[DF] Mortal Shell PS5 vs Xbox Series S/X

It's also an easy Xbox win until the resolution is fixed on PS5.
Did you see the video? I would really argue the opposite. Slightly unstable frame rate and texture loading issues on the XSX.

Will be interesting to see if the texture loading challenge is due to the resolution i.e. an I/O limitation on the XSX.

Even Bo Hazam said that VGTech said the texture loading lasts about 1.5 secs, and ONLY happens when you first load into the level, and not anywhere else.
Also there was no texture loading problem for me on PC on a Sata ssd.
People really need to stop thinking every little problem with next gen games is down to IO.

I have not played the game - but DF states that it is fairly clearly noticeable and happens more often than that. Will have to look myself to see what the deal is.

So who won this one? I mean really. 1800p 60 with some drops...texture loading issue for like a second or so vs. 1400 p a more solid 60 but still drops at times, no texture loading issues.

I mean is a draw on the table?

I'm not choosing sides, I already beat this when I got it from EGS playing at 120fps 1080p. On a monitor, I believe this is the best way to play. I'll change my mind once I get a new GPU.

What? so resolution is bugged on PS5? but, honestly I didn't notice it, the jump from a regular PS4 to Morthal Shell's PS5 native version is awesome, really, almost feels like with a little bit more of an effort it could reach Demon's Souls levels of awesomeness, it is that good.

Definitely recommended for a Souls fan.

Why are people on here asking the devs on twitter ?
This is a whole new thing for me. I don't understand it. Sounds like trying to get ammo to fuck someone over.

Bit strange.
People no... me.

If you read it was a reply to the Dev saying the PS5 version was 1800p so I pointed them that the game was not running at original resolution.

Serious question, WTF is up with the detail on the series X version.

Have they actually tested the enhanced edition on Series X or downloaded the original version and not realised.

Unfortunately, there is a fanatical desire by some to come into these comparisons and highlight the positives of one system, outright ignore the negatives of another, and declare a "clear winner" despite all the evidence that makes it obvious each system has areas where it is stronger.

A draw would be something clear thinking people are willing to entertain, but for a lot of folks...

Pretty pathetic that the "Next Gen" consoles are cutting graphical settings on LAST GEN GAMES while struggling to hit dynamic 1440-1800p. These boxes badly needed substantial hardware backed DLSS/AI upscaling, it's mind blowing they went into a decade long console generation without it.

We will see what will happen when PS5 will have 1800p resolution ( will it be native or not, we will see). Well, XSX has a dynamic 1800p, PS5 probably native 1440p

Otherwise, PS5 has a bit more stable framerate and no tearing. Anyway, from VG Tecv

So higher Series X higher res most of the time at the expense of 49 torn frames and 79 frames not at 60 fps out of 22,000+ total frames.

Series X wins another one.

22,500 total frames / 60 fps = 375 seconds = a little more than 6 minutes

Series X 49 torn frames and 79 frames not at 60 fps = 118 frames of deficiency = about 2 seconds. And that assumes none of them happen at the same time.

So out of 6+ minutes, you got 2 seconds.

Congrats for noticing 2 seconds worth of torn frames or the game running at 56 fps for every 6 minutes you play the game. lol

Series X's power is starting to show. 😁
What....really? Based off this rushed port......that happens to fall at ps4 pro res on ps5 despite them saying it should be 1800p and falls at xbox one x res on series x. Probably just a coincidence 🙄

Also has a multitude of issues on series x,

But yeah let's use this clearly not working as intended game as an indication of power, despite seeing games with much more time put into actual next gen versions performing almost identical.

Clearly been a quick bc update, calling it native as its been tweaked but clearly isn't right as they said it would be.

Guys, both versions have their strengths and weaknesses, and both can do with a little bit of optimization.

A 1800p patch is already in QA for PS5, and with DRS, it won't affect the frame rates at all. Those drops near the door opening where nothing is happening is clearly a bug, as there is no reason for dropped frames there.

Similarly, there is no way XSX data streaming can't handle a small 5GB game. It will be sending, what, a maximum of 1 Gb of data at a time? Shouldn't be a problem at all. Also, with a better functioning DRS, those additional frame drops can be easily fixed.

Series S might have to be locked around 900p for proper 60 FPS.

We shall resume this eternal battle later.

Why are people console warring with hardware that's literally made by the same company?

Humans are meant to be tribalists I guess.

IIRC out of those dipped fps, most of it were due to streaming bug.

I keep seeing people say when Xbox has an issue it's a hardware problem with PS5 has an issue its a problem with the developer. It's odd but I'm sure these software issues will get addressed. Both machines are capable of playing a cross gen title.

Well it was worth a try.

Funny how some desperately try to claim a win, but clearly both versions have performance issues in different areas. So drawing a line is premature and useless since patches will follow for both versions. The game development team is a very small one by today standards, and couldn't find and fix every issue for this rushed release.

Because we've seen these kind of issues since the start of the gen with the XSX.

Unreal Engine's temporal upsampling is really good. I didn't notice the blurriness due to resolution reduction on the Series S version that I'd usually expect to see after looking at the Series X version in these videos.

So do any of you actually like the game? I donated to it's development when it was first announced by the team and I've ran through it a few times on PC.

I see y'all arguing in these threads and I always wonder do any of you actually play the games you get banned console warring over :messenger_tears_of_joy:

And don't come at me, I'm not on either side i own both the ps5 and X + Switch and a very dope Rig lol
You mean actually comparing the game on its story, merits, and gameplay instead of arguing minimal differences between the versions that serve as fodder for console wars here???

Blasphemy!

And another one who ignoring screen tearing, worse texture streming and worse fps on average on XSX. Well, wait for the tools. But looks like higher resolution is the key to victory, i guess. :/
And another one who embarassing himself and xbox community. What else to expect from them. Looks like it so painful for Xbox fans that their lovely tower of power can't outperform clearly a "much" weaker console.

Xbox won! 🥇
