INDIANA JONES New Egypt Gameplay Demo

Graphics during cutscenes look quite good, especially Indie/Harrison Ford’s likeness.

Gameplay, on the other hand looks bloody rough so close to launch, frame rate seems all over the place, and what’s with this…

…but that’s Microsoft’s new digital model isn’t it, release it broken for GamePass (they always have to have that big November game, regardless of whether it’s ready or not), then patch it later (maybe).

Less linear than I was expecting, I kind of dig the almost Dishonored feel, like wide-linear stealth action. Also those transitions from first to third person are smooth as fuck.

The visuals here look way worse than the trailers/screenshots which is very disappointing, was hoping itd be a graphical showpiece given that first person should be way better for inspecting artifacts and tombs up close in detail, but i am really glad its more focused on exploring rather than combat.

Gaming part looks bland to me. But what I like in that video is that cutscenes and acting are like straight from the movie, nicely done, esp that last snowy part.
Yeah they nailed the look and atmosphere if nothing else. The locations, character models and such look top notch.

looks rough to me.
Maybe i expected to much. But those are some low settings graphics?
Looks insanely dull at times. But Egypt is often not that easy to do for games.

Well, were gonna see how this turns out. Not my kinda game anyway. Hope its for those who like the setting.

Looks interesting, between this and BO6 I'm getting some decent value out of Game Pass for a change this winter.

I don't like the switching from 1st person to 3rd person (around the 3 minute mark). They said they wanted it to be 1st person because they want you to BE Indiana Jones, but that switching ruins any sense of immersion. Do I need to watch him struggle to climb his whip for 10 seconds in 3rd person just to jump to a ledge in 1st person?

I just can’t relate to the people wanting another Uncharted/Tomb Raider generic third person action shooter out of this. One of the warriors even said it should have Batman/Spider-Man combat 😆😆😆 By the way, Spider-Man combat IS Batman combat.

Love the slower approach.
Love the stealth.
This - 100%, who the hell wants to play another tomb rider with different skin and story (this is what uncharted is at its core), also don’t understand people about complaint there is not enough shooting -do you really want another 3rd person, cover to cover shooter? This is not splinter cell or uncharted. It is very interesting take on Indiana jones game, fist fights look much more interesting in first person. Spiderman combat is shit, Batman games are much better in almost every aspect compared to spider man but I still think if they would go that way it would have been a mistake.

Damn, kind of surprised on the comments. This was never going to be a game changer but it looks fun. Variety of environments looks cool and it does have the movie’s feel.

I will agree something is a bit off on it but I’m still excited to give it a go.

This looks like a neat game, I'm just not sure about great Indiana Jones.

I understand that Indy is not Uncharted, but I don't gel with the gameplay vibe. It feels basic, because basically it's Wolfenstein TNO with shooting removed. Melee is just passable, stealth is just outdated. The atmosphere is nice, but the visuals are kinda uneven. Plus I don't like constant jumps between 3rd person and 1st person. Either dedicate to one vision or don't half-ass it. It worked kinda ok with Riddick, but this trick is just outdated IMO. This all is strict IMO of course, If you enjoy it - godspeed.

I think it will score around 78-82 and will be yet another divisive rerlease of 2024.

I don’t think there’s a bigger forum troll than D Demigod. I wish the ignore worked on reactions too so I didn’t have to see his nonsense. The very sight of his name makes me gag. Depressing entity.
Calling a person out like this without context is weak. Grow up.

It's even worse when you call out someone else, because you are confused.

“Indiana Jones needs to have combat like Marvel and DC superheroes”

Michael Jordan Lol GIF

laugh all you want, the only thing that’s laughable is the first person combat here and it’s sad the usual crowd is of course defending it like it’s brilliant. Unsurprising

I am not talking about super powers and lightning bolts

Im talking about a relatively grounded combat system that’s punchy, involves crowds, good use of the whip and other environmental elements to provide a better gameplay experience

I've been quiet on this game since the original reveal, mainly waiting for this kind of video to come out so I can figure out what the core loop looks like, and.. I'm still kinda undecided tbh.

The perspective switching during platforming is honestly a weird decision, and sometimes vertigo-inducing for no discernable reason (look at the transition when Indy pulls up to a ledge).. No idea why they did that when the platforming doesn't even look that intense.

No idea what is up with the framerate, but the art direction does look quite gorgeous though.

Last thing I want is another 3rd person action adventure game with Batman combat. Ive played that game a thousand times already.

Last thing I want is a first person Indiana jones game where you hear him mouth breath around barren environments spending hours doing basic stealth introduced in the early Ubisoft games.

You’ve already played the new Indy a thousand times already. It wasn’t fun then, it certainly doesn’t look fun now

Thats exactly how this one looks like. Multiple enemies in a brawl is a no go.

Also, those animations might look janky, but most of these games have very low input latency and feel very responsive. Compared to games with massive animation blending.

No not doesn’t, it’s slow, boring, 1v1, basic as it gets

I am not taking about that at all, mine would be a bit faster, punchier, crowd control, a combo system with slick insomniac style animations for finishers, tons of different abilities with the whip, etc

This is dull and basic and adds nothing to the game

Looks like we want different things my man.

Hand to hand combat looks a bit shit no doubt but if they deliver on the puzzles, AI, environment, set peices and story this could be great. Big if, but at least its doing its own thing.

Cautiously optimistic here. Plus its on gamepass and I have 6 months left, doubt I'd buy this sort of game until a sale so all good.

Didn't see folks post this. To be frank, this looks fabulously good! Really give me the first movie vibe. MachineGames pull it off!

Indy is less competent than usual, Nazis are literally retarded, the woman is brave, smart and resourceful.

I think Disney is having a say in the script of the game

Yeah, this is so basic and mediocre. Even if they didn't change anything and only added fighting multiple enemies at the same time, the combat would have looked at least somewhat more exciting.

The 1v1 first-person combat looks like the combat in "every other VR game" without the fun that VR gaming brings.

Ah. You’re new! Cute. Practice what you preach, newcomer.

The context is also there if you look harder.

And sorry for calling out what’s probably his old unused account when he forgot his password but felt the strong urge to lay another 100 laughing reactions 😂

Combat looks pump, done better by Riddick what 20 years ago?

Although it looks like Combat is secondary in this one.

Stop being so pessimistic, see my edit. You never know.

I said the same thing, the game can still end up okay (but not amazing) if it gets the other aspects right. Like a low 80s at best

I fear that they may not be enough and the poorer parts of the game drag this down for too long

Not what I meant.

This game is 30 years too late.

We all loved Indiana Jones in the 90s.

In 2024, when we have already had a shit ton of heavily inspired games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider?

No Thank you.

Those IPs are alright, but still pale imitations of Indy.

That's the issue for me. I don't care if it's first person or anything and I loved the idea of it being Adventure-focused. But what they are doing just doesn't look good and the games I can compare it to have vastly more natural looking movement and animations.

I don't want something different, just expected a not shit looking iteration of this. It just looks really awkward, slow and dull.

Im expecting a solid 8.

Xbox have not released anything close to a banger in so long they have to get it right every now and again. Its the law of averages.
