The Lords of the Fallen - Gameplay Teaser Trailer | PS5 Games

Definitely waiting for this one, I started playing the first game and was enjoying until I left the initial fortress, camera shaking movement was so badly done it made me feel motion sickness and couldn't continue, will appreciate at least an option to deactivate it

I played the first and never really finished it, might jump in to finish it before this release. I loved the atmosphere of the first, but disliked some of the map designs for some reason was getting lost. Man 2023 really going to be busy.

this will be a hardcore soulslike, made by a different studio and nothing like the first game. I hope. On my list

Dat NAME!! lol

I wonder if they'll remaster the first one in 4K or something, I also wonder why they choose this name.

semi OT
The lolz, this the first time I realized you could ignore by hovering over someone name in the alerts lolz (i'm late, I'm sure thats been a feature for some time)

Kind of a weird game to remake. The original game got scores of about 70% on each platform, and I dont think I've ever seen a game forum even talk about it.

It's hard to express how bad the original was without swearing, so I'm surprised this exists. This can't have performed well enough to warrant the IP being saved

Fextralife had an "active" forum for it (as active as it could get...), but they have the official wiki, so it could also be because of that.

A lot of cool designs in this trailer. I love the lamp that shows an alternate reality, very cool.

Seems they're leaning way more into horror this time around.

This looks way better than I expected. The first game was ok. Just ended up finishing cause apparently I have a fetish for soulslikes.

I'm a little confused, I remember the first one being made by the same people who made The Surge 1 and 2, and I really liked both games. This seems to be a different team, what's going on?

being developed by a different team than the original, and looks a lot better too, im hyped for it.

Deck13 and City Interactive parted ways after the first LotF, current game is developed by CI in-house.

Ah, gotcha. I don't think I've ever paid attention to City Interactive, no idea what kind of stuff they make so no opinion whatsoever. Hopefully, it's good.

Sniper ghost warrior is their most known series, otherwise they are just pretty low-budget Polish publisher/developer.

Is this a reboot or a sequel? I'm not sure. I remember the first lords of the fallen to be dogshit- iirc.
Its a sequel believe it or not. The original lacked a definite article

Hot take: Lords of Fallen, the OG one, was good and perfect gateway drug to Souls games.

It's also almost impossible to imagine that it was done by City Interactive games, if you ever had pleasure with their prior titles.

Artistically looks excellent.
The hit-stop/hit feedback didn't look good though, which is concerning for a game focused on hack and slash.

I always imagine the characters of Lord of the fallen to be the people that wear Baseball costumes or the "Botargas"

Taking place over a thousand years after the events of the first game, the upcoming dark fantasy action-RPG will take players on an all-new epic adventure through a vast and sprawling world, split at its very core between the realm of the living and the dead. An expansive RPG experience built specifically for PC and new gen consoles on Unreal Engine 5, players will need to traverse between the two fully interconnected worlds, each offering its own unique pathways, side quests, NPCs, enemies and treasures.

The trailer hints at only a fraction of the grueling journey that lies ahead of players as you explore this breathtakingly vertical world, over five times bigger than that of its predecessor. You will need to master fast, fluid combat, with a wide range of devastating weapons and powerful magic as you carve a bloody path through demonic hordes, undead terrors, and towering bosses. As for those who would rather venture the long and arduous road side by side with a loyal companion - you're in luck - as you'll also have the option to experience the game in seamless online multiplayer.

"Overwhelmed by the phenomenal response to our announcement trailer, we couldn't wait to reveal actual in-game footage of the concepts shown and put a spotlight on The Lord of the Fallen's thematic and quality"
said Cezar Virtosu, Creative Director at HEXWORKS.
"By developing exclusively for new-generation platforms, we're able to bring the full scope and detail of our dark fantasy vision to life and look forward to revealing even more exciting things come 2023."

A vast, interconnected world

Embark upon a dark and twisted land split at its very core into two parallel worlds. Only those with the hardiest of constitutions, the most steel of nerves, dare trespass into the nightmarish realm of the dead, where untold horrors lurk and everything is not as it seems…

This game is amazing. It has way better enemy design than dark souls better atmosphere darker better graphics landscapes if the gameplay is good will be as good or better game than dark souls.
I know some will say that it's a copy of souls game souls didn't invented knights and monsters or RPG elements.
They made it again more famous in a way.
Ghouls and Goblin was already a 2D souls game and many others before.
Finally more amazing souls like games which may even better than the original ones.

lol ok

Anyway, when we will actually stop ripping off games and get some new ideas flowing. It feels like a new 'souls like' is cropping up on a monthly basis.

a sequel? I thought they were rebooting it like the original never happened.
It is kind of dumb: people googling the name, probably often without the added article and landing on old mediocre scores and maybe already saying "next". If it this time not on a whole other level, no one is going to bother to educate themselves.
A "2" would have made more sense in a sequel but also in a reboot. (the) Suicide Squad, wii-u... wtf

Well its in the same situation as Star control: origins compared to the original series. The original developer (deck 13) retained the rights to the setting while CI Games was left with the IP. And CI games is now making their own version.

So yea you can see it as reboot. But in terms of function its more of a sequel.

I actually had a decent time with Lords during the early ps4 days and I was starved for Souls-style content. I wouldn't go back and play it again though...
It was WAY better than Bound by Flame, that game was a hot, steaming pile.

Draugoth Draugoth hey could you include all platforms in your posts please? :)

As otherwise many not following might think it is exclusive or the game is skipping a platform.

Lords of the Fallen looks genuinely great.

I was probably one of the few that finished the original game (granted I dropped it at launch, then randomly came back and finished it 5 years later when I was bored one time)
