Black Myth: Wukong has sold 10 million copies across all platforms.

Resetera comments are top notch as always

So the person who did the initial translation for ign about toxicity in game science, is a lgbtq+ her/him from singapore, with #freepalestine X.

Let's just say singapore and china mandarin are culturally very very different even if it's the same language

Now im skeptical about her/him translation

There's a massive cost of living difference between a studio in china and a studio sitting on a beach in santa monica, US salaries are weirdly super high in general, probably because of all the extra tertiary costs you have to cover yourself over there.
I live in major european metropolitan area, yet I don't know a single person who makes more than €65k; my last job was at a software company with ~300 employees and they needed a director for something and it "only" paid 70k.
Yet on linkedin I see US posts regularly talking about 100k+ salaries regularly 😵

That aside, when studios tally the total number of people who were involved with project, it's not all staff; when capcom made RE5, their osaka studio which developed it had about ~140 people, yet nearly 600 people are credited for it, a lot of these are just temporary contractors who contribute maybe a single thing. It's not actually 600 people on salary.
The bulk of super high budgets we see come from studios being in areas/cities with top end living costs.
You should know that more and more Europe is viewed as third world from the perspective of USA and Canada. The salary difference between US and your country is currently nearly the same as the one between your country (UK, France, Germany, not many differences) and, say, Morocco or Tunisia.

Fucking crazy man. I thought this game was gonna be VAPORWARE.

Not only is it actually real, but its out, it good, and is one of the fastest selling games of all time.

What a fucking surprise

This is going to be one of the best selling games of all time and anyone who thinks millions haven't/won't sell outside China is an absolute moron. It's the beginning of a new dawn for game development and as a debut from Game Science, Wukong knocks it out of the fucking park.

(Look America is great if you're rich no argument but numerically rich people are and always will be the minority.
The trailer parks, the ghettos, the fentanyl, the healthcare costs, the student debt and Louisiana don't lie.
The Netherlands can copy America just fine and scrap everything that socialism has worked for in the last 150 years. Ask yourself why it doesn't).

On topic I don't understand the hate boner some people have for this game. It's the Chinese Kingdom Deliverance. I am happy that they can make games and stick to their own vision.

Cost of living matters more than salary.

Ah yes, because ResetEra always shows its love for women by

*checks notes*

wanting biological men to be able to use all of their safe spaces, and beat them at sports.
Don't forget cheering like school girls for ubi "sex scandal" soft games.

Clearly making jokes about women is more acceptable than harassing them in the office.

All due respect, no.
140 devs (not including support teams) and 5 years is absolutely AAAAA or whatever. The only difference would be the rate of payment to the devs, which would be cheaper just by exchange rate and local wage levels.

I also do not think this game is so high in quality to put western or Japanese devs to "shame". The reviews certainly haven't illustrated that picture, and the massive success, real though it is, seems to be dragging people along a hype train conflating its success with quality. Even it's financial success is under different standards to everything else; all of a sudden, the Chinese market has showed out for a game that reuses the some of the aesthetics and all of the gameplay conceits from a previously established foreign franchise/"genre", where they only showed up for Gacha shit and Honkai-bait before.

I really don't think the Chinese game market deserves our sudden respect because of one example.
The game is pure quality and clearly a labor of love.

Modern reviews are trash, ign scored dustborn only one point less than wukong and the 2 games are light years away when it comes to quality and you still trust what these cunts think or say?

Read this fine comment over at Reeeeetardera: Someone talk me out of refunding the game. Not because it's not fun, but the fans of this game are so insufferable (the incel, anti-woke mobs) that I feel dirty just having the game. So this fucking idiot actually bought it, played it, enjoyed it and now has to ask this question:D They are fucking braindead and brainwashed beyond any help over there.

1. I take it on a case by case basis.
Nobody distrusted them when they slated Anthem, Redfall or Concord, etc as they have.

2. I'm not talking about scores here, I'm talking about what's actually said about the game. Wukong might be a very good soulslike, but it's nothing we haven't seen before or so unique in quality as to put its contemporaries to "shame". That's all I'm saying.

I don't think anyone has ever said that tbh.

Even people who are putting wukong as their goty never said that it does thing better than everyone else or it does new things at all.

It's just a good ass game made with care and passion.

Is that right?

Say... why not tell us how much your health insurance is a month?

Actually no... don't. The rest of us might laugh ourselves into a (free) heart attack.

Typically $100-200/month paid out of pocket by employees (2-3x for family coverage). It's insignificant compared to the astronomical difference in wages for skilled workers. Taxes are lower, too.

He's not wrong about the stats. As far as overall quality of life, Europe has a lot going for it. Building wealth, not so much.
