Hogwarts Legacy Is Currently The Best Selling Game On Steam

I saw some TikTok on Twitter with some guy begging people to not buy or play the game and apparently it was getting passed around pretty good. This whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. To think that some people could have "friends" or even "family" getting SO upset with them for just playing a game they're interested in or excited about. It's really sad.

People that don't give a damn about JK Rowling or her opinions, but just love Harry Potter and want to play (what looks like) the best Harry Potter related game yet. But doing that makes them a "transphobe"? This is so insane.

If you don't want to play or support it, don't. But no reason to bash others that just want to play and enjoy something that makes them happy.
Yeah those people are crazy

I don't believe Rowling is using Harry Potter as propaganda to spread hateful messages to anyone, her opinions are pretty much her own(and how 'wrong they are is debatable, but there is no arguing anymore, just a hate bubble)

You don't want to play this game because of some misguided moral stance? That's fine and in your right, but using Hogwarts Legacy as a morality test to judge everyone else, including the LGBT community who may be interested on playing this videogame( lets face it alot of people will be buying this at launch) is rotten, the fact that so many people have convinced themselves this is the only right opinion thanks to social media is pretty crazy

I agree with Nobody as well, aside from his regurgitated NPC talking point about JK Rowling.

It feels like the game is just too good to be true. I will say my kids loved Disney Infinity back when they were little.
Disney infinity is Legit
so was toy story 3

Which is a social consequence. Agree or not with the consequence it is a social one.
Which won't happen if
Me saying trans women are women here isn't going to get me praise

It's fucking cultural fascism. And you wokes are happy of this particular shade of fascism, because it only hits your enemies.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't be supporting you losing your job if you say
Me saying trans women are women here isn't going to get me praise

"social consequence" is a bullshit excuse for violent subjugation.

I'll stay away from the cultural fascism topic cause it's political and politics is not allowed on here. It's over used by both sides in general . In regard to consequences for disagreeing. That's life, if I go to work and express my distaste for gay people I could lose my job because if we have gay clients it can make one biased to their work. I do belive in the right for a job to take action if someone doesn't reflect their views. As an agnostic if I went to work for a church and they found my post discrediting god I could lose it due to my views not aligning with theirs. Most companies are culturally secular and take a live and let live policy. If you views go against someone's right to their way of life, yes their will be consequences some places. Because being anti trans isn't a way of life but a belief that can genuinely affect how you might treat others. I'm for a policy of 2nd chances, if someone's view doesn't allign sensativity training, no change boot them. This applies en mass to, if a co worker called me the N word I'd rather them learn than fire them right away.

you didnt understand my point , im not talking about social validation or losing friends over my opinions , im talking about the consequences of accepting this kind of behaviour

watch this video and tell me if this is fair
And why should I care that it isn't fair? When was the last male cause that women cared and fought about?

They've never.

Choke on it, haters. I wish I could pre order the PS5 deluxe version, but debt sucks. I will get it eventually, but it will be a very long time, sadly.

i didnt understand the "when was the last male cause that women cared and fought about ? " , i seriously dont understand what ur trying to say here ?

if ur saying that we shouldnt care because women didnt care and fought for males then ur wrong , even if it mostly disadvantaje them and not us that doesnt mean that we shouldnt care

a 17 year old girl was taking a shower at the gym after workout and all of a sudden she woke up with a naked man in the shower area , she started panicking , she ran back to the shower cabin thinking she was gonna be raped , so you are a guy and dont care but this girl could be your daughter , your sister , its not normal for a naked man to take shower along side women

Yep be Trans if that makes you happy. I'll continue to play what I like because it makes mr happy.

The funny thing is nothing JK Rowling has said is Transphobic or hateful in anyway.

From the studio that brought us DBZ: Sagas and Hannah Montana. I'm gonna hold off for reviews before i do anything with this company.

You can bet your ass that the majority of Reee is buying Hogwarts, I can see the OT being so popular that the trans/mental illness lobby on the site throws a fit and tries to get it banned 100%.
Of course they will! Remember the hypocrisy of a prominent poster over there that was anti Cyberpunk for months and got several members banned?
Yet there they were day one talking about playing the game in the OT. Shame nobody was brave enough to call them out on it.

Bro, your hair is receding to the back of your head, it's time to let the skullet go. PS, get some sun and go touch grass in the process. You look a little famished.

We had a mod here before the split saying that straight men who wouldn't date trans women are transphobic. Evilore got into a public argument with the mod and eventually demodded them. Some people are beyond being reasonable and want to demonize everyone. It's bizarre.

Unrelated but lol @ this video about the game

Wait, was that the one that got other members of that site to pay for it for "research"?

The Sunset Overdrive devs made Spiderman. Studios hire new talent and get better all the time.
Oh come on for fuck sake. Sunset Overdrive is an amazing game, I will absolutely never understand why it's getting so much hate here.

It was an incredibly fun game, reminiscent of an arcade genre that sadly completely disappeared, this was some of the most fun I had in years. It's really your go to "here's an example of a bad game", seriously?
The visuals were (and still are) fantastic, the gameplay is incredible, I think most people who disliked it didn't even try to make use of the whole gameplay and just played it like a slow dead rising or something, while it can be played like tony hawk with guns.

I actually had a lot more fun on Sunset Overdrive than Spider-Man (even if I still enjoyed spider-man), because it's a lot less automatic, it requires more from the player, it's maybe less "cinematic" but that's definitely not what I'm looking for in games.

Comments like this really make me wonder, would you have loved spider-man that much if it wasn't a sony exclusive and a popular IP? Like, the exact same game, except spider-man wasn't known before, and it's not a sony exclusive. I'm sure many people would have ignored it and wouldn't be so positive about it.

Ok this won't be my hill to die on. I didn't play much of Sunset Overdrive. So perhaps you're right it gets much better. I was just making the point that any dev can make a mediocre game and turn around and make something critically and financially successful.

I personally never cared for Spiderman. Just a mindless repetitive brawler in my eyes but most people aeem to love it.

It require more from the players? Less automatic? What?

Dude you can win 90% of the encounters just by sliding in the phone cables on bouncing around and shooting at random with the ultra generous soft lock that take care of eventual shitty aim skills.

Spiderman on max difficulty is way harder than anything inside sunset, and i double dipped that game on xbox and pc.

They are both good games and that was not a good example but let's not act like sunset was not super easy or had deep gameplay.

The visuals were meh even when the game released, they were never fantastic in any shape or form and the art design for charas, city and enemies were as dull and generic as it comes unless you like orange blobs of various shapes and fortnite light style for the characters.

Like wtf is this?

Yes I believe "research" was mentioned. I'm sure he/she said it was gifted. I'd put money on them playing it on release and they'll come up with some bullshit excuse as to why. Contradicting everything they have been saying for months.

It's even simpler than that. Avalanche was a CORPORATE in-house studio who was only ever tasked with creating shovelware as advertising for Disney brands. They made what Disney suits told them to - with the budget "priority" to boot.

. . .and honestly, we've seen the game in action. It's not like this thing has had zero previews or hands-off demos. It could certainly turn out to be a wasted opportunity, but nothing I've seen from the game so far shows a lack of technical knowhow to develop a good game.

I didn't really meant the difficulty but more for the style and for the game to look good.

Spider-man free roam can look good even when you barely do anything, because it's really scripted, I was disappointed that you didn't have more "manual" control over it like in the older games. It really looks fantastic, I won't deny that, but it's not really "fun" for me as I feel like I can't really do anything special.

Sunset overdrive on the other hand totally depends on the player to look good and fun, because yes, you are right, the game isn't difficult and you can win by just doing the bare minimum, like in spider-man, but if you do so, the game is actually very basic and you're really not enjoying the full potential. When I first looked at videos of Sunset Overdrive, I never expected the game to be so fun, because it looked slow and not that fun in videos, but when I finally played it myself, I realized all you could do and it's much more fun when you're moving around quickly, playing it like a fast paced game and really having fun with the gameplay. I really love arcade fast paced games, and in Sunset I really found something back that I rarely see in any games these days.

There are a lot of games like this, where you don't "need" to use all of its potential to beat it, but when you do, it's a lot more fun.

I didn't find Spider-Man hard at all, even on the maximum difficulty, but Sunset isn't harder at all either, I won't disagree with you on that. I just had a lot more fun on Sunset Overdrive because of the amazing traversal gameplay, the great level design of the city and its super colorful atmosphere, it was a real joy to just move around and do scoring on all the challenges and such.

I really think the game looks amazing as far as I'm concerned, I love the look and the colors, and it's so rare to see this type of art style on a AAA game, it's usually only in multiplayer games for some reason.

It is the exact same with spidey, both traversal and combat, not sure what spidey game you tried where the game play itself tbh.

agree to disagree i guess, i was way more involved in spidey combat than going up and down a telephone line shooting blobs without even aiming precisely for the majority of time...

Even Ign knows its gonna be a huge event and cant be ignored any longer. Probably the first hogwarts legacy video they have done thats not trailers.

Looking at IGN they've given as much free advertising for the game as they could without do having done a preview or some cringe YouTube "50 Things I'm Looking Forward To" video. Same with Gamestop. This idea that corporate games media has outright ignored this game for fear of pushback is just not true.

For sure your have the more boutique editorial rooms with more independence pushing back and not covering the game, but that was always going to be the case.
