Hellblade II | The Game Awards 2023 Trailer (Releasing 2024)

Honestly, I could not tell if the guy with you in the game was real. Watched that part over like 10 times and still cannot tell.

Bro, can you make GIFs of that dude in the game at 1:25 and1:41?
Dude looks almost photo real.

Scripted one-on-one fight in an empty black void, scream at camera for a few minutes, rinse and repeat. Who the fuck has such an easy life that this is the escapism they are after.
Bro, when the first game came out on PS4 and only PS4, everyone was gushing over how great it looked and how well it played.

Also would like to know how you are getting that that is the only type of combat form 1 minute of gameplay.

Personally, I thought the 1st game was a little boring and frustrating. Mostly frustrating and Mostly because I sucked at it.

Good graphics showcase, feels claustrophobic and it looks on-rails for the most part. I think it will be more of a graphical showcase and less gameplay.

Yea it's more about atmosphere like the first game, I just want less repetitive gameplay this time around. Maybe it'll be similar combat but just less often..Kinda how AW2 is compared to AW1

I am honestly baffled that people think this shows any promise beyond a graphics showcase. And that so many people are still wooed by graphics above all in this day and age, for that matter.

It's a sequel to Hellblade. It looks like it plays like Hellblade.

Seems appropriate for those who liked Hellblade. Seems like it's going to be something that again frustrates those who want but don't want a game like Hellblade.
Well said. Its a slow plodding game with gameplay not really requiring that much skill. Its all about the overall atmosphere and the main character's psychosis. Much better than another dark souls clone at least to me.

Well even despite the atmosphere, I couldn't finish the first one due to the repetitive and boring gameplay loop. I even tried in VR a second time but it made no difference.

All I ask for in this is more variety.
My wife lasted like 3 hours before she quit the game out of boredom.

It looks and sounds amazing, but the gameplay loop definitely looks like it needs more.

If it's the same as 1 then this is a hard pass for me.

I've enjoyed the first Hellblade so I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully they'll confirm a physical release soon since I'd like the game on my shelf next to my Hellblade copy.

My GF started it on her own and didn't really like it until I told her to wear headphones as it's so much more immersive and important to connect with Senua's demons. So when she did she really got engrossed and actually finished it which is a fucking feat for her let me tell you.

No need to be patronising. But it's clear this game is made to virtue signal and win progressive points rather than to have broad appeal as a game.
There is nothing resembling virtue signalling in Hellblade. NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA. "It's clear".. Wtf with the idiotic nonsensical assumptions.

I'd like to see some actual gameplay, hard to judge anything from the trailer. If the combat is anything like the first game, meh.

Just watched it again.

Mindblowing visuals.

Absolutely, incredible visually. Can't talk on anything else but at least it will be a visual feast and delivers on the original trailers!

Looks like genuine CG graphics.

Yeah, the same PS360 CGi level

I am fairly sure that I told her to go with headphones so she did it. I think her main issue was in how repetitive the combat was, she finished GOW and GOW:R, so I know she's not against action games.

I hope that they take the opportunity to improve the combat in this one. It really has potential to be a "Sony style game" for MS.

Sure but do the visuals really take all the manpower though? They obviously already have more than enough know-how in that area, they made the original on a low budget and it was one of the best looking games released back then.

Good visuals is like THE area I'd think they'd be able to work most efficiently.
Best looking for art-direction, true. But Hellblade was pretty rough around the edges. It was clearly developed by a small team.
But Ninja Theory games have always been rough around the edges with great art-direction.

I can imagine them having to work their asses off to polish Hellblade 2.

It was serviceable for a low budget indie game, and the focus back then was not on the combat but rather everything else about the game that felt very unique (setting, themes etc.).
Agreed, although I think Hellblade had easily one of the most realistic combat in gaming.
It might have been simplistic, but it was raw and personal. It just needs more fluidity.
And the puzzles were pretty bad, although also serviceable given the restrictions.

True, but I think it was deliberate as the game was intended to make the player experience mental disorders and complicated puzzles might be detrimental to the experience.

Same might be the case with this game, but you never know.

Graphics are out of this world. It lookks to be the next ryse though.

I mean, how many years since this was announced? And still see minimal gameplay. I'm pretty sure it'll be all looks little substance (gameplay wise, dunno about story).

This is a sequel to a well received game that was nothing like Ryse.

What is 'virtue signaling' about either the first game or this one?

Yeah, seems like an easy pass on this one then.

It will be more of the same and I imagine low to mid 80s review score. Which will be inline with the first.

Don't fall for this, bro.

Game looks identical to the first in tone and content.....so, yeah...just don't bother. lol

Because that's what really matters

Hopefully, it does build on the first and surprises us in places but this looks very familiar but with the graphics turned up to 20.

Lol ayo NeolkaruGAF like 98% of the posters on this board are absolutely retarded. I miss the 90's web from back in the day.

'Mental health' is one of things pushed by 'progressivism' where everyone has some mental health condition or other, everyone is encouraged to be miserable or wallow in whatever condition they have this week. Look at how brave she is, dealing with all her multitude of issues! No thanks.

The first one was well received, this has a much bigger budget and they've long since said they've put a lot more focus into combat and feedback on the gameplay this cycle.

We'll see, but 'Ryse' or 'virtue signaling' claims are weird

Yet you still post here so what does that make you?

Yes everything is that black and white..."the game is based around Senua's deteriorating mental health it must be woke!"

You're coming across as a dolt bro

Visuals look amazing, better than HFW (though not by a huge margin despite not being cross gen).

I think Ninja Theory is ass at gameplay and I don't care for the mental illness main character of Senua.

And yet the vaaaaaaaast majority of games out there don't dwell on that theme, and the first Hellblade was released in 2017 well before any 'woke' pandemic.

You're grasping at straws here. Perfectly fine for you to give it a pass if the themes don't appeal to you without shitting on the work

I didn't use the word woke at all. You're coming across as someone like the other guy who can't bear dissenting opinions so has to get rude.

Incredible how long this game is taking to release.

They just announced it too early. It's like if GTAVI was announced when it was 1/3 of the way done, the wait would be even worse. I guess if you want top of the line graphics, this is just the reality of game development. Devs that release game after game are releasing carbon copies of each other when it comes to visuals.

You didn't need to use the word I can read what you're saying. I'm sorry for calling you a dolt but I find your viewpoint pretty baffling. Mental health is not just a progressive thing at all it's a real issue some still just don't want to talk about. Look at school shootings all over the US and the male suicide rate is crazy high. Hellblade doesn't push anything at all, but it tries to convey to the player what's it's like dealing with severe mental anguish and does a very good job in my humble opinion.

this game remembers me of Callisto Protocol, its looks great, but plays like shit, combat is at the same level of boredom as the first game.
