe me when I tell you that it is the less of evils when you compare it to Amazon, Facebook, and Google.

And yes, I mentioned those companies because if Microsoft disappears (or their xbox division), you can bet your ass that either of those would buy it and god save us if that happens.

Sony and Nintendo are also “anti-consumer”, but nowhere near the level of the companies I already mentioned.

Right now, the big N, Sony and Microsoft must learn to play together, otherwise these new players (specially Amazon and its agressive luna and prime gaming campaign) will dominate the market.

If I had to, then MS easily. But in reality the competition is a good thing, as it pushes everyone to keep innovating and raising standards. Although only one of those is a trillion dollar mega-corp who is capable of outspending everyone and devouring the whole industry.

Gun to my head? Nintendo.

Wish I could say MS (and to be frank they're trying to get out of the hardware business), but their engineering pedigree speaks for itself, plus I find their presence and approach helps spur their competitors to keep up.

Note that they'd still get to exist in the PC space. You're just eliminating them from consoles.

My friend who is a Nintendo fanboy who hates Sony believes that PS5 will destroy Sony and they have to go back to selling buildings to stay afloat.

No more Ootoro sashimi and uni for the head honchos at Sony. Only rice with some strips of seaweed and Miso soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

They lost their identity? Their identity seems pretty intact to me. Games first. Worked for the past 7 years and 100,000,000+ ps4's they sold.

Sony or Microsoft. Since I prefer the Xbox controller, I voted Sony.

Nintendo... Simply because I dislike their games and their approach doesn't interest me.

Sony has the games and MS has the model that suits me best.

This thread doesn't make much sense. I mean, if Sony was removed from the console manufacturing, they would probably keep releasing their games on PC and maybe even other systems, just like Microsoft.

I should say, "their Japanese identity." Started fading with the PS3 and was cemented with the PS4.

I agree with their games first approach, but if they bailed out of the business, all of those developers wouldn't just disappear. They would go straight to Xbox and Windows.

It's a subjective feeling thing, obviously. I think I'm just bitter that they turned into a western company.

Nintendo, because I am not 8 years old anymore. They seem to not care. I have zero interest in any of their games. And they are always three generations behind on technology. How they succeed blows my mind.

Those of you picking MS or Sony, I’d hate to live in a world where these two don’t have to check each other and you would too so stop with that shit, you have no idea what you are talking about!!

We have seen what both would do when left to their own devices!! Think!!!!

Would these companies exit gaming completely? (as in no longer making games or consoles).
If so then probably microsoft.

Would these companies just stop making consoles but continue making games?
If so Nintendo, because the only reason I buy their overpriced crap is because I like their games. Literally every single Switch game I Iike would be better on ps4/XB1/PC.
