One of the better from Alex imo, Higher res =/= Image quality. Too bad the gameplay seems boring because it looks damn good sometimes.

Also, whats going on in this scene? Lighting? The Series X has better IQ and text in other scenes:

Looks like different DOF setting.

not like this GIF

yep, the IQ on PS5 in performance mode is garbage. Looks just as bad as it did on the pro. Blurry, pixelated mess. One of the worst checkerboard implementation ever and the UI is affected by it too which looks so odd

basically XsX renders in higher game and postprocess resolutions and looks better in most places while PS5 has CHECKER BOARD rendering form a lower res that muddys its image even if the output res is higher in a given frame.

performance is basically the same but the Xbox consoles can drop 2 frames lower here or there in performance mode based on effects. but again its doing more rendering work.

difference in DOF XsX is blurring more.

Its weird how resolution suddenly doesn't matter anymore when xbox has that advantage? Strange, i would never accuse any site of platform bias or anything, but it seems weird

edit; i seemed to have stirred the pot a bit, im not a warrior, i have both and use them regularly, its just sort of strange that the narrative has changed

I mean you can run PC games in 4K(including this game) while putting the settings/effects on Low. Not a hard concept to understand. A higher resolution is meaningless to a degree when its at a detriment to everything else image related.

I think the point being made is that the PS5 has the higher resolution output yet the XsX iq looks better. It's not about pixel counts or how you get there, it's about the final quality is the message.

So quality mode is pretty much exactly the same on PS5 and XSX, but PS5 performance mode suffers due to checkerboarding.

Avoid the PS5 version if you want performance mode.

They should've removed the CB, it isn't needed this gen.
CB implementation and the quality of it seems to vary a lot from engine to engine. If you look at a game like HZD on PS4 Pro, it's excellent, and near-indistinguishable from native 4K. Guerilla have done a great job. If you look at RDR2's CB on Pro, it's so awful just like it is here in Avengers.

We need a set standard from AMD's side in upsampling techniques like DLSS or Unreal's temporal upsampling ASAP to avoid this inconsistency. If you want to look at a good temporal upsampling tech from an Unreal engine game, then look no further than Mortal Shell on Series S. The reconstructed 1800p on that console looks indistinguishable from the actual native 1800p on Series X.

Bathallia at best.

"A loading segment that took over a minute on PS4 Pro resolves in four seconds on PlayStation 5 rising to around six seconds on Series X. This is where the notion of percentage differences in performance is at odds with the actual experience - yes, Xbox Series consoles take 50 per cent longer to complete a load than PlayStation 5, but when the difference is just two seconds, the difference in the user experience is not especially noticeable."

I dont really see whats wrong with what he said, unless you are trying to suggest ANYONE outside of biased fanboys will actually care about 2 secs longer loading.

Series X clear winner, will be standard this gen going forward. And ps5 ssd seems to have never made a big difference, only 1-2 second difference most of the time.

Now the rushed launch games are out of the way, XSX really seems to be changing the tide.
Yep, I expect the differences to become bigger in significant 3rd party games as time goes by. It will all be crystal clear by next Christmas. Love that MS waited for the whole RDNA2 feature set instead of rushing things just to gain a few meaningless early DF victories (if even that, it's not that post-patches, ps5 has any victories).

Typical Bathalia way of thinking... deny or find a excuse for anything that seems better on PS5

this is by far the worst next gen patch i have ever seen. even the 4 tflops series s has native res.

shocking tbh. these devs are clueless. took them five months to get this thing out and they release this disaster.
I always find it hilarious how bad licensed games can be. The studio is handed on a silver platter the characters and villains. The licensor surely helps them out with digital assets. I dont think the game studio starts from scratch with nothing to go on.

So you'd think it should make life easier for the dev team since they got starting material to work with, yet it seems most licensed games are crap. This has been going on since Atari and NES.
