Dragon Age: The Veilguard is Currently The Top Preorder on PSN US and UK

This game looks like a major bomb. Less than one week before release, it's still outside Top-10 Amazon ranking

Other major releases this year were in Top-10, 3-4 weeks before release date (Dragon Ball, Silent Hill 2, Space Marine, SW: Outlaws, which still turned out to be a flop)

Why is everyone so interested in the next major bomb all time. Gaming has turned into a weird thing.

"I think this will bomb." "Me too" "Me too." "Me too."

"Its gonna bomb" "Me too" Me too"

"I told you it was gonna" "me too" 'me too"

"Haha" "haha me too"

It's been going on for years. You have the people who want things to fail and the people who want to use failures to make their favorites look better so there are countless people at any time of the day ready to comment.

I personally like a good fail when it's deserved.

Its 20th-ish in the global steam top sellers. I don't think this game will bomb, but it probably won't be a hit either. I expect somewhere along the ballpark of 1-3 million sales in one month.

Interesting to see if the game has legs, but this is early encouragement for EA as it stands:

Not sure if this is the same for Xbox or not, but wouldn't be surprised if it is.

Looking at the games in the top 10 of those charts I don't know if that a good thing. It's the only so called Triple A game releasing in the next weeks, and the other AAA in that list (which is in 2nd place) it's only releasing in 4 months from now.

It would be very concerning for EA their game douldn't beat a bunch of indie or VR games and a few remasters, two days of its release.

Maybe more people than we think are interested in seeing how much DEI there's in there when the game releases and reviews start popping. Is there only one scoop of DEI, two scoop? Maybe just a sprinkle, so it's ok to buy..

Lol, tbh that's what I'm waiting to see and then I'll make a decision if I buy or not.

If the reviews are good, its gonna jump forward a lot on every charts. Most people are cautious with this one because of biowares track record in the past decade.

I just like following and talking about games. Good and bad.

You're on a forum you know?

This one needs to hit a big score not to bomb IMO. A Metacritic mid 70s low 80s type deal and its sunk, just like Outlaws.

I have no dice in the game in dragon age. Didn't even play inquisition although had planned to.

This looks ok to me, nothing glaringly bad. I can ignore the top scar stuff, I don't really care about it. I don't like that you can't seemingly create a "thicc" character from what I'm hearing, but these are things that are not overly important.

The graphics and gameplay look decent enough, no idea about the story. I'll wait for reviews and maybe pick up on a deep sale but I'm nowhere near being a day one purchaser for this franchise.

The brain rot of culture wars. It's the social media experiment ultimate result.

Been on forums for decades. People can make observations without being patronised lol.

People have become way more intense and obsessed online. Always looking for negativity. I dont see it as a good thing

It's so weird and dumb.
"Everything I don't want to play should bomb". Fuckin stupid.

Unless it is massive franchise, which I would argue Dragon Age isn't in the year 2024, then it will sink or swim based on word of mouth and reviews. Pre-orders really dont mean shit, as they represent such a small fraction of gamers

I don't see it that way personally.

Take this game for example. Developer has a poor recent track record compared to what we are used to, the game doesn't seem to resemble the IP its based off much and at a glance looks to be filled with DEI nonsense.

Im not looking for it to fail, hopefully its great then i can stick it on my to play list but as it stands things don't look good, in my opinion of course. Id love to be proven wrong.

There loads of games on the horizon that have positve buzz around them.

I think that kinda speaks to EA picking a smart release date that avoids most big AAA releases of the year (also helped by MS delaying Avowed).

I think this game is going to be polarizing either way (Bioware games always created some sort of backlash, starting with Mass Effect 3).

Indiana Jones and Halo shortly for the PSN folks.
Horizon Remastered too (which is showing up in both top 10 lists).

Horizon remaster is in top preorders? Must be a slow month on PSN.

All Joking aside looks like thats the major stuff out of the way now COD is out. Surprised theres nothing big in November really, unless i missed it.

Yep, basically this. And also the fact that it seems EA/Nu-Bioware took a franchise that had a fanbase and shit all over it.

First game was a classic and the rest has beeen getting worse and worse. The new one just doesn't look good at all, hence the expectations. Nobody is cancelling the game, people just don't want to buy it.

It's a sequel to BioWare's best-selling game and was in development for 9 years (although to be fair it had a few different iterations) so I assume EA spent a lot of money on this game. I feel that EA sales predictions are probably high. Veilguard will most likely do moderately okay, but I don't think sales-wise it will be such breakout hit as Inquisition was and it probably be below their expectations

Yeah for this game to be 20th on global top sellers is terrible for what was a PC centric title at one time, not to mention the amount of money it must have cost.

Good. I hope it is good and does well as I have enjoyed the franchise so far. If it sucks I hope not too many people waste their time and money on it.

it was you?
Nope!

If you must know it was that Hbomber guy. Not the most masculine guy admittedly (Not that it matters). I can't get over Lukes Staggering lack of self awareness.

He talks a bunch of ill informed bullshit as well which I always hate. E.g. he was one of those idiots that uncritically ran with Concord cost 400 million to develop narrative.

For PlayStation .. we all know what kind of people PlayStation players are....

Gotcha 😱

It's not a general thing - a desire for "the next major bomb." It's specific to this game. Some people want it to fail because they see it as woke. They want woke games punished by failure, so that companies steer away from wokery in the future. If you look at the games people are celebrating having bombed, it is usually connected to that animus.

I don't like woke shit myself but don't care whether this game succeeds or fails. I don't expect it to bomb. It's part of a well-known, well-liked series, and the combat looks flashy enough to draw in a lot of people. I expect it will do okay - not as good as other DA titles, but it will limp along all right.

The vast majority of store trending games pages are as genuine as social media trending stories and streaming site trending content, the lists are fake and handpicked by corporations. The only store page you can actually trust is Steam because Gaben is not a disingenuous piece of shit like the rest of them

How is this game doing on Steam? They track preorders?

What's the summary? Listening to a dude talk into a camera for 15 minutes about how he didn't get a code is kinda eh.
I did see his preview and he seemed very jazzed about it, so that's surprising he didn't get a code.

Also I think this game will likely have a meh launch and its success will rely on word of mouth.
I anticipate it will get buried as being some DEI trash, which is good for me as it means it goes on sale faster. IMO it looks quite decent, but I'm not fan of the purple (not for DEI reasons, it just looks like it caters to some mobile gamers).

I've consistently been saying I don't think this game will bomb as hard as people think it will.
That being said, all these "Game tops the pre order chart on PSN" topics for this and other recent games aren't really relevant because there isn't much else coming at the moment.

Look at the actual pre order list on PSN. It's a bunch of indie games, some smaller scale JRPG's, some remasters, life is strange, Farming simulator and a couple of bigger releases which aren't coming out until next year (Monster Hunter, Yakuza, etc). Topping the pre order charts at this point in time isn't comparable with, say, topping the pre order chart back in February when you had to compete with a bunch of high profile releases.

Good for you.
If you care about it so much, all of you should act on it in real life, not just talk about it online.
Having projects fail isnt gonna do much. Thats not gonna change the dr bodymorphing a child… So many woke projects have failed, millions and millions lost, probably billions. Movies, tv, games, music, fanbases etc etc.
The DEI/woke projects with such a deep iceberg isnt gonna be eliminated by just voting with your wallet unfortunately
