amazing and amazing game.

as time has passed, it has been stuck in ma mind. witcher 3 is my goat, but see, RDR is coming up on it, purely on what I remember from the game, such a fantastic experience. great world great characters, heavy gameplay, but with a nice focus towards realism.

sucks they haven't ported the game for XSX and PS5. Just stupid they haven't

I got 100% in this game years ago and I've been itching to replay it since, waiting for that 60fps update though.

Probably a controversial take but playing RDR1 PC version made me realize it shits from gigantic heights on RDR2.

I tend to agree. RDR1 is a lot more fun to replay. 2 has INSANE production values but the game is paced extremely deliberately. You will do everything at the pace R* wants.

This game is elevated soooo much by Rockstar's production values.

70% of the game could be considered filler. Story goes nowhere most of the time, until it finally decides to move an inch. Gameplay sucks, but you ignore it cause again, game is so immersive, well acted and good looking.

RDR is so much better in what really matters: controls better, better pacing, better story (imo).

It's one monolith of a game due to its presentation, until unmatched in many aspects despite being from 2018.

But Arthur deserved to be in a better story and RDR deserved a better sequel

Bought it on launch day and played it just long enough to do the infinite gold glitch before they patched it out (I'm guessing an hour in maybe?) before saving my game and never touching it again because of 30fps. I could tell it was quality and it deserves 60fps and so I'll wait. Hopefully my save isn't nerfed somehow.

Oh yeah. I was massively disappointed when I played RDR2 since it doesn't do anything better or more interesting than the first game except for graphics. The first game really is a gem, one of a kind.

It's an impressive production, but I never got the urge to replay it. It has a slow, ponderous story, but when you're not being forced to walk and talk, it's an all-out Wild West sandbox. The two styles never really merge.

In my game, Arthur was a one-man killing machine. He was untouchable. He massacred everyone from the Pinkertons to the Indians in their village (sniper rifle), and was constantly pursued by bounty hunters.

But when the story said so, he was forced to fail in circumstances that made no sense, given how the rest of the game had played out.

RDR1 still has that old school pacing and satire of Rockstar. Coupled with hugely impressive technical feats. I think it's way better than RDR2, which took itself too seriously, contradicted itself because of it and its gameplay was secondary to its world presentation.

Hopefully gta6 is at least half as good as rdr2.

One of the games that show that western devs are not worse than japanese devs when they actually put their soul into a game.

Why? Not controversial to me.

Although I loved RDR1 and miss some elements from it in 2, I enjoyed RDR2 even more.
Dude is saying the opposite of you.

For him rdr1 shit on rdr2 from great heighs.

Personally, i vastly prefer rdr2.

Incredible achievement for the industry, but having played through to the epilogue twice, the deliberate pacing can sometimes be excruciating. The epilogue in is another 7-8 hours of gameplay on top of a 50 hour campaign and by that point I'm so burnt out. I still haven't finished the epilogue and should get to that at some stage.

It's a game I have mixed feelings about, but objectively it's amazing.

I'll have to give this another try sometime. I wasn't able to get into it, for several reasons (e.g., slow pace, heavy cinematics, controls, open-world fatigue), but I keep hearing how tremendous it is. If they ever update it for PS5, that may give me reason to try again.

In what way?
Character movement (can't overstate how important movement and flow is in a fucking video game, they messed this up so hard in RDR2), gunplay (hardcore mode is so fun with mouse/keyboard), pacing, story, main character. Even the missions are way more fun to me, they feel less scripted.

Also this a thousand times:
RDR1 still has that old school pacing and satire of Rockstar.
This is old school Rockstar at its best. RDR has a lot of edgy shit that would not fly in a modern game.
I fear what new Rockstar will do to GTA6.

The fact they recreated the entire map of RDR for 5 hours of content still enrages me to this day.

I've said it many times and i'll say it again, it's the single best game of all time by a long ass way.

The story, characters, voice acting, visuals, open world, detail, soundtrack, side content and what not are unmatched.

Gameplay wise I'll admit the gunplay wasn't good but whatever, auto-aim on and the rest of the game makes up for it.

I only play the v1.00 version PS5. And now that I have it hooked up to a 1980's CRT TV I don't have to worry about the framerate and the fact that it's not 4K like the XSX version of the game.

Well I can already tell you that #1, GTA 6 will not be even close to the level of funny that GTA IV is. They'll never top that. I actually cried laughing at the conservative radio program the other night. That game is genius. And that was just the radio, not to mention when you climb on top of people's cars and cause them to rear-end other drivers lmao.

They better keep the Republican Space Rangers :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That one show "Judge Joe Brown" I think? I forget if that's the actual name. I was dying listening to that too lmao. The woman was like "Your honor, he had sex with me when I was 13!" And the judge didn't even care hahaha. They would NEVER make pedo jokes like that now.

Played it on Series X for the 4k, then upgraded to PC and playing on Ultra with 90fps made it even better. Masterpiece in every way

Good game but it has some hefty flaws, i don't get someone who says this is among the GOATs unless ofcourse they are new to gaming, my sister played a total of 20-30 games and she thinks this is the greatest game ever, i'm glad she likes it and had fun with it, but for me i played many games this is just a good game nothing more, when more games with bigger production values and better presentation come out, it will become like RDR1, left behind and kinda forgotten, yeah i know RDR1 still has its fans, but compared to how it was in 2010 its nothing.

Ofcourse didn't watch the video, donkey is shit.

My main complaint is how the game doesn't use half its map. The better half. It'd be so nice to revisit the RDR locations and do quests for some familiar faces. It could have been a story expansion or something, but Rockstar gonna Rockstar.
