that is not about ABK, it means MS is under scrutinity for ALL their CLOUD

What do you mean "All their cloud"?

There has been and is a number of various investigations re Azure. It's typical done in bit parts and about specific concerns.

In this case, this investigation is around one specific potential issue.

As part of an informal probe, regulators are quizzing competitors and customers about how Microsoft may be abusing its access to business-sensitive information belonging to cloud firms it has commercial dealings with, according to documents seen by Bloomberg.

EU antitrust enforcers want to know whether Microsoft then leverages such confidential information to compete with cloud-service providers on the market, said two people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Previously there was concerns about teams and licensing costs.

This is going to be an ongoing concerns for Microsoft but it's going to be about specific concerns.

Holy shit everything just slammed in reverse... thought we were headed to 100% deadsville haha

This doesn't negate the CMA's decision so.....

It may actually bolster the CMAs case, as EU see cloud gaming market as a separate market with these concessions.

Mere disagreements between the regulators whether this deals are sufficient to address concerns doesn't seem like something that would help them in an appeal.

if we're reading the remedies correctly - it's pretty brutal for MS in terms of market growth and revenue with something like free license use.....
  • A free license to consumers in the EEA that would allow them to stream, via any cloud game streaming services of their choice, all current and future Activision Blizzard PC and console games for which they have a license.
  • A corresponding free license to cloud game streaming service providers to allow EEA-based gamers to stream any Activision Blizzard's PC and console games.
Is there a timeframe for this? is is unlimited? it really hinders MS's cloud growth with this remedy

it would be great to get more detail on this

Yup, Just because the EU was bought and paid for into approving this nonsense doesn't mean Microsoft is good to go lol. It's been blocked in the UK and the FTC has challenged the Dea as well. Last I checked they need ALL the regulators to approve it not just a couple lol.

The remedies nullify Microsoft intentions

This deal is not only dead but the definition of unattractive to Microsoft now imo. Especially when you consider the fine details (100% of the profit) of the contracts Microsoft were handing out. Nope. I'm not Idas or Hoe Law. But I read and I'm not selling hope and cope.

Its two very different topics if you dig into the article but it is the lamest clickbait in the world.
Microsoft's Xbox business would never be associated with clickbait on Bloomberg, this is a business that is currently tolerated at best by investors.

Look how the share price went up when CMA blocked the deal. Xbox has zero correlation with MS's share price right now, if any.

The Commission's decision is conditional upon full compliance with the commitments. Under supervision of the Commission, an independent trustee will be in charge of monitoring their implementation.

and free license for all Activision games to all cloud providers?
Does this mean they have to give up on their profit margins over the cloud streamed games?

Microsoft I wouldn't say has disputed the cloud gaming market definition too strongly.

I don't think the appeal is likely to be successful, I don't think it's any more or less likely with this EC decision. They obviously would have like the EC to not have created it as a relevant market.

I think MS was fine with the free cloud license, as long as they kept 100% of the microtransactions. Wasn't that the deal they had with all these providers already?

In the past 2 weeks, internet was finally talking about "games" again. Now this shit is back again.

Most boring acquistion for games you can already play and nothing new will be seen from them in general.
