Xbox Series X is $339 on BestBuy via the BestBuy app’s Drops

I'm starting to fear that HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 is right and Xbox will be stupid enough to release their new console in 2025 now. And just blow up their current gen console.
Haven't you heard? There are no longer generations with them. So it will just be another Pro console, but a new gen at the same time, depending what day of the week the access media shill's script will be on.

Please no, I just bought one, haha.

Maybe if they did actually do that they could use the next gen box to break the parity clause with Series S and only release cross-gen on Series X and whatever the new one is called (probably not but a guy can dream)

I want all the chaos for 2025

If these discounts don't move a significant amount of units nothing will. This is the strongest piece of hardware you could buy for > $350 in the market nothing comes close in this form factor at this price. This is cheaper than some RTX 4060s alone which the series X trades blows with or exceeds, the difference is that you are getting a whole ass system instead of a single component. For an equivalent 4060 system you would need to buy a case, a psu, a cpu, ssd, mb, ram, and cooler all of which alone also cost more than the Series X and if you get them to match in price then they are shit tier components.

I'll say what I said in the other thread. X should be $229 and the s $99.
Tgese sale prices on the x should have been a year ago but they bungled even this situation because they thought stargield would be a system seller. Their console sales are downright pitiful at this point. Just use that financial might and sell these sucker's for crazy cheap prices.

Why are you experiencing fear?

Because if MS puts out a new next-gen console in 2025 it means they'd have to throw in the towel on the Series S and X in 2024. That would be HORRIBLE! The Xbox brand would take a huge hit! That's not good for the industry. Plus, there's no way they can have enough games ready for 2025 that's next-gen only.

What's the point of selling a lot of consoles if they can't recoup their money from them? You can only sell at a loss so far. At some point software sales aren't going to make up for how much you're losing on every console sold.

I think they've sold too many Series S consoles to do that though. There would be a lot of angry Series S owners.

Why would that be worrisome?
I suppose two years from now that wouldn't be worrisome, but dropping the price by %40 and throwing in 3 months of a free subscription service within its first 3 years could show that its having an extremely hard time moving hardware. That's not good for a platform that already has low software sales.

But you are also paying for the limitations that comes with an locked ecosystem. That in itself is what makes these price comparisons between console and PC a bit bizarre. if this were a windows PC then it would be a valid comparison, but it ain't.

Where are you? People getting series esses for $150 they're still listed as 249 everywhere I look.
Someone got one for $138 on Friday. Looks like it's gone back up now.

Eh, I'm all for great sales discounts but at some point you do end up de-valuing the brand. A $99 Series S is clearance rack stuff unless there is a required 12 months of Game Pass purchase with it or something.

Supposedly some folks have found XSS for $150 at some Costco stores as well.

What would you compared it to? The PS5 certainly doesn't provide $160 worth of performance over the xsx

Phil admitted that the Series S and X was losing $100 and $200 per console in 2022. We have reasons to believe the Series X was the one losing $100 per console at a MSRP of $500. Now it's $340 with no node shrink.
And yet their revenue went up 9% this quarter...

You sure? PS5 seems to be selling quite well without a $160 discount so it seems consumers disagree with your assessment. Regardless, that is still a much better comparison than PC. They are like products and in direct competition.

Never been a better time to jump into the new gen.

GG at folks scoring consoles at this amazing price.

The point is, people buying into your ecosystem which would add game, accessories and most importantly for xbox, gamepass sales. People buying in with a steep discount are more inclined to spend on their following purchases. These new sale prices should have happened long ago but they overestimated Starfield and can't make CoD exclusive. They're looking to pivot here by possibly starting next gen early. Start adding customers now. Any way you can

The oddball mental gymnastics you do with everything Sony related sure is a spectacle.

From "mid-gen console" contortionism to now this.

I believe it's the retailers getting a big supply for November, expecting it to be sold out, but it didn't so now they are clearing inventory on that miscalculation.

This sounds about right. That November black Friday was crazy rough. Time to get these out the door. The question is.....do they fly off the shelves and how long does the deal stick around for.

I was strictly referring to the performance of the hardware, which is what eNT1TY eNT1TY referred to in the original post I responded to, which is to say that at $330 nothing out there would perform better when it comes to playing video games.

But clearly they don't have the consistency and games the mass consumer's want, thus it's irrelevant. Hell, look at the lowly spec'ed Switch.

That's an incredible deal.
They get the money back from xbox.
Some retailers don't pay anything until after they have made a sale (Best Buy model).

I just checked my local BestBuy, It's $399.99 here in the States. How do I get this 339?

Through the BestBuy app.

Bullshit. You just said "The PS5 certainly doesn't provide $160 worth of performance over the xsx". I didn't even bring up PS5. I just said comparing PC and console pricing was bizarre.
