Not that big of a deal. The devs said they'll fix the issue with the anti-cheat. I'll just wait for that.

Yesterday, I was eyeing a Helldivers 2 key on a discount, but decided not to. Didn't want to possibly get burned on a pre-order.

So they added anticheat to make sure people can't get MTX stuff for free, thereby preventing people from buying the game in the first place. They need to act fast or this game will lose a lot of potential.

I had one crash on PS5 last night when trying to change my helmet which kind of reminds me of the issues Returnal launched with, with its' special costumes. I played two missions solo and those went fine.

Exactly, Easy Anti Cheat runs in Kernal Mode too.

The difference is that when uninstalling a game it will not remove Gameguard in case you install other GameGuard games. People try to fearmonger as if it's some lurking malware that tries to hide on your system unless you edit registery files but that's also bullshit. You can just get an uninstaller from the official FAQs

Everyone I know who is playing Helldivers 2 is having a great time when they can connect.

Matchmaking and server woes won't last forever so HD2 is certainly a much better purchase than suicide squad.
 
That's what I expected when I saw how high it was on the charts. Was anyone else thinking that the matchmaking would be able to handle the amount of preorders?
Also people can blame cheaters for the amount of kernel-level anti-cheat software that exists.

Oof, that's not something they will be patching out any time soon. That's a pretty big deal actually if correct. Potentially an attack vector on anyone using this.

what a dive to hell in reviews, expected though. Seems like rocksteady, dontnod and arrowhead studios will be gone by the end of this year, layoffs in gaming is already rampant and no reasons for any investors to keep holding their heavy bags on these studios.

because its EA, it also crashed on me a TON, it also ran like absolute shit till they patched it. Felt like a memory leak issue

This shouldn't be necessary. When you are uninstalling software the expectation is that it will be uninstalled.

To leave potential spyware on the device just in case some other game may use it in the future is complete BS.

A customer shouldn't have to jump through hoops and download other dubious software to clean this shit up. It's ridiculous to defend this.

It's not spyware and I'm not really defending the separate uninstall. just saying that this isn't a "rootkit" any more than other anti cheats like EAC which are also kernel level. You also don't need to edit registry files to get rid of it if you wanted to. You can uninstall it easily.

Played last night on PS5 and had a blast. Matchmaking issues are a problem but no other dramas on there.

Steam reviews are always a shit show on day one. I wouldn't take any notice of them.
 
Played it for 90 mins over lunch. Solid as a rock 100fps, maxed 3840x1600. No crashes or hitches.

I keep all of my dodgy files on a NAS so a rootkit on my easily cleaned PC is but a minor concern to me

I'm looking forward to playing it at some point. You just came off as a fanboy is all. I haven't said a single negative word about the game.
 
Anyone on PC having the game crash every time you press O to open social?

Is there a fix?

Just trying to redo files on steam, hopefully that helps

I'm not sure what the origin of the source is but it's mentioned in a few mod sites, maybe the original source is that MMO forum? I personally don't have LA Noire to check, it was just an example of a game that used gameguard somebody might have already installed. You can replace it with other games that installed it like PUBG if it makes a difference.

L.A. Noire uses GameShield not Gameguard. I don't know what the difference is between them though.

Nothing on steam forums comes up and the listed drm is game shield. I have it installed still for some reason but dunno how to check, its not in the "programs and features".
