Is this the average number of unique active members in a given time period? At first I assumed it was the average of the total number of online users, but when I peek at the total number of online visitors on the front page it's usually below this number.
 
I pointed out how stupid Bo's recent post was but it's weird how many people want him perm'd. Like do these posts really bother you that much? Even while admitting he makes threads/posts you enjoy? I dunno, I just don't get perms for popular members, honestly, unless their behavior is just beyond the pale. Not saying I don't sympathize with the mods, I just have a very different ethos about these things, I get how frustrating it can be when someone just won't do what they're told and keeps making the same dumb mistakes.

At a certain point it is on him, whatever I think of the sites rules and how they're administered he has to ask himself if it's worth it to keep doing what he's doing and catch a perm, I don't want him perm'd but I also have no sympathy if he keeps doing the same shit.

Wait until the results in January after the December Restera GAF membership drive for December to analyze the stats.

Dude is so sad I don't even wanna bully. Strikes me as a suicide waiting to happen. I've seen it before. No self-confidence, struggle to communicate and bond with people, make yourself a doormat for a social clique that doesn't even like you, constantly bullied by that clique so try even harder to appease them, in this case tripling down on the transnarcissism ego feeding and hateful leftist rhetoric. It's a very deep mental hole to be in and I hope he realises his situation and does something about it sooner rather than later.

He was already perm'd for the exact same thing and was given another chance and clearly doesn't care.

Bo and I have had several conversations and theres s stark contrast to how he talks to people. If you agree with him its all fine and dandy but the moment you don't he becomes a complete dick. Like yeah, its the internet, people are dicks, but this isn't a forum where you can say and do whatever you want. if you want to be here you can be respectful and value the conversations that can be had.

The fact he has been perm'd for this before is what gets to people. It feels like if it was any other poster the rules wouldn't be bent this much.

I was saying that current the numbers on the front page are lower than the posted stats from previous months though, so increased activity now doesn't have anything to do with that. They must be referring to different numbers.

The funny thing is he keeps taking the brunt of it, but there are a couple others running around unchecked that really deserve the time off more.

I dunno, my impression from the few threads I see explode into wars - what was the one yesterday, might have been cyberpunk bugs? I jump to last page and it's descended into wars and it's the same people. I dunno, maybe they're being warned but I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot more names go the same way in the next few weeks. I remember back when it was a few xbox people doing the same. So you get rid of some, then you notice the others more. There's only a handful left so they stick out more these days. Some have changed like I see them just chilled now and discussing. I guess some people just aren't capable of change.
 
Bo should get a ban thread and his privileges removed. Thats my take.

I find more annoying the amount of neo members bringing resetera with them to here.

i agree Fake Fake , but looking at the ban list and seeing names like master of disguise, hobbess and co., makes me feel confident that mods are doing a good job ensuring that they dont infect GAF. they will learn to have fun here and leave the activism for the streets (which is where they should be doing that stuff anyway, if they genuinely want to have any kind of meaningful impact), or they will go bye bye. and look at it this way, even if they do manage to slip through the cracks, we get to shit kick em around until they decide to peace out. its (kind of) a win-win!

On the other hand, I'm more concerned about actual Gaf residents defending neo members with that kind of attitude. I know we have different takes, different opinions, but this does not get them free pass to shitpost and trying to imposed their twisted demented ideas here as if this is supposed to be Era 2. If a neo want to discuss games and is actually interest in discuss with others, I'm all for it.

These 'hatred' insta-perms went far enough this round to concern me.

Transgenderism is not an immutable, like skin color. It is an idea, like religion, or a set of beliefs. Not everyone is on board. Not everyone has to be. Gaf is great because ideas and commentary are mooted and discussed freely, without fear of the axe dropping on you. I feel this begins to cross the line into infringing on that.

For example, we follow this precedent down the track, the next time I criticize Islam, am I gone as well?

Another bit about Gaf that is wonderful, is moderation understanding and context. Miffy had escaped from an insane asylum and was venting. This was not likely to signify permanent behavior, but we'll never get the chance to find out, because the punishment is so absolute.

Gaf should remain a guiding light for all other discussion sites, rather than beginning to match them to make the insecure comfortable.

If he is specifically referring to the trannies at Resetera when he says they're mentally deranged men pretending to be women, he's correct. Those are class II trannies, i.e. transtrenders. They are almost all low social status males looking for a way around the natural social hierarchy. If he means all transgender people, including those with legitimate dysphoria, then I support the ban. Generally speaking, a 5 message old account shouldn't get the same kinda leeway that established regulars do.

Did you only read the linked post or the one that followed it as well? How many post like that should be allowed and remain as an example to other new members of what's acceptable content? Leading to other people thinking that's OK content to post. I was genuinely going to correct him, I would have probably been wasting my time though.

They're words, Nush. Not bioweapons. They affect you insomuch as you let them.

I will break bread with you in that these are a very incendiary collection of words, but the point remains. In every single case that isn't straight Nazism/Marxism/racism, I would prefer words and opposing words before moderation.

At the least, I would think the perm is too much.
