How come my Xbox Series X doesn't support this ultra-widescreen support? I thought it was the strongest, most advanced dedicated gaming console. I guess Xbox will always play second fiddle to PC.
and after the leaked bf6 screenshot ...all of a sudden people will realize how good halo infinite graphics are lol
What? Breath of the wild looks amazing.Breath of the wild says hi.
What? Breath of the wild looks amazing.
I love high tech graphics as much as the next guy but BotW looks amazing. Art direction can go a long way. Also see Ori.What they did with the hardware was impressive, however for a 2017 game it was graphically inferior at an immense level. In the same year games like hellblade, horrizon zero dawn and uncharted lost legacy were all graphically putting it to shame.
But it does prove that graphics aren't always the most important thing........in that case gameplay or portability were king.
Which is what 343 is allegedly doing and yet there's still complaining. It's a fanbase that doesn't seem like it will ever be happy.I guess they want large open-ended levels (eg. Halo, AotCR, Tsavo Highway, The Ark), non-bullet spongy enemies, a balanced and interesting arsenal (see: https://tinyurl.com/38jwvxdk) and a return to actually playing as the Chief.
I think you're confusing "graphics fidelity" with "art style". Zelda BotW lacks the first, but exudes the second, just like any Studio Ghibli movie. What they did with the hardware was impressive, however for a 2017 game it was graphically inferior at an immense level. While Resident Evil VIII and Hitman 3 are both impressive, it is clearly Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart so far this year. This may change (less likely with Horizon because of cross-gen, and more likely if God of War shows up as a full PS5 exclusive). Perhaps Battlefield, if it is purely next-gen, takes that crown later in the year.and what should be the best game this year ?
I don't think you're getting what I'm trying to say lad, obviously gameplay will always trump graphics, but I'm talking about their marquee game, the one to get everyone talking about the series X and how do we get people talking about a console, you blow their minds with visuals first and halo did the complete opposite
I just don't care that much; I mean I want it.. but I care waaayyy more about hoping they return to having big battles between multiple enemy types happening while you engage and that sort of thing. You can have both, hell you should be demanding both, Halo should be taking part in a massive open plain with vehicles and huge space battles happening overhead with capital ships crashing into distant mountain ranges, they should've showed something completely epic and they fucking squandered it and ended up with Craig

There are people in this thread saying the game should be cancelled.. before we know anything other than mediocre graphics. Those are the people I don't get. I get wishing for better graphics.
If they aren't simulating an awesome world w/ battles they can fuck off, whether they had photorealistic graphics or Minecraft level graphics.
No, I believe you are looking at it wrong. I can give you a simple example, Windwaker looks better than any of the games you mentioned, Breath of the Wild does too. What they did with the hardware was impressive, however for a 2017 game it was graphically inferior at an immense level. In the same year games like hellblade, horrizon zero dawn and uncharted lost legacy were all graphically putting it to shame.

We are asking for it to be cancelled because it really looks like a last gen game. If you don't wanna cancel it then just announced that's an xbox one game with some upgrades for XSX and be done with it. A lot of people would be happier and then will decide if they wanna buy it or not. Just don't try to pass this as an XSX game when it clearly isn't.Someone seems to get it. How good a job do they do of building a really nice looking, alive and interesting Zeta Halo with amazing, sometimes fairly large and epic, sandbox combat simulation? That's what matters more than anything. I continue to hope and pray they actually allow us to dive from the back of that pelican to enter engagements during campaign battle royale style. Huge miss if they don't do it. Hell, they even teased it in the Discover Hope trailer and again with the below official art.

I think you guys are confused, the whole arguement was that graphics don't always drive the popularity of a title. No, I believe you are looking at it wrong. I can give you a simple example, Windwaker looks better than any of the games you mentioned, Breath of the Wild does too.
I believe you're the one who is confused. breath of the wild looks great obviously because they went for a cell shade style, but that doesn't matter, the point is that it looks great. Halo on the other hand went for a realistic look and it looks like crap, it's as simple as that.I think you guys are confused, the whole arguement was that graphics don't always drive the popularity of a title.
At the same time, be realistic, split hairs between graphics fidelity and art style, botw looks good for a cartoony style game (as does win waker) but in no ways pushes any graphics envelope or benchmark for 2017.
Which leads us back to the point though, that halo doesn't need to be the graphics leader in 2021 to be a great and popular game.
there was a thread about it ... I don't know if the screenshots have been confirmed btw it will be quite easy to find them on the net..SenjuWait, where is this exactly?
Aye if you're a 10y.o.No, I believe you are looking at it wrong. I can give you a simple example, Windwaker looks better than any of the games you mentioned, Breath of the Wild does too.
Well, the complaining I have seen in this thread is about the graphics, not gameplay. And people did seem to be excited by 343's description of how the open world works. So I don't think the issue is the kind of game 343 are trying to make, but the fact that a lot of people don't trust them. And that the in-game demo was graphically a huge disappointment compared to the engine demo.Which is what 343 is allegedly doing and yet there's still complaining. It's a fanbase that doesn't seem like it will ever be happy.

Errr ok, there is no reasoning with that. The games cell shaded look is fine, but for some reason you choose to overlook frame rate, resolution, anti aliasing, etc as if none of it matters. Botw would have looked significantly better on almost any hardware but the switch. The xbox one ps4 are about 3 times as powerful and the ps4 pro/Xbox were even more. You are seeing through some seriously rose colored glasses. If you don't believe me, watch this and still tell me botw was the best it could be.
I didn't realise we had members of the 343 development team posting on GAF. Any other insider details you can share?I feel sorry for the talented artists at 343 that were hired based on their abilities and experience. They must be shouldering the weight of all those purple haired diversity hires and thinking why are we doing this. Those guys must be disappointed in this while the diversities are thinking this looks great and patting each other on the back in their unconscious bias seminars.
This will be a lesson for the ages about how things turn out when you hire based on criteria other than skill and talent.
We've known Infinite won't look like the 2018 demo for a year so what's the point of still complaining about the graphics.Well, the complaining I have seen in this thread is about the graphics, not gameplay. Well, I think because 343 themselves said the game wasn't ready to be shown and promised improvements, and because some of the latest screenshots did look a lot better. Then in these screenshots you have a similar looking brute model, and some quite flat indoor lighting. IMO, the new screenshots are underwhelming not just relative to the 2018 demo, but relative to the other work 343 have shown. We've known Infinite won't look like the 2018 demo for a year so what's the point of still complaining about the graphics.
Halo games (other than Halo 4 which the "real" Halo fans don't like, and which I consider the second best campaign after the original Halo) were never amazing graphically so other than just complaining for the sake of complaining, what's the point of this thread for Halo fans? If 343 nails what they want in terms of game play, why complain that the graphics aren't cutting edge? This thread is actually starting (I can't believe I'm saying this) to make me empathize with 343 - Halo fans will always find something to complain about.

The thing that will make or break them will be the gameplay. Graphics are good, not mindblowing at all compared to what we should be expecting from a next-gen game.
I just want to see gameplay, how open is this world, what kind of missions are we going to see, the different objectives/ activities we still know next to nothing about the game beyond whatever they showed last year.
I think it looks great! I'm super excited to play it on my XSX and PC, and the cross progression/cross play mantra carrying over from the MCC port is wonderful. Yeah there'll be spots that could be improved, but I understand game development is hard.
The 32:9 landscape shot with the beam emitter is gorgeous. The dusk/flatter lighting scenarios look worse due to the nature of dynamic lighting and PBR. I think if 343/Microsoft is smart, their showcase at E3 will have Chief move from night time in the world, to an interior Forerunner building, and then exit into daylight. 3 of the most flattering lighting and material conditions that highlight their graphics and shows diversity in gameplay locations.
I may also be in the minority here where I applaud MS and 343 for supporting the last gen with this game. By the time the game comes out there will be approximately what, like 10 million Series sales? Idk. But like 60M Xbox One users? And lower-spec PC users? The people that haven't been able to get a Series will be able to play the game, with their friends, and you know... have fun. It's pretty selfish and tacky to demand a game get cancelled just so you can see some prettier visuals.
Xbox One and One X versions are probably going to be 30fps I would think, then 60fps for Series consoles in Campaign mode. Multiplayer is going to be interesting as 120fps is an instant advantage online.
gonna love pounding newbs at 200+fps lolXbox One and One X versions are probably going to be 30fps I would think, then 60fps for Series consoles in Campaign mode. Multiplayer is going to be interesting as 120fps is an instant advantage online.
Nobody is saying BoTW is the best it could be. They are saying for the vast majority when you take everything into account it looks very pretty and appealing. So BoTW isn't an example of a game succeeding despite its visuals.
Well, we agree on that point, but I think the issue with Halo isn't really that people think it has graphics that are technically unimpressive. It's that it looks bad.Its an example of a game coming out without cutting edge graphics and still massively succeeding, which was the whole point.

I think people are very willing to ignore technical shortcomings, but not to forgive a game just looking ugly.
I agree it won't be, it definitely looks like it would have if they didn't delay it though. The art was just not holding up.The game isn't going to look ugly, almost zero chance of that. At worst it will have 7.5/10 graphics, at best a 9.
Multiplayer is free tho.My view on Halo Infinite is MS does not need it to be the most graphically impressive game this gen. Let's be honest, this isn't about it being made for last gen vs this gen, it is about it being made for Game Pass. They need it to be is fun enough to go beyond their typical shill streaming channels and become mainstream. They need it to be the game that people sub and keep those Game Pass subs for. They want our GAAS money. The free ride is coming to an end and no matter how hard some of you try they ain't taking ass as payment.
What does that have to do with putting it on Game Pass and GAAS? GAAS does not require a pay-to-play online model.Multiplayer is free tho.
Cutting edge? Cutting edge? We aren't asking for graphica to be cutting edge lmao, we are asking for it to at least be on par with any triple AAA title released in the past 5 years. Instead we're getting what it looks like an early Xbox One game. We've known Infinite won't look like the 2018 demo for a year so what's the point of still complaining about the graphics.

I know it doesn't but how does a f2p game with no barrier to multiplayer access on all platforms equate to the free ride being over? What does that have to do with putting it on Game Pass and GAAS? GAAS does not require a pay-to-play online model.

That's not what's being asked for unless we're reinterpreting "it doesn't look next gen" as something other than it doesn't look next gen.Cutting edge? Cutting edge?
