'Virtuos' to port Elden Ring: Definitive Edition to Switch 2

Are there really people out there that are waiting on a Switch 2 port to finally play ER? Camt imaging playing ED in handheld mode so I guess I just don’t see the allure.

I'll laugh if the third party porting studio can make ER run at locked 60 fps on Switch 2 with almost-PS5 detail level
Oh man. People are really expecting this? Switch 2’s gonna be no more than $400 at launch, because it’s Nintendo. And because it’s Nintendo it’ll need to make a least a small profit per unit sold at launch. What do people think the specs are going to be?

It looks and runs great on Steam Deck. Truly.

I think there’s lot of people who own a Switch and no other modern game device. Maybe some of whom maybe have had one for 6-8 years and maybe weren’t old enough for something like Elden Ring in 2018, but would be maybe interested in it in 2025. 🤷‍♂️

There’s always a market for years-late ports of huge games like that on new hardware. I don’t see that changing. Like Witcher 3 and RDR 2 and Skyrim, I think it’s just gonna be one of those games that never dies.

Anecdotally, I’ve played that game for like ~90 hours, and seen like maybe 60% of it.

Imagine depriving yourself of one of the greatest games of all time for almost 4 yours only to play it on a Switch 2, lmao.
Played it in on PS5 and put about 20hrs into it, then just stopped.

Wouldn't mind picking it up again to be able to play it portably (esp a complete edition). Not sure if/why that's hard to understand for anyone 🤷‍♂️

If they are truly going to brand it as a "Definitive Edition," usually that implies that the DLC will be included, though they'll probably also release it on other consoles at the same time if that's the case.

In terms of Nintendo-exclusive content, history suggests that it'll either get some exclusive items/costumes (probably Zelda-themed) or nothing.

Nintendo stans are the goofiest dudes on the planet, lmao

Nintendo got it last, don't you think they deserve extra content

I hope for Link's tunic and master sword + bow of light plus real additional content, new map, new bosses, etc

Come to think of it, there hasn't been much in the way of Switch 2 game rumors. It's all just been the hardware itself. This might be a first.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
There’s this rumor going around that Nintendo’s gonna reveal the Switch 2 either Monday or Tuesday, both days I happen to be at Super Nintendo World.

So what I’m trying to say is that I’ll be sure to get great first-hand Switch 2 impressions for you guys while high-fiving Miyamoto.

Have you played any of From Software's games before?

Just curious how much Nintendo-only (I'm assuming that's what you are going by this post of yours) console owners are into their games.

here's my From Soft games collection

And you didn't know that DS Remastered on Switch, was literally the 360 PTDE (not the then current gen version of DS Remastered on PS4, Xbone and PC, even though the fanbase prefers the original's artstyle), with the internal res up to 1080p and an (almost) locked 30 fps (even in some stressful areas like Blightown), online summons/invasion player count up to 6 players now instead of 4, but with the SAME framepacing issues all From Software games are infamously known for?

Literally no Nintendo platform specific content. From Software do not do that, and does not even allow that from third party outsourced teams.

It was also done by the same studio that's been rumored to do the Elden Ring port here for Switch 2, Virtuos.

We still can't even get a stutter free experience on PS5 ...Fromsoft's handled this game badly despite record sales. No Pro patch either
I think their desire is for the team to move on and focus on the next game, whatever it is, vs keeping never-ending resources on a 3 year old game. It’s finished with Shadow of Erdtree. That was it. Game is done now.
