Wolverine narrative lead leaves Insomniac for CDPR

Maybe they got a big fat signing bonus and raise.
Oh of course! But I still don't think it's worth jumping to negative conclusions until we know anything for sure.
CDProjekt RED is setting up an in-house North American operation for the development of Orion, the Cyberpunk sequel, and its very likely that they're looking at poaching as most senior talent from top NA developers as possible - and Insomniac are certainly among those top-tier studios.
Mmm hmm, exactly. These things happen. I just think it's worth waiting to see how things pan out before raging about hypothetical outcomes.

the writing team for cyberpunk orion worries me, i don't think cyberpunk 2077 had the most amazing writing ever but it was at least semi competent

She could be cool, you don't know.

I feel Orion is probably one of the best game to accept LGBT character. With the cyberpunk theme, it can work well.
But I have 0 confidence in the current woke developer to be able to do it well.

Of all the games I've played, Harry Potter was the only one with good LGBT and diversity. But it was hated by the woke community.

The last thing CDPR need is someone from Insomanic, even more from the narrative departament(something CDPR excels). Nothing good will come from this.

I remember that Stevenson dude that was always here in posts.....think he was an Insomniac Community person. What happened to him? Did he leave here for the site of purple and rainbows?

Oh boy ....

Thankfully, there hasn't been a shortage of LGBTQ developers over the years. We have seen incredible talents coming from the minds of people like Maddy Thorson, who created the transgender character, Madeline, in the game Celeste, Cathryn Mataga, a transgender programmer and founder of the independent video game company Junglevision, who worked on X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse as well as Spider-Man 2 and also D.E. Chaudron from Larian Studios, a queer and nonbinary video game developer who worked on Baldur's Gate 3 - to name only a few.

Kenney echoes this evidence by saying "There are so many LGBTQ developers, and we want what players want - to design experiences that tell the player we're here, we're important, and we belong." This could become increasingly difficult as we see more and more pitches turned down amid one of the worst years ever for gaming. However, Kenney remains adamant that something has to give way to allow change to happen.

"We need to pull every lever we have," Kenney says. "Characters, community support, mechanics, to make it so." It's a subject she's clearly passionate about, and her insights are thought-provoking.
🤕 oh no CDPR what are you doing?

This reminds me when someone is new to Photoshop and wants to use all the available filters in their works, the final results is never pleasant.

I hope they don't to insane with wokeness like some of these studios lately have.
CP2077 had LGBTQ characters which weren't just shoe-in the story for the sake of having them there.

CP2077 already had it, it's to make sure Witcher moving forward has it inclusivity shoehorned in. Mark my words, Geralt WILL come across a black woman witcher, and of course will beat the shit out of him. Clear as fucking day.

Have you seen what they have done to Jean Grey?

this, with how woke Spider-man 2 is, they're dead Jim.

They're targeting this :

You....you are joking about that being Jean right? Right? I dont like Jean but come on....really?

Seeing that shit made my eyes water.

Well, this doesn't bode well for CDPR game's storytelling and characterization.

Remember kids, friends don't let friends pre-order games! 😉

BG3 was overall pretty good as well in that regard.

Look at the first 8 responses to the post. Up until Cyclops gets punched.

If someone said "I'm going to post about the narrative designer from Insomniac leaving to go work at another studio. How do you think gaf is going to respond?" This is about how I would expect it to go.

Let's disregard the circumstances of WHY people react that way.

Let's pretend CD Projekt is not taking steps to become a "modern-audiences" company. This is another one.

But given at how much woke, DEI garbage Insomniac has put out recently, and has openly said they are going to do with this dumpster fire game, is it really a surprise to you that there would be comments like what you have seen? Mindsets like that going to other studios only perpetuates that mindset and output elsewhere.

all i know is, i have zero expectations for wolverine. even minus the dei crap, i just don't see the character being in insomniac's comfort zone. santa monica studio, maybe...

Concern trolling at LGTBQ representation in the Witcher universe when you can make a case they're all a bunch of sexual degenerates is kinda funny. Well, I guess the L part of the acronym is fine for some as long as they're fuckable.

I should point out that I wasn't directly sharing an opinion on the content of the responses themselves. Just the predictability of it.

A reminder that Mary Kenney jumped on that 'you can't be racist to white people' racist viewpoint in support of Kotaku's Alyssa Mercante tweets.

Am wrong though? Since the 2016 I think there PS games have sold well and reviewed above 8.5 with critics and users

But no, Insomniac is destroyed

There will always be that market that eats up the Superhero trash from Insomniac and other devs, so implying that we are saying they are "destroyed" is disingenuous.

The fact that their entire product schedule (from that leak) all the way until the 2030's shows you that they have become unoriginal and boring and just want to keep making the same shit over and over just with different characters. That's a whole other topic, but back on topic to what's being discussed here......anyone with an objective eye can see how much the DEI, and woke bullshit has taken over Insomniac's recent releases. You can look at other Sony owned studios too and see the same trend (SSM, Naughty Dog, etc...), so is the problem Sony pushing this directive out to their studios, or is it that the studios all drinking the same rainbow colored kool-aid?

IMO, western gaming these days (with rare exception) is trash. If you want to play something that is fun, escapes reality, and doesn't go out of their way to pander to the crazy colored hair people, stick with games that come out of Japan studios.

I hate woke politics, but when it comes to games I dont really give a crap tbh. If it bothers me that much, Id turn it off and I dont think Iv had to do that to any of my games have compared to TV and movie etc.
I really didnt feel it in GOW and apart Abbey being stupidly/comically muscular, I didnt even notice the other woke stuff in TLOU2, lol. It flew right over my head.
It will all balance itself in the end, sales will go down or something else if they mess up more.

When it comes to superhero trash, Ive always been a Super Hero fan. I always wanted a great studio to do an Xmen game, Spiderman etc, so I have zero complaints as long as they keep making Ratchet and Clank and maybe a new ip. When it comes to Resistance all I can hope for is a Remake one day by another studio. There output has been great too

oh please no, keep Insomniac`s DEI infestation under quarantine....
Insomniac is particularly political what with their being in Burbank, but unfortunately this problem was never and will never be something you can easily isolate. Bioware is a country away and is just as bad, if not worse, and was heading in that direction a long time ago.

Progressive ideology is dominant and entrenched in educational institutions, collegiate academia especially. This goes for everywhere in the western world, and increasingly elsewhere. There's simply no way to hire new people without hiring from graduates of said institutions.

All that can be done is enough financial failures and enough time to go by where these people start to get the hint that they ought to keep their terrible politics to themselves.

Yes, because being against regressives who push and celebrate racist concepts is a bad thing?

The wealth disease hits CDPR. They think they have to appease these people to maintain their status as a AAAA developer. Expectations for their upcoming releases are now firmly beneath the trash can. I hope I'm wrong…
