I'm just glad the narrative here isn't the dominate one because I love Insomniac and the games they are pumping out. Sure I thought the homo prom thing was stupid but I would have thought it was stupid even if it was a hetero couple.

I'm not as interested in superhero games as I used to be, unless they're doing something very novel but, well, I don't that'll be the case with Wolverine. A want a superhero gaming equivalent of The Joker (2019) or The Penguin, something focused more on adventure, story & drama rather than just combat with skill trees, or where the only story is in a lot of cutscenes.
I know that'd be a challenge and a risk for AAA superhero gaming but, it would be a nice refreshing change.

I actually think they did Spiderman traversal and some of the gameplay well in terms of representing the character. Its such a shame then that I found I got thoroughly bored swinging through a city (in which I'd far rather be driving or flying through) and as you say combat with combo skill trees. Maybe with Wolverine it'll be better simply due to the change in character. I've lost heart after Spiderman 2 though...

Unfortunately with AAA game dev getting more expensive systems will continue to homogenize, so I'm interested to see how Insomniac keep Wolverine from feeling like a Spiderman game in adamantium skin.
I guess. But, ND's storytelling style is too depressing IMHO, if TLOU2 is the direction they're steering in. Stuff like The Joker ultimately had a sense of optimism to them, even if the sequel completely ruined that.
Similar for The Penguin, tho ATM I'm torn between Oz and Sofia; I want them both to succeed but also want Oz to show me why I should be smpathetic to him over her after that last episode.
That ain't gonna take away the sting of the SM2 port, or the likelihood ports are going to be 1 year staggered at best and probably even Day 1 within a year or two.
Still got a gut feeling Death Stranding 2 is going to be a Day 1 Steam drop. I mean, great for Steam players of course, but that just makes PlayStation look like that much worse of a deal.

That's basically a death sentence for any game now. Especially since, Kim Belair the CEO of SBI is on record for making incendiary statements about white people and white male gamers. That's pretty stupid considering this demographic is a major source of revenue generator for the video game industry itself. Word travels fast within the gaming space.
And for the people thinking that Insomniac is untouchable, can't do no wrong, and is invincible from failure, there are countless game companies out there that once was in great shape with a sterling reputation are now dissolved or in great trouble. Rocksteady was once a darling of gamers, especially after the Arkham trilogy, now look at them after numerous bombs.

Because we know it was alpha gameplay, alpha is when you are trying things out, gameplay systems mainly, no story is in place at all, most of the artwork is placeholder (most probably comes from spider man), it's for testing. Even in beta a load of artwork can still be placeholder/not finished along with any other spit and shine (this is why doing a trailer for an unfinished game can take a lot of resources because those sections of the game shown need to be polished)
Look at Horizon Zero Dawn alpha:
An alpha (especially a leaked alpha) is in no way representative of the final game. Could it still be shit? Of course it could, but judge it with the final game, or at least an official gameplay trailer. So, no denial, just being realistic instead of knee-jerk 'looks like crap'

Well, yes , creating vertical slices of polished graphics/gameplay takes a while to do if your game is unfinished. With Insomniac they don't want to miss a puddle out by accident or something do they?And what does "gearing up" mean? Is showing a trailer or some gameplay that laborious in 2024? Do we need a hero montage?

It helps to take a step back and zoom out in perspective. Don’t catch yourself in a lengthy 15 post argument with someone who most likely will just aggravate you and come back the next day saying the exact same talking points.
I have a belief that one day this community will move forward and improve to being mostly about video games again, but it’s going to take a lot of time and something else that I won’t point out. We need to get past this American election season first and foremost because that’s having the biggest effect.
