TCL Technology have said that a new Xbox Series S/X and PS5 Pro are coming in 2023/2024

I skipped PS4 Pro and Scorpio and have never regretted it. Just no chance I will ever waste money on incremental crap like that. Switch 2 will probably be around sometime in that general area, and will be a much better purchase.
Well this is my main hobby and when I can sell my OG PS4 for 200 notes and buy a PS4 Pro for 350 it's a no brainier. We're talking peanuts for the hardware for how often it's used.

I might keep my OG Series S though rather than upgrade that.

This is almost surely speculation. Has AMD even confirmed the AMD 7700 yet? Also this would be a GROSS violation of corporate trust by TCL in the stupidest way possible.

Couldn't care less about a stronger PS5. It already plays the PS4 backlog as good as they can run, for ,99% of games. A PS5 slim, for a longer lasting and cooler running unit is more interesting to me.

PC has my power needs covered.

I don't think this is confirmation.

Considering they have PS4 Pro under 2017 (it launched 2016) i would say this is just speculation on their part for now and dates are just inaccurate and in the air.

Yeah, I'm thinking this is also mainly speculation on their part. I can understand why a TV manufacturer would want Pro systems in 2023/2024 though if they have new TVs at the time that could benefit from a sales boost, the way 4K TVs benefited from PS4 Pro and One X existence in 2016/2017.

Plus, Sony are just now starting to sort out supply issues with PS5; Microsoft are forecasting their consoles sales to slow down for at least the next quarter too, and they're rumored to be bringing out a streaming box. I think this time around both MS and Sony benefit more from other types of devices in their ecosystem than just more powerful versions of their current flagships (the potential of which are still not fully tapped). Streaming box for Microsoft, handheld/portable (hybrid?) for Sony, etc.

the chip shortage didn't stop the PS5 and thr Series consoles from selling faster than their predecessors... so 🤷

Yeah but the difference is that these consoles haven't reached anything near a saturation point in the market to warrant an upgrade that will reinvigorate stagnating sales. Shit, nearly two years in and we have barely had any actual next gen games yet. This generation is kinda wack tbh.

Aside from loading time magic and a little ooing and ahhing ay the dual sense in the early days, I perfer pretty much everything from PS4 era. Dashboard layout, console shape, controller etc.

Kinda wish PS5 could use PS4's dashboard simillar to XB across the way. It looks so boring in piss grey, at least let us recolor it blue ffs. I want a "Super PS4 Pro" lol instead of a PS5 Pro.

Edit: a more normal shape and more capacity would get me to look at least, or hell give us the dev units in white and black you cowards!

Same fam.
So.....what will the next Series be called? Xbox Series XX?
Xbox Series X-2? Xbox's naming convention is hot garbage.

I have no reason to believe this is wrong. Its entirely normal for industry players to consult with eachother on forward-thinking tech.

I am curious to see what kind of power we are looking at. RDNA3 or RDNA4 seems to be a potential for a substantial leap. I just hope the focus remains 4k with 60-120fps.

Going by MS naming conventions, the next Xbox can be named anything from Xbox Series X2 to Xbox Orange Peel GT.

2023 would be good date tough I doubt it, seeing ue5 performance consoles aged not that good in this 1.5 years after premiere

Series X and PS5 confirmed to actually be Series X Pro and PS4 Pro: No, Really.

Can't see a refresh coming while most games are still cross gen.

A premium model for those who want it is a great move (personally I'll take both!). Options are good.

Plus if you did want to sell your regular PS5 or XSX to help fund the upgrade then prices will probably still be pretty solid two years from now.

This assumes saturation was the main driver behind the mid gen refreshes last gen. It was more that people were willing to pay more for higher resolution and performance. Base PS4 and One S still sold right alongside the more powerful consoles.

It feels to me like the generational leaps of the past are actually a bad thing and waiting a whole generation for console tech to catch up once a decade isn't the right go-forward strategy for console. Making console gamers wait 6 or more years for performance they can get on PC now is not a good strategy for retaining customers. A lot of people on the website NeoGAF.com already abandoned console for PC because of how quickly console falls behind. I think we'll continue to see upgrades every 3 or 4 years going forward.

they need to put the Cell back in PS5Pro so you can play PS3 games, im sure Sony and AMD will find a way to customize and fine tune the hardware.

It would be in the interest of the US and other western countries to keep TSMC out of the hands of China.
Right. I didn't know the US was backing Intel AND tsmc though... I need to pay more attention. They say they will produce chips in Arizona by 2024, so we will see.

Why would they come out in 2023? The earliest is fall 2024. Both the Series X and Ps5 are selling like crazy at retail price. No need to bring in new hardware too early. Let the current console's manufacturing costs drop and get the profit.

Series X gets moved to the Bedroom, PS5 gets Moved to a kids room.
Xbox One X gets moved to the collection pile, till I get my dream game room.

Sounds like speculation

Reads like speculation

Internet will take it as gospel and run with the information like Adam West with a bomb on his head.

I agree, mid gen refresh's are the way forward for sure. It's just...2023 doesn't seem like it'll be midway through anything. This generation has barely gotten started, not just time wise but also content.

No reason not to do it. Upcharge the hardcore and get a little extra profit. But if they are out in 2023 we might even get another Pro upgrade later this gen.

Don't see the point when most of the games coming are still cross gen.

Elden Ring, Horizon FW and God of war Ragnok can/will play fine on the PS5 so what's the point of dropping another $600 on a pro console, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Man I hope it's true, 2160p at 60/120Hz would be fucking amazing.

Sadly older games released by then wouldn't benefit from the new hardware, only the ones with DRS, while those locked to 1440p60 or 1080p120 would remain so, unless patched, but we all know well nobody cares about games released years go, those titles already made their profit.

Not interested even slightly.

We haven't even really had next-gen games yet lol. What a joke.
I know right.. Honestly its crazy and to say at least disappointing. Almost 2 years after release most games are still made for Jaguar CPU and HDD.And we're still waiting to see that "next gen graphics"..

Unless next gen systems have unique gameplay or features, the big selling points will probably be higher res, RT at 60/120 fps, some other new graphical effects and a bigger SSD. Midgen Pro and One X selling points were basically better visuals and 1tb storage standard. Thats it aside from One X 4k optical drive.

Some console gamers will pony up. Some others will wait for a real next gen system in 2028.
