Black Myth: Wukong has sold 10 million copies across all platforms.

Monkey Mono GIF by Alguna Pregunta Més?

As of this writing, there are 2.3M players on Steam. I assume PS5 is probably in the neighborhood of 400K? Then the rest is Epic and that other platform whose name escapes me.

If this remains true of the total number of copies sold, Steam makes up around 77% of the sales. Likely anywhere from 7-8M sold there alone.

Crazy numbers, I was asking a few people about this as I'm now in FOMO mode, but heard the constant monkey noises and the bosses making noises is super grinding in peoples nerves! Anyone have this experience? Or can it be reduced turned off??

That's actually insane. This game's been a massive success. I'd figure if the sales ratio matches the CCU one, the splits are something like 8 million PC/Steam, 2 million PS5 globally for the game.

Anyway, congrats to the team; I'm curious how they try following up on this one. Maybe a take on War & Peace?

No. 10M sold but when they were posting this, there were 3M players online, including 2.3M on Steam.

Yeah PC by far is carrying the load of the sales for this game, tho considering the vast majority of copies have been sold in China, I guess that kinda tracks.

PS5 is probably 2 million, 3 million max out of that number. Still pretty decent all things considered, but would track with stuff like FF XVI in such a case.

Wait this game's on EGS?

There are also players on Epic (probably not significant) and another seemingly popular platform in China (could be significant), but I can't remember its name.

I'm tempted to get this just to see my new 4090 in action. But my backlog!!!!
Just started playing Cyberpunk on PC for that reason.
Me too, but I really need to play games I already purchased. I'm trying to get through those now. Tonight I start either The Last of Us Part 2 remaster, or start FF16 again.

Steam's top CCU for this game is a bit over 2,4M, which i guess is what they count, and by the "data as of...." they mean the sales will obviously change and even the CCU might go higher this weekend.

so 3million concurrent users across all platforms

2.2million+ are on Steam (73%)
which leaves 0.8million on PS5 + EGS + Wegame (27%)

I don't think GTA6 beats these numbers.
GTA V made $800M on its first day alone. This suggests well over 10M copies sold. By the 3 day mark, it had made over a billion which could be over 13-14 million copies. I think GTA VI can exceed this. This might be the most hyped game ever.

That platform you're thinking of is probably WeGame. Had to look it up the other day. It's a Steam competitor owned by TenCent.

Resetera comments are top notch as always

Most gamers do not even know of the supposed studio culture practices.

But it's funny how when MS were buying ABK, the forum's top brass had no issue letting people push ABK's studio culture toxicity out of sight. Heck, some of them even actively encouraged downplaying it under the impression MS would "save" ABK from themselves.

Yeah I might have to revise down my PS5 sales #s for this game. Assuming it's around 8 million on Steam, PS5 is likely anywhere between 500K - 1.2 million of the remaining share.

EGS doesn't do well with B2P sales IIRC, but I'm not gonna underestimate WeGame too much here considering even if it's the "EGS of China", that's at least a few times more sales than EGS proper would bring.

So beside gta5 this game sold the fastest? Damn, hopefully we get a cultivation AAA game sometime because of it's success.

This is definitely going to get everyone's attention. I can't imagine anyone not launching on PC day 1.

Nintendo literally doesn't give a shit (Wukong pushing them to do Day 1 PC).

Microsoft already does it and will probably do more PC timed exclusives going forward (Ara, Towerborne, Gears Tactics, Flight Sim etc.)

Sony's partly doing it with GAAS titles but the advent of LEGO Horizon going PC Day 1 alongside Until Dawn remake might suggest they're trending in that direction for games in general.

We'll see what's the case with Death Stranding 2 😶...

I'm not at all convinced that Nintendo doesn't give a shit. They have potential for universal appeal across the planet, including China. Things change.
