It's been done since the CMA first blocked it, IMO. Will be interesting to see if MS goes for another extension.Well, it's pretty much a done deal, so there isn't going to be any 'new' news. People just seem to be hanging out in this thread until the whole thing wraps up.
Cant imagine de degrees of delusion someone has to live in to think that THIS xbox administration is going to revive old games from ABK and improove its game output in any way shape or form ...There's not a single chance Activision makes sense as a $70B aquisition if they aren't firing CoD on all cylinders.
Ya'll wanted Activision, Ya'll are getting it. It's CoD. Raven ain't going to be freed to do shit other than work on CoD. And you better love it
There won't be another extension after the most recent one. If the deal cannot be closed before 18th Oct then acquisition is dead. It's been done since the CMA first blocked it, IMO. Will be interesting to see if MS goes for another extension.

It's hilarious to read posts saying that MS will bring back Space Quest or Quest for Glory just because they have such a good heart and good intentions! (Even if it means losing money because only a few dozen care about those games - I would love those games back, but I'm realistic)Cant imagine de degrees of delusion someone has to live in to think that THIS xbox administration is going to revive old games from ABK and improove its game output in any way shape or form ...
Something already has, now MS are trying to negotiate. The only way I can see that happening if something goes wrong with the CMA. Which I doubt.

Nobody was saying Persona 5 isn't a good game or shouldn't be praised but the reason it's coming up in discussions 7 years later by people affiliated with xbox is for exactly that reason.Imagine being so far into console wars that you think the only reason people praise Persona 5 is that it came to Gamepass. It's not like it's one of the most acclaimed JRPGs ever made or anything.
Now, some news, for a change and breaking the topic trend

Is there a reason fuck would be in there? was someone supposed to have said that during the hearing? If this is a joke wooosh, i'll go grab it from the wall behind one sec.
Exactly, especially as Persona 5 is one of the most cutscene heavy games released in existence. The point is that you can't complain one has too many cutscenes when the other also has way too many cutscenes. And no, Persona 5 doesn't have better cutscenes lol
It wasn't brought up by somebody affiliated with Xbox though. The conversation started with complaining about a pro Xbox podcaster. I simply jumped in to point out that in no measurable metric is FF16 the better game, while agreeing that it is perfectly fine to enjoy FF16 more.Nobody was saying Persona 5 isn't a good game or shouldn't be praised but the reason it's coming up in discussions 7 years later by people affiliated with xbox is for exactly that reason.
It was brought up in an xbox podcasters show so how was it not brought up by somebody connected to xbox/gamepass? when I say affiliated I don't mean hired directly or a subsidiary. It wasn't brought up by somebody affiliated with Xbox though. It was brought up in this thread as an attempted "gotcha" moment against a Xbox podcaster. It's right there for you to read. I don't even know what video or podcaster is being discussed, I just jumped in to comment about the claim that FF16 is the better game compared to Persona 5, mostly because Persona 5 is one of my favourite games of all time.It was brought up in an xbox podcasters show so how was it not brought up by somebody connected to xbox/gamepass? when I say affiliated I don't mean hired directly or a subsidiary.
The question is why are we making this comparison between these two games in the first place now? That's the question you should ask yourself. Then you can ask yourself if "too many cutscenes" is a valid criticism and should apply to one game and not to the other, which is far more cutscene heavy.
The question is why are we making this comparison between these two games in the first place now?
Just wait until Hellblade 2 starts getting trailers. I've already been told multiple times I'm a hypocrite if I end up liking it. I just need to stop engaging with that stuff, but it's hard sometimes. It was brought up in this thread as an attempted "gotcha" moment against a Xbox podcaster.
It's like Yakuza, it's riddled with check marks, excessive cutscenes, it's third person, really wants to be cinematic, no customization, average mechanics, open world but it's always the same map, been around since 2005, 14 years before it came to Xbox… and now… you know where I'm going with this.
Listen MS buys Sega and gives Shenmue a reboot/remake full on budget, triple A and I'm buying the most expensive Xbox, the most expensive Xbox controller, the most expensive Gamepass subscription, I'll buy a t-shirt, shit I'll even… buy Halo Infinite deluxe or whatever it's called at full price. Fuck I'll buy Redfall.
Listen I'll go on X and start xing about #xgiving
Motherfucker I'll buy that pizza controller and eat it on live stream. I'll go viral.
Because that podcaster critiqued FF for having too many cutscenes yet wasn't critical of P5 for the exact same thing. It was brought up in this thread as an attempted "gotcha" moment against a Xbox podcaster. It's right there for you to read.
Which game is better to who is always subjective so I'm not here to say otherwise. For somebody who hates a game because of "too many cutscenes" though P5 shouldn't be the game they have a different opinion of unless that wasn't actually the real reason they didn't like the game. I think a lot of these comparisons come from brand association, that's all I'm saying. whether that's P5s recent release on gamepass or FF16 PS5 exclusivity. Not saying the comparison is invalid or anything.I just jumped in to comment about the claim that FF16 is the better game compared to Persona 5, mostly because Persona 5 is one of my favourite games of all time.
But really, why care about the comparison being made? Both games are in the same genre and one was just recently released, doesn't seem odd to compare them.
But Shenmue fucking sucks tho
Yakuza is already a superior Shenmue.
That's my guess. Personally, I do think Persona has too many cutscenes. I find it boring. But I have played visual novels before that are nothing but text "cutscenes." Maybe the dialogue in one grabbed him so the cutscenes didn't feel too frequent, and in the other game he didn't like the dialogue? Maybe it was the story? Maybe it was the setting? Maybe it was the pacing, or the action gameplay not gelling well with the passive cutscenes? I just find it easier to let people like what they like and assume they're not lying.though P5 shouldn't be the game they have a different opinion of unless that wasn't actually the real reason they didn't like the game.

I'm reading through it still, so far:Does anyone have a TLDR of that pdf? Are we near the end of this?![]()
They already have. That's why it's pending review until August 29th.I'm reading through it still, so far:
MS have not yet provided a solution for CMA to consider.

Let them have their false hope. This is a transcript of the CMC that happened around weeks ago, this is not new information.
CMA have since then said they will have a provisional draft ready by the 9th, meaning they have something to work with between then and now.
This transcript shows theirs a two prong approach where they want CMA to close up the old deal and be presented with a new one which CMA may still reject if similar to the old one. This is a transcript of the CMC that happened around weeks ago, this is not new information.

All of this is old news ... and has been actively re-hashed multiple times since the hearing ...
It's new to me, I didn't know MS were considering divestment as an option and there has been a lot of misinformation going about here where people thought CMA are bending over for Microsoft or even that they've accepted a deal. All of this is old news ... and has been actively re-hashed multiple times since the hearing ...
Clearly you haven't been paying attention to the thread - this was one of many news articles regarding divestiture options MS and CMA were discussing prior to the hearing:It's new to me, I didn't know MS were considering divestment as an option and there has been a lot of misinformation going about here where people thought CMA are bending over for Microsoft or even that they've accepted a deal.
It is all still factually true, rather than based on people's memory until now, but I agree it is redundant info because the judge was given satisfaction behind close doors - no pun intended - meaning that the order summary was all that remains that didn't hit the cutting room floor, and without coverage of him reasoning what he received to agree to cancelling of the judicial review appeal, we have no read on where things stand, other than it looks like the CMA are fully bent over to ignore the three SLCs that arise from Microsoft gaining ownership of Activison/CoD.All of this is old news ... and has been actively re-hashed multiple times since the hearing ...

The summary is that MS have offered a new deal to the CMA, if found similar to the old they will prohibit it by the end of August and the deal would be dead. CMA have only gotten involved again because they had too, not because they want too.It is all still factually true, rather than based on people's memory until now, but I agree it is redundant info because the judge was given satisfaction behind close doors - no pun intended - meaning that the order summary was all that remains that didn't hit the cutting room floor, and without coverage of him reasoning what he received to agree to cancelling of the judicial review appeal, we have no read on where things stand, other than it looks like the CMA are fully bent over to ignore the three SLCs that arise from Microsoft gaining ownership of Activison/CoD.
Nah. It's highly likely to pass, but theirs still a chance for failure. It could go either way, depending on what the new deal entails.
I wouldn't be so confident, the CMA aren't ones to be bought so the deal offered by MS would have to be really good/different for them to change their minds.Nah. It's highly likely to pass, but theirs still a chance for failure. Just a small one![]()
