People weee trying to say that no one knew when the marketing deal ended and people claiming it was 2024 were just making that up. MS confirmed it now.
But we knew this last year, why were people saying otherwise?
Separately, Microsoft said it has committed to Sony that popular franchises it acquires from Activision Blizzard will remain available on PlayStation under Activision's existing deal with Sony, and that it has offered to extend the deal on a "multiyear basis." The existing deal with Sony runs until 2024, Smith said.

He was comparing Gamepass with PS Plus.
I didn't say anything about swapping anything.
That $280, that he could spend on 4 games on the PS5 aren't going to be available on Game Pass. No guarantee for that. When it comes to third-party, that is basically a case-by-case thing, and as I said, only first-party MS games are guaranteed to be released on Day 1. For what you are saying to be true, the game pass library would have to promise him the same thing and any title whatsoever.

When @Ass of Can Whooping sees the Xbox logo to play cod

That's you with the PS logo and the scary part is....you are serious.

allowing more people to access cod and more games on nvidia and Nintendo platforms.
You know, I'm wondering when Activison have to go to court if they are asked

"you have made games in your franchises for Nintendo before, why would you not make CoD for Switch without this acquisition?"

what their laughable response will be.

It almost sounds like the deal will actually increase competitiveness within the market, allowing more people to access cod and more games on nvidia and Nintendo platforms.

Plus it will make Sony hungrier to develop a cod beater or some different games.

I get more games on game pass and that's all I care about but I genuinely don't see how it is bad for anyone?

All the games launch on even more platforms for at least 10 to 15 years. I can't see a negative right now?
I never got the argument of this allowing more access. There was nothing stopping Activision from putting cod on Nintendo consoles in the first place. They have in the past and took off as they were unsuccessful. Are Nintendo fans really asking for it?

Also never understood why Sony has to be the one to be hungry to find the "cod beater". Why can't MS just develop a better ecosystem/ games that draw people in? The amount of money MS is pissing away to buy a publisher in which they get all the games already is a complete and total waste.

In the short term, are consumers really hurt by this? I would say not really. It's pretty much status quo. However I don't think there is much to gain for us either and I do think in the longer term is could be VERY anti consumer.

How exactly would it increase competition? Be very specific.
And keep in mind that right now COD is released on pretty much everything that can support it. What is this mystery new demographic that Microsoft is going to help them reach?

Unfortunately I don't think this deal stops from happening based on my lack of faith in regulatory bodies. Which fucking sucks.

On the other hand this has exposed Microsoft to be exactly who I always thought they were. Throughout this whole process their play dumb responses, and all the revealing data, has just reinforced that I cannot ever trust this company.

That the ROI isn't high enough. You find that kind of thing hilarious?

One more thing about Brad's threats. If I was a regulator on the fence I would surely not be on it after his comments. It's weird how they can't help themselves.

No but it would be hilarious because they are suggesting it will reach 150M people but not even a fraction of those people must be interested if the ROI isn't high enough. Meaning they are releasing it there simply to get this deal done and not because it's viable or wanted much.

I guess promising something you know you won't get a ROI on is better than $3B in termination fees.

I can see Nadella having ABK team replace Phil's team.
I'm sure they arent planning on jettisoning Activisions management. Doubt they would just dump all their existing people though. Over time as they integrate I can see it being Activision heavy though.

It's probably his article, probably received death threats over it.
Na he got a twitter mob of xbox fans on his ass so nuked his account to make it stop.

This was the shit he was replying to with that

He said in jest that's the article he's likely to write when it does.

How is it bad for everyone?

You mean in 10 to 15 years?

Yes, the same shit people have been throwing against the wall for years with GamePass. And before that, it was being flung against the wall for years with EA Access. Just a bunch of conspiracy theory nonsense.

In 10-15 years (or longer) MS might one day maybe raise the price of GamePass or maybe potentially lock games behind it or maybe lower the quality of games and drip feed content out blah blah blah.

A great 'I didn't mean exactly what I said' apology and an added I have good friends who play on Xbox.

Doesn't make what he said any less stupid, but yeah, pretty much. Of course, his first mistake was posting on twitter. Seems to be a lot of tension in the gaming tweet-verse.

Guy was being attacked on all fronts on twitter. I didn't know Xbox's fans could be this toxic.

It's a minefield right now.

Geoff asked if COD on Switch would have price parity (as in be $70 like on XSX, PS5, XB1, PS4) and somebody replied with this

Tweet didn't even have anything to do with PS 😄

People are so emotional now, can't believe what I read sometimes is written by adults, reading Twitter gets me flashbacks from when I was a kid and argued on the school yard about how awesome Commodore 64 was.
When did console gaming turn into religion?

Xbox and Playstation fanboys on twitter can be equally rabid. Biggest difference is that Xbox execs actually engage with some of these people.

smh twitter was a mistake.

Serious question, with some of these guys behaving as they are currently, what happens if the deal doesn't go through? Is there somehow a level beyond what we are currently witnessing?
