Am I the only one enjoying Gears/Forza/Halo trinity?

I know people are joking about xbox being a halo/gears/Forza machine, but I actually like these franchises.

Forza is simply just the best racing game out there, and while Gears being far from its peak I really enjoy that as well. Have completed Gears 1 and 2, and are doing the third installment now.

However I hate that focus on the MC Fenyx has changed, and you play as his kid and granddaughter later or whatever the hell she is.

I was annoyed when I started playing Cole instead of Marcus, but I find it cool now as I really enjoy his character. However I doubt I enjoy playing as JD or the woman in five.

I hate changes, but we'll see. I've also only completed halo 1 and 2, and some of the third, but I also enjoy it.
 
I don't know... but I only like Forza vs the other games.

I just cannot get into Halo or Gears.

Haven't touched a Gears game after 3, I felt like they just kept drifting further and further away from what I liked about GOW. The last Halo I really enjoyed was Reach, though I did play quite a bit of Infinite multiplayer for a moment. Haven't gone back, don't know if I ever will. Never cared for racing games though, so haven't touched Forza.
 
I enjoy forza.
Gears i still enjoy but theres something off about it. I enjoyed it alot more when it was dark and gritty.
Halo bleah, althought the infinite campaign was a good starting point in making it better.
 
I like Forza and Halo, though I think 343 needs to be dumped into a sewer and the franchise redirected to one of Microsoft's many other talented fps oriented studios, but Gears. I dunno man, I recognize that they're well made games, but every time I try to get into them they just don't do it for me. Just not really into third person stuff I think. Love Fallout, Doom, Elder scrolls, Deathloop, Outer Worlds, and Dishonored though, so Microsoft's got a sturdy first person line up of IP's for my personal tastes. Give me all the first person RPG's.
 
There is millions of us, hence why they keep making them. :)

Gears 4 & 5 are probably my most played games ever.

& I've been loving my time with halo infinite & Forza Horizon 5 :)

Super pumped for the next gears game.

But I'm also excited for the new ips & fable's return :)
 
The "open world" (lol) in Gears 5 was a letdown, but yeah I enjoy these games as well. I still need to play Halo Infinite though.
They're just pulp action video games and there's no shame in liking that.
 
Time for a new trinity. We need some fresh faces.

Gears is played out and in bad need of an overhaul.

Halo Infinite was pretty good using the Far Cry formula. But overall it's no longer a top tier franchise for me. It's just riding on that name and past success.

Forza took the crown from Gran Turismo, and Horizon is a blast.
 
I haven't liked a Halo game since Reach. Halo 4 was ok, but nothing special. Halo 3 was the last fully epic GOTY contender imo. The rest have either been retreads or simply boring.

Gears 3 was the last great Gears game. Again, the latest entries feel dated and been there done that. Both series need a GOW style reboot to keep things interesting. Right now they are going through franchise fatigue that hit Uncharted 4. You need to completely reboot and there is not much they can do to make these games feel fresh like GOW did unless they make Halo 3rd person or Gears 1st person.

Forza simply didnt feel as good to drive as GT or look as realistic. Horizon is a much better game, but again, the driving model and actual racing feels no better than the Ubisoft and NFS racing games. Racing franchises hit a wall back in the PS3 era and thats when we got great entries with unqiue takes on the racing genre like Motorstorm, Blur, Split Second and Burnout. Simply going open world while racing around tracks is no longer interesting.
 
They're making a Halo/Gears/Forza video game? Ohhh shiiiii!!! I've only ever played some Halo out of all those titles. I did enjoy watching playthrough of the original Gear's trilogy, especially the cutscenes which were pretty excellent.

Gears of War is such a rich universe with an epic backstory, badass villains and memorable characters that the series could go on forever for my tastes.
And no, I don't hate the new main characters because I want to see the universe evolve. If you want to play the same characters doing the same things over and over again I suggest you try Super Mario.
I think I've said it numerous times already, I would like to see a new threat eventually after the swarm is defeated. A new threat that might even require humans and locust/swarm to team up in order to survive. Instead of from beneath the surface it could come from outer space this time.

Forza Horizon is the best racing game, and it makes sense to continue the series until every major continent/country has had it its own dedicated game.

I don't play Halo.
But the Gears/Forza combo is the actual reason why I bought an Xbox in the first place.
 
Damn I completely forgot about Fable.

Fable 2 is such a magical game and I really wished we got more fable

I know they are working on one now, but damn I would love a Fable that's longer than the previous ones.
 
When Halo games take 6 years to make and there's no Motorsport entry in… also 6 years it's kinda hard to even acknowledge this trifecta exists.

Gears 5 was the only one I didn't finish. Forza is great but I'm a bit bored of the franchise now. Halo, well I'm up for more single player but I'm done with MP.
 
That would not be enough for me, if I owned an Xbox. Not because those games aren't great, but the genres aren't ones I enjoy playing.

I am more interested in the future. I hope all the WRPGs deliver.
 
Gears 1,2,3 was incredible. Some of my fav games.
Original halo games too were good

Now Gears and halo suck ass and Forza is just festival of dick sucking.
tbh forza is pretty good but I get bored by it

Forza Horizon has never been better.
What you mean ruined?
Granted some of the "festival vibe" of the prior titles isnt quite there, its still the current gold standard for arcade racers.


After the homologation debacle of Forza Motorsport 7, I cant imagine Turn 10 will fuck it up with Forza Motorsport 2023.


Halo Infinites biggest mistake is lack of content.
The gameplay loop is still amazing, weve just gotten so accustomed to maor moar content that if a game launches without 10 million cosmetics and 100 thousand weapons/maps its considered bad, once Forge finally hits and we get more maps and gameplay modes you'd be hard pessed tor call it ruined.
The campaign isnt gold standard for FPS titles but its still a really really fun romp.


Gears of War 5 MP is amazing, the open world sections of the campaign are purely fluff and I honestly dont know why they would have included it, without the wasted time dong all that traversal shit if you just play the campaign as a straight run, its still an amazing shooter.
I replay the entire Gears collection every year, and people who say it hasnt evolved have to be missing something cuz Gears 4 and 5 are so smooth they are well beyond Gears 3.
Gears 2 is still my favorite but Gears 5 is a hell of a good game.
 
If Halo Infinite had launched with the forge we're currently seeing and a custom game browser, alongside 6 remastered legacy maps (3 for BTB and 3 for Slayer), with a couple of maps every 6 months - it would have been successful IMO.

As for Gears, 5 MP is great but they need to scrap P2P online and fix the gnasher spread issues otherwise it always comes down to a lottery for the tightly contested 1v1s.

Over all both franchises still have their place IMP, just a shame there's niggling things for Gears and pretty severe issues at 343 preventing them from being what they could be.
 
I stopped enjoying gears with 3, barely completed 4 and give up on 5 during act 2, unless there is a serious overhaul i'm not interested in the saga anymore, and please kill the new protagonists, they sucks asses.

Infinite only good thing was the gameplay (created by bungie) and the grqppling hook, not even finished, story and open world was some boring crap, not interested in another halo from 343, i really didn't liked 4 and 5 neither.

I don't play racing games but i always enjoy forza screenshot.
 
Forza I can understand, it was the best game of 2021 the other two franchises.... I mean... I dont like Halo Infinite because well it was shit and overhyped on features people are still currently waiting on, was alright but the multiplayer was just not worth touching...

Gears 4 and 5 have this weird Esports push that makes no sense and never materialises into anything. The multiplayer felt off for both those games and while I disliked gears 4 campaign I never even finished 5's I just noped the fuck out early on.

Essentially I use my Xbox for media player, gamepass and the odd game that plays better on the series X than PS5 (if I want to put my feet up)

Xbox is in dire need of some good exclusives because quite honestly it needs them, people mock the PS5 remakes and rightly so, but at least its got them.
 
I've never liked Gears because of how poorly the movement and gunplay feels. And Gears 5 didn't fix this, but it did add... crying in the cut scenes... the hell?

I've never liked Halo because I prefer DOOM-style weapons and shooters and dislike Halo's much less arcadey feel and boring enemies in PvE, and never liked the reliance on pistols in multiplayer.

I have grown tired of Forza's forumla. I dislike Motorsport because every single game gets repetitive after about five hours and I don't like how the cars feel to drive compared to Horizon. And I've played Horizon so much throughout the series' life that I'm simply burned out on game after game after game of grind grind grind grind to the Xtreme. The series needs a rest but they just keep cutting and pasting and popping them and their DLC out like Pez. Each game no doubt feels like a dream to newcomers, it did for me, waaay back when.

None of these are the games that drew me to Xbox, and they certainly aren't what's kept me here. Of the three brands listed by OP, Forza Horizon, while a bit hum-drum nowadays, is the only one that doesn't feel like a series out of its time, with antiquated design ideals and gameplay to boot.

The people who post here care wayyy too much about outside factors surrounding games and not the games themselves. I just like playing games and I think that puts me in the minority here because I'm not following devs around Twitter and hanging on every update or public perception of a game and franchise. Basically I don't care what you or anyone else thinks about a game. If I like it that is good enough for me and tbh should be for everyone else but the Internet and forums have given people this fucked up victim complex where they are owed something.

Forza is great, Halo is great, and Gears is great. Have fun with all of them.
 
My most anticipated game is Gears 6.

A lot of people here don't know how to play Gears, so don't listen to them.

Halo Infinite will be great once MS is done dragging it in the mud, like they do with all their games.

Forza Horizon 5, again hard to get into, but when it clicks, nothing like it.

I like Halo. Gears not nearly as much. Forza Horizon hasn't evolved enough for me personally. I played the hell out of Forza Horizon 3, but having a hard time getting the same passion for either 4 or 5. Motorsport doesn't interest me.

I'm looking forward to Fable and Perfect Dark though.
 
Halo Infinite didn't hook me but 5 was better than internet told me and 4 was what got me interested in the IP, and Forza Horizon 3,4,5 and Forza Motorsport 4,5,6,7 are all great, and I enjoyed Gears 1 a ton, never finished 2, never played 3 but liked 4 quite a bit and 5 a lot.
So no it's not only you 🤝

I just wanna sneak up on some guys and wanna blast em with gnasher close range. Never gets old when I play with friends. Or chainsaw them.

I do like it's campaign but the story eludes me.
