Elden Ring absolutely shits on Forspoken. It looks great despite its technical shortcomings. Forspoken looks awful.

Also - and this might come as weird - everything looks better in screenshots/stills, in motion though...it's a whole different thing, In my 140 hours playthrough, not once did I say "wow ! This sure looks brilliant" like I did when I first entered hemwick charnel lane in Bloodborne, or, having triggered the horse and cart cutscene that take you to Cainhurst castle, or, the ever decaying streets of Yarnam, or, the absolutely beautiful final encounter with Moon presence , or, the various decaying castles, dungeons and countryside in Sekiro.

Anyway, opinions and all lads, I'm gonna stop jacking this thread since it's not about FROM but Forspoken (which frankly, I don't give a ratt's arse about 😁).

Despite everything, I'm still vaguely curious about it. I loved Recore and other janky, critically trashed games of this type.

But I also have a feeling that if it is a big flop, it will never come out of Xbox anyway.
 
I liked the demo but I expected 70 ish. Its right now even a bit lower.

Ofcourse, the writing and dialogues are rather terrible and the open world does look bland like FFXV did. Its also undeniably janky. But i am curious. I liked Heavenly Sword etc too. And the recent Sonic Frontiers I even completed. Maybe I like sort of janky, unpolished experiences.
 
No one can ever say shit about the series s or switch after the ps5 is pumping out 720p in 2023.

Resolution never bothers me. I play switch all the time but this game is a technical mess and it's exclusive so there is no excuse here.

Seems like the Polygon reviewer wanted the game to put more emphasis on her blackness and the downsides of it in the game's version of "our world".

I can't say if she's poorly written yet but I can say I find the way she's written to be on the annoying side(what I've seen so far).

My brother in christ, the series S would render this game dynamically between 180 and 360p at 30fps.
 
And yet I'm not remotely moved or bothered by the reviews. I already knew this would be something I would want to try and could enjoy, but that others might not (unless it was some graphical master piece). I'm still a day one.

Legit, I took like 300 screenshots in Elden Ring last year. This is the most STUNNING game I've played in a long time.
The vaiety and DETAIL in the locations is incredible.
And after vrr patch dropped on ps5, the 50-60fps is finally smooth.
I know it isn't anything crazy technically but holy fuck man. Elden Ring is incredible looking.

It would probably have a faster fps.

Personally, I would never brag about the PS5 running next gen only games at 720p (or Series S games at even less). Expect more, expect better. We spend our hard earned money on these consoles and these games. We deserve the best.

Curious question, has anyone pinged Gary or Amy on Twitter over the writing to get any comments or inside baseball on how exactly they contributed to the writing? Like did they just write the world and lore like with GRR and Elden Ring or did they write the entire thing?

I do NOT hate this dialogue and actually find it refreshing and fun. It's not trying to be overly serious oscar bait, and I think that's a positive and works for the vibe of this game. Different views, yea, but I welcome dialogue such as this. Not every game should be too serious and it's okay for main characters like this to basically behave the way a normal modern person would probably act if suddenly dragged into a strange world and then had some sentient cuff speaking into their mind. It helps ground the concept.
 
Least shocking outcome ever. This always looked horrible. I feel like Square Enix is exposed in any new IP, because without nostalgia based praise (looking at you Final Fantasy) their lack of ability is completely laid bare and people just aren't as forgiving.

This is how I see it (before playing the game mind you).
If people played FF7 remake and expected serious environmental drama... ooof boy, that game cringes hard and it's so fresh feeling :p Which is a weird thing to say about over 20 years old game

The dialogue, while tired and limp, isn't the problem, it's the atrocious delivery. The poor scene direction and animation also doesn't help matters.
