Baldur's Gate 3 is getting a PS5 Pro patch. Anyone who knows me, knows this is my favorite game, so I'm making a thread about it.
Buy this fucking game.
It's easily the GOTG and possibly the best game ever made.

Well Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 comes to my mind.
I'm not kidding. In act 3, when you get to that one town, the performance absolutely tanks on most CPUs. Gamers Nexus has used it as a benchmark for quite a while, and it is usually telling. Like, no CPU gets out of that unscathed. Yes, this may very well be an artifact of the custom engine Larian uses, but I don't see how Pro having a marginally better CPU will improve things much. Maybe it'll run at a higher resolution, but as far as the framerate goes, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Think of it as turn based diablo + choose your own adventure + outstanding character performances. It is really good, probably not the best game ever made but makes a strong argument for top 10-top 5

CPU's are less relevant these days, they don't even benchmark framerates off CPU's anymore, these days it's all about the GPU.

It's a great game, but not everyone's cup of tea. I recall there being a 2-hour demo, but 2 hours is incredibly short for this game. Maybe try it out before buying.
There's the small CPU improvement plus increased bandwidth so it could be a bit better, but we're obviously not going from barely 30 to 60 in the stress areas. I agree that it doesn't matter that much, my 11600 was also dropping in the mid 30s at launch and it didn't stop me from enjoying the game. In most of the game, even in act 3, performance was fine other than those specific streets. I'd be happy not having to deal with FSR2 on PS5 when I eventually douple dip.

It's not a JRPG. What you do actually matters in the story, and you can end up with wildly different outcomes depending on your choices. Some of the seemingly trivial things you have done may have serious repercussions much later on. When it comes to combat, think X-com. As a simplified explanation, it's turn-based, but also tactical. So it's not only matching $ELEMENT that's harmful to $ENEMY, but also your positioning and movement in the battlefield. Using the environment to your advantage. Doing all kinds of crazy shit, like placing some grease on the ground, and shoving your enemies to their death. You can get so creative with it.

Isn't this how GPU benchmarks go? Use a high-end CPU as to not bottleneck the game, test GPUs. You'd need a CPU benchmark where all CPUs are at least above 60 to prove your point and even then it won't be true for all games, such as BG3.
Once you complete it - the "Dark Urge" origin story. One shouldn't do that as the first playthrough. But after that, oh yes. It's honestly a completely different experience. And you can go all in on the evil (and you should).
